Great Amount of Space, Very Weartherproof

We used this tent for the first time this past weekend on the MA-NH border and it did not disappoint. A family of four with two young boys and a big dog, all fit very well, with all our gear and plenty of room to spare. The height of the tent and the number of storage pouches made it very easy to get in and out, and to get organized. The vestibule is incredible; we threw a tarp down and enough space for two chairs, all our shoes, a bag and our dog to lie down. Now lets talk about weatherproof: 2 hours after set up, we had around 8 hours of rain, 3 of those hours complete downpours. The next day, same thing. Not one drop of water entered the tent or the vestibule area. In fact, there was barely any condensation. The space, the ventilation, the ease of setup, the vestibule, the storage, the confidence in weather, this was a fantastic purchase!

Nice size but durability questionable

Initially was very positive on this tent for car camping. Despite its size, was fairly easy to set up (although getting the fly properly lined up is a bit of a challenge). The interior and vestibule were both roomy when I used it with my buddy and my kid. The vestibule also provided nice shelter from the wind My main gripe is the durability. On my second use of the tent, setting it up in no wind, noticed the pole had snapped. Not sure how it happened (see picture) but if we hadn't had gear tape and the ability to take apart the poles and put the weak one toward the end, we would've had to scrap the whole trip! After we got back, I thought-no worries, TNF stands by their goods! Boy was I mistaken, after reaching out to their warranty department, I was informed that I was "welcome" to purchase a new pole for $190 + $10 shipping. Seems a bit much given that's almost half the price of a new tent after shipping! This tent is only 2 years old, and it broke on its second use. So much for a warranty! My advice? Buy another tent...save yourself the headache and possibly cold night.

Dependable to the max

I am super impressed with this tent. We have been using it for about two years now. Still looks and performs like new. It was put to the test camping in the Smokies this past week. We set up our tent and then had to evacuate due to the high winds (85 mph high). We hoteled it for the night hoping that our tent and gear would make it. The winds were so bad that trees were down all over the place, one even falling on a van. What did we see when we came back? Our tent dry and upright. Need I say more? (Full disclosure: the vestibule did fall down in the winds and our neighbor put it back up for us but no damage done!)

Short old gal happy with wawona

My first solo tent camping trip. I am 61 yo, 5'2" and a lil mobility challenged, but active and coming off of pop up trailer and hard sided tow camper. This tent was easy to set up only because i watched a couple of you tube videos first. The instructions have no words and are black and white. Ug! Seriously? I will take a "grabber" next time to pull the rain fly over the top. Had to ask someone to help me as i was too short to get it. The tent stakes are pitiful and will get sturdier ones. I loved this space! I had room in the vestibule for my recumbant bike, camp table, 37qt cooler and generator, camp chair and bucket toilet. Zippers were easy to reach on my back on my blow up mattress. It poured rain every afternoon and blew like crazy. It held up perfectly dry. Ventilation was awesome. Easy to break down. Not sure how it actually completely stuffs back in the bag, but i will try again when i am not so exhausted. I used a tarp as a footprint and it collected water but tent was dry as a bone inside. This was easier than the popup camper trailer. I am happy.

Amazing tent

This is, easily, the best tent I have had. It is wildly weatherproof and waterproof and the materials easily beat out any REI tent I have seen in the store or have personally owned or used. The poles are the highest grade possible (DAC MX) and out perform the REI poles by a landslide. The Wawona has a huge vestibule which is fantastic in adverse weather conditions. The Wawona performs beyond expectations in rain and wind -- as long as you use the guy lines -- that's a given. We stayed dry and safe in a multi hour storm unlike many other campers. Really, at $350, I can find a lot of things to complain about but this tent isn't one of them. Go buy it. You won't regret it.

Good for Car Camping

Easy set up. This tent has survived hours worth of downpours. The only time rain would maybe find its way in is if it’s really windy and the sides move with the wind (which is my reasoning behind the 1 star deduction). A huge savior when it’s raining is the small “room” in the front where you can put your camping chairs and relax to get cover from the rain and still be “outside” of the tent. My dog also loves the tent and he’s a 100# lab. So human and pet friendly. Plus, you can dry your pet off under the covering before they go into the tent so they’re nice and clean. Can you tell we camp in the rain? Anyway, definitely recommend.

Love how much room there is

Used it for the first time last week on a trip to Maine. I put it up alone at my house before we left and o needed a ladder and a broom to get the rain fly over the peak of the tent. It is slippery so I could not throw it over to save my life. It took me 59 minutes to set it up. My friend and I set it up in 28 minutes because it was much easier to pull the rain fly over with two people. It was very comfortable and plenty of room for the two of us. I love the meter room and we had two chairs and a small table in there. It didn’t rain so I’m not sure how it would do in the rain.

Held Up from Gusty Winds!

This tent was a fantastic upgrade for our family of 4. We camped in Joshua Tree for a couple nights and it could get pretty windy (gusts of 15-20 mph) at night which, in the desert, you could really feel given how open the space is. We doubled the stakes used and it stayed put the whole night--even our kids slept through the night. It's roomy and comfortable for a family of 4 and the vestibule is so awesome for added privacy or even a nook to play cards in the shade or to keep you dry from rain. We didn't get the footprint initially but we just ordered it as we anticipate that will help keep the area inside the tent a bit cleaner. Highly recommend.

Great Car Camping Teent

After way too much research and review reading on car camping tents I finally landed on the Wawona 6 and I couldn't be happier. It is very spacious and the vestibule is a game changer regardless of the weather. The tent itself fit 2 adults on a queen mattress and two dogs with a bunch of space leftover, and the vestibule is a perfect storage spot for all of the gear. Setup isnt bad once you get the hang of it, but I recommend setting it up before you take it to the campsite to get familiar. The only con I could see is the front door being all mesh so there is a lot of ventilation which means it'll feel inside the way it is outside, which in CO that can be a little chilly in the early season. The dogs and I were fine but the wife was a little cold! Other than that it holds up great in the wind and rain and I would recommend this to someone who wants a big car camping tent with cool features. For the record it was between this and the REI Base Camp and having stayed in both I'd say the Wawona can do everything the Base Camp can, but the Basecamp can't do everything the Wawona can.

Amazing tent.

What an amazing tent. Super spacious for 2 adults and 2 dogs (one 45 lb and one 108 lb giant). I had space to walk around and stand upright (5’7”). We fitted a queen air mattress, a giant dog bed (folding one) and still had space. Assembly is challenging at first but easy once used to. Will take 15 min for 2 folks.
