I am impressed at the colors! They are more vibrant than I was originally expecting, better than what I thought from the photos! I owned the half-zip in Spice color for a while and it was a great jacket but I like the full-zip because it is easier to take off! The price is also good for outdoor wear and great quality from a great company! I enjoy all my Cotopaxi wear and will 100% buy again!
I bought this jacket due to an impeding rain storm prior to heading into the Trinity Alps. And rain it did - for two whole days during early June. The fit was perfect and comfortable, and the jacket does not make a lot of noise when hiking. The first rainy day was fine - no wetness issues. But by the second rainy day, there was a noticeably wet film of water on the inside of the jacket. It wasn't due to leaks, but to condensation. Conclusion: this is a good jacket for summer hiking and short durations of wet weather, but for longer spells of rain you'll need something made with Gortex if you want to stay completely dry.
Great value. I spent 10 hours in the rain with this jacket the other week and stayed dry. The weight ratio is great for this price point. This is a great outer shell that has enough room to function as part of a system of your build. Jacket has enough cinch points for a custom fit. This is also very pack-able!
I chose the Cielo Rain Jacket for the playful color-blocking and its tailored cut (shape). The 2.5L stood up to short, heavy showers and the jacket's light weight made it comfortable to wear as an all-around jacket when there was no rain. It also travels well because it folds neatly into a flat parcel that takes up little luggage space.
I wish that there was a tall slim option. I pair my new rain coat with a Cotopaxi poof coat. The rain coat sleeves are not long enough.
The Cielo Rain Jacket Men’s strikes a great balance between everyday practicality and trail-ready performance. Lightweight and easy to pack, it provides dependable weather protection without feeling overly technical or stiff.
Wet through in an hour and a half of moderate wind driven rain. Not satisfactory.
Worn twice, wets through in the lightest of rains. Do not purchase this if you are looking to stay dry. May be a decent wind breaker, but absolute trash as a rain jacket. A plastic poncho was deployed to keep dry vs. this junk attempt at a rain coat.
It's pretty simple: if you wear this jacket in light-to-moderate rain, you will get wet. Huge disappointment, given how expensive this jacket is. Save your money and go with a different brand.
My biggest complaint about this jacket is that the zipper pull is on the wrong side. Though labeled as "men's", the zipper slide is on the left, unlike 99% of men's apparel. This clashes with habitual zipping/unzipping motions. -1.5 stars. A drawstring waist would make this significantly warmer, stopping air from blowing up the bottom. -0.5 stars Fit is good -- I'm 5'8", 160lbs, average build XL is a great size for me because it allows room for warmer layers underneath. Pockets are great -- zip closure. Breast pocket is amply sized and a very nice location Length is good as well -- long enough to cover over waistband. Lightweight, but not flimsy feeling. Note that there is no separate liner. It kind of looks like it in pictures, but it's a single layer of fabric thick.
