Sizing Notes

For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

Perfect upgrade from Tarantulace

I bought these to become my primary outdoor climbing shoe as I had worn holes into my La Sportiva Tarantulace. I like the perfect fit that comes with lace up climbing shoes and the heel cup on this is a first for fitting perfectly. In the gym, I prefer my split sole Kubos but outside I wanted something more neutral with more sole coverage. The "split" sole on these actually has more coverage through the midsole than the Kubos do and they are described as a neutral shoe but a more downturned than the Tarantulace. Definitely a nice upgrade from the Tarantulace for not a big price difference. Even with the laces, these are very quick on and off.

Love these so much

I think the main difference between these and the womens finales in the coral/white that just got discontinued is the lining and weight of them. So this review is based of the discontinued finales but I think these are almost exactly the same in style. I’ve been climbing for about 10 months now, got these as my second pair of shoes after my first began wearing through. I love my finales so so much and they’re so comfortable! Although they’re a pretty neutral shoe, I find that they’re still amazing for my harder sends and they still heel hook and do other precise movements very well. An amazing shoe for beginners as well as just for warming up. I can wear these for hours without getting uncomfortable. Only issue is that they started wearing through after about 4 months but I also tend to climb 4-6 days a week so I’m not super surprised. Highlyyyy recommend finales I love them so much

Great for indoor bouldering!

I've been climbing in these for a few months now and they've held up extremely well—despite my being a new climber and probably thrashing them a bit. They're nice and grippy on toe-holds and I feel like a mountain goat in them. They were comfortable from the get-go (as comfortable as any new climbing shoe can be, that is). Purchase these based on a zillion online recommendations for good, durable starter climbing shoes. I've also heard that the La Sportiva Tarantulace are fantastic for beginners if these are slightly out of budget. Order your exact standard US size based on the size chart (I'm a 9.5 womens, ordered the 41EU).

So comfy and great edging

I got a pair of these "lightly used"...though they looked like they hadn't ever been worn. I freaking love them! Before this, I tried the Miura's VS but they destroyed my toes after just the first couple of foot holds on my first route with them. Got these in my normal shoe size (7womens aka 38). Best choice ever. They fit sooooo good. Really love the laces as I can really dial in the correct fit. My toes never feel destroyed, even after climbing in them for several hours (only mild discomfort at the end of my climbing day). Edging is so good. I feel like I can step on the tiniest of foot holds. The only thing is that they're not very sticky, smearing is harder for me in these shoes than the other pair (my bf's old red chillis). But you have trade offs with every shoe and for me, I'm okay with that for how great the shoe is otherwise. Totally recommend, especially if you're a beginner like me (climbing 6months & up to 5.10b) who is not yet ready to kill your feet in the name of slightly better performance.

Excellent shoe

I began climbing with my boyfriend (primarily outdoors) about a year ago, and rented shoes from REI for way too long. It's wonderful that REI has that option to rent, but they carry a basic black diamond velcro shoe as their rentals and those were horrible for my feet. I have bunions that have progressed terribly after years of soccer & running. But these, oh my gosh, are glorious! I tried on the La Sportiva Tarantulace shoes first, as they're a bit cheaper and this is my first pair. Those fit fine and I surely would have got them if I didn't try these on 'for fun'. My boyfriend said these were a step up quality wise and might be worth the extra 30 or so bucks, so I tried them and knew they were winners. The toe is perfectly stiff, while the upper is forgiving enough to mold around your foot. Our first day climbing after purchasing these was one of my favorite days of 2022 - I breezed up the walls and wasn't shaking with foot pain! Definitely invest in this pair if you are thinking about it, they are SO worth it.

Highly recommended for a raseon

I'm new to climbing, and these were the most highly recommended on the Bouldering subreddit, so I added them the try-on pile. I think I tried on 6-7 different types and 3 different shoe brands. Pros: Laces make the fit more customizable. Sturdy construction. Substantial materials and sole. I love that you have the option to resole them down the line, and that La Sportiva is an environmentally responsible company. Price feels proportionate to the quality. Fit feels molded to my feet. Cons: Heel digs in slightly, but I think this is just because they're new. It seems that all climbing shoes have a break-in period. Otherwise I've had no issues with them so far. Consider that you will need to tie/untie them each time you climb, as opposed to the ease of velcro options. I am pretty much always a 9.5, and bought my true size in these (41). The fit is snug but not uncomfortable.

Edgy and smeary and comfortable!

NOTE: The description on La Sportiva’s website says the Finale Woman is Vibram XS Grip2, not Edge. The non-woman Finale is Edge. After wearing, I can confirm it feels much grippier than Edge. I’ve been climbing for 1.5y, street shoe size 37 or US women’s 6, with narrow heel and wide toes. I have worn 3 types of shoes in this time: Tarantulace (worn 10 months, size 36): This is an okay beginner shoe, but it was really hard to trust either grip or edge on anything above a V2-3. Stretched out significantly, would downsize another half size. Skwama (worn 8 months, size 36.5): I got the vegan version, super stiff and had to get almost street shoe size. Was painful at first, now quite comfy. If your foot fills the whole toe box it’s amazing even for edging while being soft enough for smearing. It fit my toes a bit tight and my heel a bit loose, but that’s mostly my foot shape. Didn’t last very long, but I’m getting them resoled. Finale (worn <1month, size 35): This shoe is amazing so far for being a more neutral shoe; grippy and if you downsize properly amazing for edges. Laces provide great custom fit for funny feet like me. Has the comfort of the Tarantulace but with mild downturn and amazing grip.

Great all around shoe

Every shoe definitely fits different, my last pair I was a 38 and bought a 38 in these as well. They’re a tad big especially because the leather stretches over time but overall great shoe. Felt comfortable right out of the box! Have used so far for both indoor bouldering and top rope. Actually bought these after a few friends recommended them.

I'm in Love

I bought Finales as my first climbing shoe and have bought three more pairs since then. I love them for a beginner and all-around shoe. They're not aggressive, but they give you enough arch support to really use your toes. They're super comfortable and mold to your foot very well within the first few uses. With that being said, because the rubber is softer, you're more likely to wear holes in these shoes, particularly with bad footwork (I speak from experience in this department). Although I have Otakis and TC Pros, I often find myself defaulting to my Finales on any given day in the gym. I've been particularly impressed by the new re-design. They seem to have a bit more rigidity through the arch than the last version that helps with edging and tiny chips. But this hasn't changed how easily I can smear with them. Also, the blue color is so much better than the last salmon and grey color (but that's just personal preference).

Excellent Starter Shoe

Excellent grip and I was told by a store associate that it was similar to the Taratulace but longer lasting because of the rubber. This shoe does everything I need it to do, and I feel I can grow as a beginner and begin to do more advanced things later with this shoe.
