For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

I received the La Sportiva TX Hiking Boots as an REI Product Adviser. The first thing I noticed about the boots is how light they are! I weighed them with my Fishscale and they are over one lb. lighter than my other boots! I love boots with color and these are a beautiful blue! I headed out to put some miles on them and they are so comfortable! I’ve hiked over 15 miles and haven’t had a blister or even a hot spot. They didn’t need broken in at all. I’ve been on rocky trails, muddy trails and even walked through a small creek. The La Sportiva may be my new favorite hiking boots!
This is a light gortex option for hiking that seems to be a more normal option for width than my prior attempt w la sportiva boots. The last la sportiva seemed narrow but these seemed just right without having to get wide width. I really liked that I didn't blister on summer hikes in humidity (I always blister) and the vibram sole is such a good grip feel consistently. Traction on rocks was zero problem. Things that didn't go as well for me: not much cushion. I guess to be lightweight you may miss out on things like arch support and cush. My 11 mile hike that was partially gravel kinda made my feet hurt more than a trail runner. I do like this hiker much better than the raptor 2 boots which had rub spots for me above the ankle. Overall I think this is a good hiking or backpacking base option and I may just swap out insoles for my tender soul/soles.
My first impression of these boots is that they are lightweight at 1 lb. 9 ounces with a roomy toe box and they were comfortable right out of the box. I wear between a women's size 6.5 and 7 and the 7 fit well. I took these on some local hikes with rugged terrain and some elevation gains and declines. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable these were right away, no breaking in needed. They provided ankle support for hopping around rocks and traction on some steep and dusty inclines. I also tromped right through several stream crossings and my feet stayed perfectly dry! I was expecting smooshed toes for the multi-mile elevation decline and was amazed that my toes had plenty of room and felt great when I reached the bottom of the mountain. A few years ago I switched from hiking boots to hiking shoes, but these are so comfortable and lightweight, I will continue to wear these this summer for some long backpacking trips. Impressive!
The topaz/carbon hiking boots are comfortable and a lovely color-lots of compliments! For me, someone who usually wears an 8, I needed to size up to an 8.5 because this is a more structured hiking boot. This shoe does not have a high arch which is perfect for me too. Took this pair out for hiking on rocky terrain and sandy terrain and I felt very secure and had a good grip. My feet kept cool as well. Overall I am very happy with these boots!
I took these on a few hikes. They are beautiful and gave me great support. They kept my feet dry through a wet hike. I took off one star because despite my best efforts I could not get these boots tight enough on my narrow feet to prevent my feet from sliding a little. About 5 miles into each hike I would start to have "hot spots" on the balls of my feet. All of my hikes did include incline and decline. I wear La Sportiva hiking and trail running shoes in the exact same size and have not had that issue before. Also, I wore the same "Darn Tough" hiking socks I typically wear when hiking. That being said I look forward to wearing these again and figuring out how to get them narrow enough for my feet. And, I am excited to see how they perform when the snow flies this winter!
When I first received these in a size 7, I felt they might be "too big", even though I normally wear 7s. Just based on fit, I think I would have tried a 6.5, and maybe would have thought it was either a good fit, or too small - and then passed. I have a bit of a wider foot and look for boots/shoes to have wider toe boxes. In these - when trying them on, I initially felt there was too much room from my toes to the top end of the shoe - but decided to give them a try and see. I was WRONG. They actually felt GREAT. I haven't felt any hot spots/potential blister areas, overall they have been a great fit. For me, I couldn't use the additional eyelet by the ankle. I tried adjusting a few times before finally just trying without it, then they felt great - yet still supported in the ankles. I think these will be good for backcountry hiking - seem extremely durable, yet surprisingly breathable! I do wish they had a bit more arch support. And again - if I just went based on how they fit when I tried them on I actually would have passed, thinking they were too big - when in reality they ended up being the perfect fit. It really surprised me!
These are the best hiking boots I have ever had. Not only did my feet stay dry on multiple rainy, muddy hikes in the Pacific Northwest, but they fit great and are so comfortable. I often size up a half size in hiking boots so I have plenty of room for good socks—sized up a half size in these and they are just perfect if not a bit roomy. Highly recommend these boots for anyone who hikes in a wet climate.
There aren't enough good things to say about these boots. I am a first time La Sportiva wearer, and I am very impressed. For context, I moved to these from Asolos, which I have the brand I have been wearing for 20+ years. These La Sportiva's have great support and fabulous traction. They spent two straight weeks hiking and scrambling in Southern Utah, and were comfortable right out of the box. They are very light, durable, water proof and really nice looking -- none of which is as important as how comfortable they are to wear for hours at a time on strenuous hikes!
I love these boots! I’ve struggled to find a pair of boots that work for my feet for years. These boots required no breaking in. I wore them every day in the field in variable conditions (rain, high heat, etc) for 2.5 weeks without any issues. The color is really nice too!
Took these hiking on some pretty steep trails, and gotta say, I was impressed by the grip. The soles are not that cushiony though. I can see how that might be good for hot weather hiking, but I have flat feet and I could start feeling it in my arches about 3-4 miles in.
