Amazing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm amazed with this filter bottle!!!! Great for my hiking and camping trips, it collapses into a convenient size that fits Easley in your bag, perfect for hiking and camping to keep your bag light, and more room for other items. I also like for survival situations that even if the bottle breaks or is lost you can still use the straw for filtering and drinking water, that idea is brilliant and I love it! I'm so happy with this bottle, it's easy to use, convenient, size adjustable,... I give this bottle a 10 out of 10 a perfect bottle and idea!
Filters Every Last Drop
This is a really handy travel filter! I rely on a LifeStraw pitcher at home, and now I can enjoy the same clean water on the road. The reviews complaining about being unable to get all the water out were posted by people who clearly don't understand all the configuration options for this filter. You can attach the filter inside the bag if you want to drink straight out of it like a water bottle. If you want to filter water into other containers, you simply pop the rubber nipple off the cap, screw the filter to the outside of the cap, then pop the nipple onto the end of the filter. It's that easy, and with the filter outside of the bag you can squeeze out every drop of water.
Easy to use, great water filter system
Water filter systems have come a long way, and all of the LifeStraw products I have used have been high-quality and simple to use. The Peak Squeeze is perhaps the easiest to use, as it's a fully self-contained water filtration system. It has a filter and water bottle built into one device. I no longer have to fill the plastic bag and filter at the source. With this system, you can fill the bottle and go! If you need to fill other bottles, the process is simple. Just filter the Peak Squeeze into the other bottles, refill, and repeat. There are three things I loved about this product in particular when compared to other products I have used: - Size - it’s compact. The filter alone is much smaller than the other filters I have used, and the bottle is designed to fold as flat as possible when not in use. It easily fits into a backpack or bike bag. - Design - It’s design is simple, but purposeful. The lid, while sometimes a little hard to unscrew, is a great detail. When filling the bottle the entire thing is drenched, probably with contaminated water. To be as safe as possible, you want to dry that off without allowing it to touch drinking surfaces. The lid lets you do this easily and dry the entire thing off without cross contamination. There’s also a little hook and a harder portion at the top which makes storage, carrying, and disassembly all easy. - Durability - Whatever the bottle itself is made of is solid. I always worry with soft water bladders that I will break, puncture, or pop them. I don’t have that concern with this one. I dropped it on some rocks by mistake; no issue. I shoved it in my bag, left it on the ground… I expect this to put up with a lot of abuse. For a day trip, it’s great by itself. For a longer trip, you might consider carrying a backup water source bottle. But, here’s some good news, the filter that comes with this system works with standard water bottle thread sizes! So if you wanted to carry a compact, lightweight water bag or collapsible bottle incase the Peak Squeeze gets a leak, it’ll work! You could even buy bottled water and keep the bottle to refill later to use with this filter. All in all, this is a great water filter, and I recommend it to basically everyone. If you’re new to water filters, start here. It’s easy, and it will build some confidence in drinking “dirty water” sources. LifeStraw specifically makes products designed to be used with 0 experience, and the Peak Squeeze is as simple as it comes! If you’re experienced, then rest assured that the build quality and feature set on this system is solid!
Super Cool!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This water bottle is pretty genius. So many times, when I'm out and about, I need to refill my water bottle and the water sources are questionable. It's great to know I can filter my water and not have to worry about bacteria and other yucky stuff. The collapsible bottle is convenient to carry with me and much lighter to carry than my metal bottle. And the unit is easy to clean with the backwash syringe. Whether I'm hiking or just going to the park, I love the convenience and peace of mind this bottle gives me. I also love how the company gives back.
Water water everywhere
Just so you know, I waited 24 hours after drinking lake water from the Collapsible LifeStraw. I didn’t get sick. In short, it did the job. I live in New England where giardia is as common as maple leaves, so that was good news. I also liked how easy it was to use - you scoop, screw and sip. Basically, it’s a Lifestraw stuck inside a collapsible container so no more stressing about having a water source nearby. The backwash syringe to keep the filter clean is a little fiddly at first, but I got the hang of it by the third try. However, I was not thrilled that I couldn’t actually see the water. The collapsible container is made from “BPA free premium materials” (what is this stuff?) which is basically a dark soft bag that squished up to fit inside my jacket pocket. But this meant that I didn’t know if there were particles in the water after filtering. Also, the max fill line on the outside seems sort of useless since I couldn’t really see when I reached it. I also And I don’t see how to clean it other than adding the saline solution recommended for long-term storage. The filter is not supposed to dry out, but I am leary that the inside of the water container never gets completely dry or clean. So thumb’s up on ease of use, convenience and taste and thumb’s down on cleanup. I would have appreciated more specific drawings for how to work the backwash for us visual learners.
The Only Water filtration you need
This is much better than the plain straw option and much better than the regular water bottle option. I build survival kits as part of work and I have replaced the regular life straws with this squeeze water filter system. It gives you the versatility of filling other water bottles as well as carrying some in your own storage. During a weeklong hike me and my son used this to fill up everyone else's water bottles and camel packs.
Provides peace of mind to clean water access!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is a must have for all outdoor enthusiasts! I got this for my daughter who often goes on long hikes and trail biking with her friends and most recently, she ran out of water. One can never be too prepared. I am very relieved that to know that she will at least have access to clean water if she runs out of her own. The 1L bottle is durable and folds flat for easy storage in a backpack. It is easy to attach the filter to the bottle cap and tighten it to the reservoir. To fill, just unscrew the cap and fill. Drinking from the bottle is just as easy. Either lift the flip top and suck the water out or squeeze the reservoir. The squeezing method is also useful when using the water to cook with. The filter can also be used as a straw to drink directly from the water source. Since this is a collapsible squeeze water bottle, it does not have a flat bottom to place on a flat surface. It is recommended that when you are not using this water filter squeeze bottle for over a month, to insert the filter in a saltwater solution to keep it from drying out or growing mold/algae. I am planning on getting a couple more of these LifeStraw squeeze bottles for my wife and me. It is not only a method of getting clean water outdoors but also indoors if you are at a location where you may be leery of the water source. This product will give me a peace of mind when we are engaging in outdoor activities where clean water may not be accessible.
Fast filter with good numbers
This filter is fast and can be back flushed to clean. According to the packaging numbers. The 8 log reduction for bacteria (the standard for certification is 6 log reduction 99.9999%). The 5 log reduction for protozoa (the standard is 3 log reduction 99.9%). This makes the filter not only fast, but "good". Filters tend to sacrifice reduction numbers for speed. In fact two of the popular "fast" filters just meet the standard for both bacteria and protozoa. Two complaints. First, a full bag of water will not fill a 1 liter water bottle. You would need to fill the bag twice to get a full bottle. Second, the custom back flush syringe breaks siphon when it is about half full. It leaks air and then the water in the syringe will drain. Even with a half full syringe, you can't back flush it is just not enough water. At first I thought the syringe being able to thread on was a great idea. But since the syringe does not work, I tried several different syringes to back flush. The standard Luer lock won't seal (the filter port is too big). A standard catheter tip won't seal (the filter port is too small). Pros: Fast Back Flushable Sturdy bag Filter can be threaded on water bottle Cons: Cannot filter 1 Liter in single fill Custom back flush syringe does not work, cannot be substituted with standard syringe Cannot be modified for gravity filtration When threaded on water bottle soft bottle cap is in the way
Easy and packable
I’ve wanted to try a Life Straw product for a while now so I was excited to receive the squeeze water system. I’m simply amazed at how far the technology has come. The squeeze bottle is great for hikes and backpacking since it is so lightweight and packs super small when not in use. It is so simple to use there is no room for messing up. Just fill and screw the cap back on. Of course it isn’t going to taste like bottle water from a store or filter tap but i was surprised that it was better than expected. The backwash syringe it comes with is convenient and also easy to use as long as you keep track of it as it is a separate small piece to the system. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this product and excited to keep using in the future.
Love This Bottle!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this Lifestraw - LifeStraw Peak Series Collapsible Squeeze Water Bottle Filter System; 1 L. I love the look of it and it is very versatile. You can use it as a bottle or a straw or use it to push water through it into your cooking containers. I would definitely recommend this water bottle filter system to others. It would be great for camping or hiking!
