Almost awesome
tl:dr; fantastic gaiter for trail running or hiking; does okay in light weather I bought these gaiters a few months ago, and was immediately very happy with them. after several outings, the DWR coating degraded to the point where they soak through much faster than I had expected. I also broke one of the "indestructible" stirrups after roughly 50 miles of hiking - a lot shorter-lived than the '1000-mile' warranty. The good: - ergonomics are fantastic. Snug fit around the base, which is key if you're doing any snow or deep mud. They zip on easily, and the offset zippers mean you never have to mess around with which one is right and left - Zipper seems durable. I have some pretty chunky hiking boots that really stretched the gaiter at the base, but the zipper was still fairly easy to start and held up without issue - SUPER light and packable. Made other gaiters I'd used in the past feel unwieldy and huge by comparison The Bad - Stirrup is a single failure point. I was maybe 5 miles into a trail run wearing these when I stepped on a rock in just the wrong way and popped the stirrup. Immediately the thing started flopping around enough that I just had to shuck it off and stow it before I could continue. I would love it if these came with an extra set of stirrups as I've been unable to use them for over a week now. It would also be nice if the stirrups were molded around some braided steel cable or similar to make failures like this less likely. - Wimpy DWR. I put these through the wringer: hiking in sloppy, wet, and snowy conditions. I took them snowshoeing and trail running, in rain and sleet and snow. The first few outings were amazing, but the DWR coating degraded much more quickly than I anticipated. I was even careful to avoid machine washing them, simply hanging them when I got home. After about a month of use, they soak through pretty quickly. Sad days.

Sorry I bought it
It doesn't stay up on your leg. Just a few steps and it droops down and bunches up around my ankle. Even if it did stay put, almost $60 is ridiculous for what you get. I'm not happy at all with this purchase, and am not thrilled about having to pay $6 just to ship it back. I knew I should have bought it somewhere else, so I don't have to pay to return it. This is the last time I will ever buy anything from this manufacturer or this retailer.

Great mini gaiters

Received free product

These gaiters are perfect! They take minute to get set and figure them out but once you have them set they go on easily. The underfoot loop clips in to the gaiters in a set it and forget it way. You can shorten or extend them to accommodate boots (as i show here) or shorten it for running shoes. I wish i had these three weeks ago when i was hiking in the rain and the water ran down my legs into my boots.

Nice gaiters for well marked trails

Received free product

Nice soft gaiter, easy to adjust and fit comfortably without moving around, whether running or hiking. Maybe not be related, but had no ticks when using :) I’m a little worried about how they’ll hold up, especially if I use them with more strenuous hiking or sketchier trails- the material is very soft and stretchy, but certainly not a waterproof or scratch-proof material. However, very comfortable for median level hiking and trail running. I wear a size 9 women’s, and the S/M size fit well, albeit at the furthest extension of the sole pad.

Awesome gaiters for hiking

Received free product

I've never used gaiters before, so I was skeptical about the utility of these. However, they are a great addition to my hiking gear! I love that these are waterproof. I wore these hiking in wet and muddy conditions and they kept my socks 100% dry underneath. They adjust easily to fit snuggly against your shoes. I wear size 7.5 women's shoes and size small/medium worked well. My only complaint is that the top of the zipper kept unzipping about an inch. It wasnt a big deal, but was slightly annoying, so thats why I only gave 4 stars. Overall they seem sturdy and like they will last. I've taken them on 3 hikes that were 5+ miles so far and they have held up well.

Solid gaiters

Received free product

These keep my ankles warm and dry on trail runs. They are easy to adjust and quick to put on and take off. They are really lightweight which makes them easy to stow “just in case.” My only concern with the durability of the plastic strap that goes under the shoe. I’ve been careful to take these off as soon as it’s not mostly muddy and they have been fine but I do worry about the piece snapping on rocky terrain or just after a little west and tear. I think they may be better in packed snow so I may save future wears for winter.

Pretty nice gaiters!

Received free product

Since I got these gaiters, I have used them on several search and rescue missions. I have not had a chance to use them for recreational hiking. I figured if they hold up for search and rescue, they'll be good for hiking. I love how lightweight these are. I forget I am wearing them, and they are breathable and stay put. The zippers work fine and smooth. Instep straps are easy to adjust. I only used them a few times, but so far, the material has held up to abuse and bushwhacking. I didn't like that when I was bushwhacking, some plant seeds/debris got inside them (not inside my boots). But I was on rough terrain and off-trail during rescue missions, not on maintained trails. So that shouldn't be an issue when hiking or trail running on maintained trails. Regarding the height, these would work well with leggings or shorts, but maybe not with hiking pants. They are not long enough so sometimes the pant legs come out and I have to adjust them. Long gaiters work better for regular hiking pants. But since these are made from soft material, it may not be feasible to make them longer. I have only tried these in sunny and dry conditions, so I cannot comment on whether they are water repellent or not. Overall, I would recommend these for hiking and running.

These gaiters work!

Received free product

They’re well made. I nice zippers and they remained in place while out. My ankles and calves aren’t that big but it wasn’t a problem because they adjusted really good, I was initially worried about that but wasn’t an issue. Went through some pretty good brush, dirt and rock… they held up and didn’t get anything in my boots. That was great because I hate having to stop to get rocks out or those annoying pieces and stay stuck in my socks and give you little annoying stabs. These gaiters will save you time, they look good and you didn’t even fell them on. I think they’ll handle any adventure.

Great if you hike with ankles exposed!

Received free product

I almost always wear leggings when I go hiking, so my ankles are always exposed, these are a game changer. They keep ticks off you, keep your legs protected from getting scratched up, and help keep the mud off. The material on them feels great, and are really easy to put on. If you have your ankles exposed when hiking, I highly recommend you trying these.

Zippers don't stay in place.

These gaiters worked fairly well over 30 miles of Rogaine in 4 inch snow and ice over extremely rough terrain. However, the side zipper on both gaiters did not lock in position and tended to unzip over the course of the race. I was forced to tape the zippers shut with leukotape without a lot of success. Also, the plastic instep strap became encrusted in ice and popped out of its retainer on one gaiter. I plan to return them and purchase another brand or the GTX Kahtoolas (at much higher price), which appear to actually having a zipper locking mechanism. If Kahtoola redesigns the zipper I would buy again and likely give a much higher rating.

Keep the rocks and mud out of your shoes!

Received free product

The Kahtoola RENAgaiter is a great product that effectively keeps rocks and dirt from infiltrating your shoes during outdoor activities. After putting them to the test, I can confidently say that these gaiters work. Whether you're hiking on loose gravel trails or venturing through muddy terrains these gaiters act as a reliable shield. The materials used in the construction seem strong and durable. Overall, this looks and feels like a well made product. The fit feels secure. These gaiters stayed in place even when I wore them with shorts on my bare calf and did not slip down significantly. The adjustable straps and well-designed attachment system ensure a snug and secure fit, preventing any annoying slipping or sliding during your activities. This feature is particularly convenient for warm weather hikes or when you prefer a more minimalist outfit. Overall, I highly recommend the Kahtoola RENAgaiter to any outdoor enthusiast. You can enjoy your outdoor activities without worrying about debris in your shoes ruining your experience.
