Great value at this price point
My wife and I both bought new luggage this year, since I travel less I went for this Gregory and she went for a similarly sized Away case that was a significantly higher cost. On a recent trip I got to compare both side-by-side and feel this Gregory is a great value compared with the trendy Away. Strengths: Trolley handle is completely encapsulated in rubber grip, feels like this could add durability, Side handles on angles, ActiveShield Compartment worked well with moderately wet swimsuits and towels on a return trip, internal mesh pockets roomy enough for toiletries. Weaknesses: The more rugged shape cuts into storage volume slightly, wheels are rugged but not as smooth/quiet as Away's, case shell edges near zipper sealed with a vinyl strip/tape that looks less durable than Away's hefty stitching in same area, trolley handle supports are angled at ~45 degrees rather than parallel to back of case and didn't feel as sturdy during 4 wheel rolling. All things considered, the strengths of this case outweigh the weakness for me at this price point and I definitely recommend.

Give this hardcase a miss
I normally love Gregory products. I own the Baltoro 65, Miwok, and the Inertia. I also bought a friend the Maya because I like their bags so much. But after purchasing this carryon bag and using it for a 10 day 3 country trip, I would NOT recommend this bag. Features that need to be improved: - the handle will not extend if the bag is slightly overfilled. Gregory needs to anticipate that people will be loading these bags. This is a major deal breaker. - the internal clip is ineffective at strapping clothes bags down. It’s too short and doesn’t cover the needed surface area to keep clothes in place. Its “long ways,” instead it should have two clips across the body of the case. - the battery pack holder is internal to the bag, so if you want to charge from your bag and then board a plane, you will need to open the entire suitcase and remove the battery. This is a hassle. Also Gregory doesnt provide a battery, it’s just the port on the top of the bag. The bag is advertised as smart, but it’s not…just a USB A port. Also USB C is becoming pervasive, so you will not have a future proofed bag if you purchase. It feels like this feature was an afterthought to increase the price of the bag.

Cracked on second trip

Got this suitcase for my wife and she loved it so much for the build quality, color and style. But unfortunately only on second trip the suitcase made a huge crack next to handle with getting it down from flight luggage cabin. There was not hard or sharp object packed inside to hang caused this issue. Check with Gregory for warranty replacement as we bought it at REI just 6 months back. Unfortunately warranty doesn't cover cracked suitcase. I wonder then what else could go wrong that warranty covers? Will go and see if REI accepts return. I'll go back to buying my trusted cheap luggage 😂

Meh for the price point

This is a pretty flimsy suitcase for how high priced it is. It warps really easily if you place anything of weight in the compartment closes to the handle. If you put too much in it applies pressure to the handle preventing it from extending and retracting fully. I had to keep sitting down and opening it at the airport whenever I had to extand or retract the handle the first time I used it. Needless to say it was super annoying. There are definitely better quality suitcases at this price point.

Don't overpack and you'll be fine

I bought this very last minute for a six-week trip to South America, Antarctica, and the Pacific NW. Not being expandable made this look small enough to bypass checking it everywhere -- even with weight and size restrictions on many carriers, including to Antarctica. If you overpack, the handle can stick, but I learned to squeeze the shut suitcase between my knees. This gave enough space to pull the handle out (or put it back). Not sure what other reviewers are doing, but I treated this carefully and was fine. Really liked the organization pockets and built-in dirty laundry separator.

A downgrade from previous version

Not sure why Gregory had to go and mess with a good thing. I had a 2018 version of Quadro Pro - it was a brilliant and versatile carry-on but after many many miles the zipper broke and I got this as a warranty replacement. By itself it's an OKAY bag, but when comparing to the previous version it is a downgrade in every way. Significantly smaller. Not longer expandable. Telescopic handle is not protected from contents and sticks when the bag is full. Thinner and cheaper looking shell. Less details. Original Quadro was a cool, rugged, premium bag that stood out in the sea of mediocrity at the boarding gate...this one is just another roller.

Handle Defect

There is clearly a design defect in this product and REI should stop selling it. As I now see others have also said, as soon as we filled the suitcase, the handle would no longer pull out all the way, or go back in. It’s designed in such a way that the contents can block the handle from moving. Stop selling this junk.

Poor Quality for Price

Pull out handle broke after just a few months of being used. Absolutely unacceptable for luggage in this price range.
