The boot fit snug, so I wore slim socks with it. Good ankle support and insulation. The tread kept me steady in snow, ice and mud. The boots were compact and lightweight, so I took them with me when I traveled to hike and visit family. Waiting for some good weather to check them out on rocky terrain.
Absolutely love my new boots! I wear a size 7.5 but ordered an 8 - it fits perfectly! These do really well in all terrain, especially mud and water :) They felt very lightweight and sturdy, great ankle & arch support.
The short ankle height and lightweight, breathable sneaker-like construction make these VERY comfortable for day hikes, but I wouldn't recommend them for longer trips (I need something sturdier for that). For such a lightweight boot they have surprisingly good traction and stability on rocky terrain. They have decent arch support and room for my orthotics, and the classic Keen wide toe area allows my toes to stretch out with no pinching. The lacing is easy and firm; I've had other hiking boots where I just can't seem to get a tight lace at the ankle so I really appreciate this detail. These are advertised as "locking in" your foot - and it's true - I have no slippage at all in any direction. So far, the waterproof claim holds up too (in light rain). On the downside I really dislike the large "KEEN" print on the side of the shoe, but these are wonderful otherwise and worth overlooking that.
5 stars! I like the basic colors (black and white) and simple design. The shoes felt clunky when I first put them on, but they were comfortable to walk in, on grass/trails and on pavement. No chaffing/rubbing. I’ve been wearing them out in the snow-covered ground and they keep my feet dry in up to about an inch of snow (any higher than that tends to get in at the ankles when it’s kicked up). I wear a size 9 running shoe and the KEEN size 9.5 fits great. These are my go-to shoes now that it’s wet and snowy out, and I wear them every day!
It was such a pity that there’s a design problem: that the hooks at the inner ankles could easily get tangled with the shoelaces on the adjacent foot, which is a hazardous tripping disaster. I stumbled several times and my daughter did too, she even fell off three times in two days which would’ve been dangerous if we were hiking in difficult surroundings. I would have loved these boots even more if the hooks weren’t such a problem. The hooks could get broken after tripping a few times which happened to both my and my daughter’s pair.
Very comfortable shoes and at first I was thrilled with this product, but they haven’t held up to daily use. I have worn them for about 4 months and the material is already peeling on the sides of my shoes. Because of that they are no longer waterproof.
Disclaimer, these boots were provided as a product advisor. These are lightweight boots that can handle a variety of terrain, and handle snow powder and slush with good traction. The toebox is nice and wide for those who have feet that are shaped like pizzas, with the widest part along the toes, or those who have bunions. Plenty of cushion throughout the base of the boot, which serves well while snowshoeing. The only con, these shoes are not fashionable, nor cute. They are highly functional though!
Took these around Mt. Hood for a day hike, and they're exactly what I'm looking for. Spacious toe room, easy to lace (double knot is a must), breathable, comfortable around the ankle, not too tight with my thicker hiking socks, and so lightweight I wanted to run in them (I actually did run down the trail to beat the sunset). I do like the Keen written across the side, I think it's stylish and want folks to know what great boots they are! I was impressed at their traction and how well they negotiated rocky and gravely terrain, they didn't hurt my feet or slip. Well done Keen.
I bought a size 12. Hard to find womens size 12. I find with heavy darn tough hiking socks, my toes rub on the top of the boot. Fits okay with lighter weight darn tough socks. I bought a gel heel cup because the heel seemed a bit low for me. Put under inner sole. Because they are light weight, the rocks and roots can be felt on the trail. Very grippy. My feet aren’t perfect, arthritis in ankles and mid foot. But I do like them, not perfect, but will do for my foot issues. Waterproofing works great. Not super hot. I don’t know about longevity of these because of the mesh.
After hunting all last season for a pair of walking shoes (with many returns), this spring I finally got smart and went to KEEN. I have had a pair of KEEN winter walking boots for over 10 years now. The soles look like the day I bought them! They still perform and I even put ice cleats on them.... But these NXIS EVO's are truly the best shoe I've ever bought. My feet have become arthritic. I have toes that are curled up so I need lots of toe room as well as good ankle support. These shoes are my "happy place". They fit my orthotics, no problem. I can walk for hours. They are so light too. I'll never buy anything else in future! Thanks KEEN.
