Great but not for intense use cases.
Lovely shoes, looks and feel great. I found these while looking for zero drop shoes that came in red. My use case is that I am on my feet 4 nights a week for approximately 8 hours a night moving non stop on hard floor surfaces and concrete. Got these May 5th and took the photos September 15th, so approx 5 months of weekly wear. Now these are not advertised as work shoes, so not surprised that they are not holding up well to the stress. I don't use the thick brown insoles included and wear just socks directly on the white bottom of the shoes. They have developed hot spots where my feet make contact with the ground and I am already starting to wear through the sole. Sadly, as I love these shoes. Going to try a thin felt liner to see if I can make these last through a year. With all the being said I do love the shoes, bought a second pair for my daily wear. However I would caution if you are looking to take these on a long haul with lots of intense miles but playing around outdoors on the rocks and rivers, couldn't imagine a better shoe.
My favorite shoes
I bought these shoes 2 years ago for paddle boarding. They were so comfy I ended up wearing them to lift at the gym, walking, light hiking… many adventures and a few hundred miles later I’m ordering pair #2… they are flat, minimalist, good in water, and my feet love them.
Comfortable, Practical, and Cute!
They fit! I have wide feet so I was worried that they would be too narrow for me. But, they're fine. The only color they had available in my size was gray and I was not too happy about that because I am not a gray type of girl but the good news is that they came with two sets of laces: gray and pink. My gray shoes with their pink laces look super girly and cute, now! I just got them so I haven't tried them out and about, yet, but I'm sure they will be great! (For reference, I wear a 39 in Birkenstocks and I bought these in a size 9.)
Great for creek walking!
I've tried a lot of water shoes and found them all lacking in the "keep the grit out" arena. However, these shoes...perfect! The sole is thick enough that you don't feel sharp rocks in the creek and lose your balance and they have a good grip. They are also comfortable walking in the park. I wouldn't do strenuous hiking in them, but they are great when walking my dogs in the woods. I usually wear an 8.5 and ordered a 9 as suggested. It was a bit of a squeeze to get them on and they were snug, but not uncomfortably tight. Which is the point of a water shoe. I have worn them with (thin) socks and without and either way there was barely any gravel that sneaked inside. These are worth every penny and more. Plus, they came with two pairs of laces!
NOT a beach shoe!
My Astral Loyak's and I have just returned from 3 weeks on Prince Edward Island. While the Loyak may be a good boat shoe, it is not a beach shoe. Two steps into the surf, and they are filled with sand. Wet sand is not able to exit through the tiny eyelet holes and so remains there, rubbing the skin on baby toes raw with each step taken. Two stars because they are pretty to look at.
I dig these shoes.
I’m a chef. I needed barefoot shoes with a wide toe box to work in that offered slip-resistance. These are gems. I love them. Fantastic at quick drying, too. I’ve had the same pair for two years; Oceans, kayaking, morning runs, kitchen work… they have served me so very well. Still going, too - though I lost the laces at some point when rigging my campers cabinets closed ;) these shoes have been with me through so much.
Best shoe I own
I bought these over a year ago and they are just now getting a small hole where they bend on the top. They have been my favorite go to shoe for everything. If you were questioning whether you should get a pair, do it, they don't disappoint.
Fashionable, comfortable barefoot shoe that is waterproof and grippy. Durable and comfortable
Amazing shoes!!
I absolutely love these shoes. Ive lived in the tropics for the last 7 years and pretty much live in sandalsunless Im running. But after moving back to a climate with winter, I needed to get some shoes. Im so glad I chose the loyak. They fit greatsuper comfortable with or without socks. They really give you a great feel for the terrain under your foot while still providing comfortable cushion. They are great for all sorts of activitieshiking, walking on rocks, bouldering, slacklining, and just walking around town. When I first got them, I literally wanted to think of places to walk to just so I could wear the shoesnow I wear nothing else!!
So far so good!
I've been looking everywhere for a great kayaking shoe to use in Key West on the coral rocks. I was about to throw in the towel on finding something aesthetically pleasing until I stumbled upon these babies! And even though these were a big improvement on other brand's styles, I still wasn't entirely sold until they arrived at the door. Loyaks are way in cuter on your foot than you can imagine. (Not to put down the product photographywhich is amazing.) I just feel like I look totally at one with nature while wearing these. Can I climb the highest summit and surf the biggest waves? I wouldn't even try, but I look like an expert in Loyaks.
