Nice boot attached to a poor sole

Bought boots for a 2 week vacation of day hiking. Boots broke in quickly, fit my feet well and did not leak. The boot soles were a bitter disappointment. On the first hike the soles started disintegrating with fairly large chunks disappearing with each hike. By the 11th hike the boots would no longer grip the scree reliably and my foot would slip on the descents. Would not trust these boots for another alpine hike so they will either be placed in the trash can or used for yard work. The soles of these boots have worn out more quickly than any boot I have ever owned.

I won’t buy this brand again. Although my foot is very wide in toe box and this shoe fit perfectly, and always held up on a hike that was dry, this waterproof boot was also wet in a snow hike, and only in the toes. Then, the middle of the outer sole began to disintegrate. That was it for these boots. I buy a different brand now, but I miss the comfort of the interior of these boots very much. I only wish their outer layers were more durable and actually waterproof as advertised. Allegedly goretex.
