EYE catching Sandals
Free Waters, Supreem Sport Unisex Size, 9/10 US These sandals are eye catching right out of the box. I took them out on three different hikes and one long distance walk. They require no break-in period, they are soft right when you put them on. Traction was superb on the two different terrains, minimal slippage when going up rocky inclines. Pro: Easily adjustable. Large toe padding on the strap is just the right amount padding. The sole adjusts quickly if you have higher arches. All around comfort and wonderful design. Cons: The inner sole when wet, gets slippery. I had to brace myself when walking; it felt like I was going to slip right out of them.
Remarkable Product
I am always hesitant to give 5 stars only because I reserve that rating for something for which I cannot make a suggestion for improvement, but these fall into that category. They are very simple in appearance but are supremely functional. The footbed is very comfortable even on longer (accidentally rocky) hikes and I experienced no slippage in wet or dry conditions. The straps are placed such that I had no issues with rubbing, pressure or hot spots despite having a fairly significant bunion. They are also light weight and very easy to put on and off. I really love these and they have found a featured spot in my summer shoe rotation.
Comfy Shoe for Grand Adventures
Very comfy footbed and secure fit. The adjustable features allow the shoe to adapt to any way you want to wear it. Excellent sole grip allows for safe hiking and water adventures. It quickly became my go-to shoe for river and lake activities.
Cushy sandal from street to trail!
I generally wear a 7.5 or 8 women's shoe or sandal and got the 7/8 model in this one and it was definitely large. I would have been a bit better with the next size down. That is possibly my only complaint. The strongest feature I feel is the sole. It is by far the most comfortable sole I've come across in an outdoor "water safe" sandal. I've had 3 other popular brand sandals and I feel that this is closest to a Chaco footbed, but with a little more "cush" to it. I absolutely LOVE the footbed of this shoe. Best I've experienced. And they don't get smelly! Being that they were a touch large, I had to have the straps cinched down when hiking and I tended to catch the toe on rocks a bit, which was a little annoying, but I think it was more of a "wrong size" issue. Also, you have to "un-velcro" yourself from them to get out of them each time - which is a very minor inconvenience. The velcro upper system is more like Teva, so if you like that, it is a strength. Other sandals have slightly easier closures to open. I wonder over time if the Velcro would get compromised. Overall the footbed is the main reason for the 4 stars and the reason it didn't get 5 is that the straps are a bit high labor to get in and out of unless you keep them loose. But it is a VERY comfortable and quite cute Sandal. Good for urban to hiking wear.
Soo comfortable!
I'm a pretty loyal Chaco customer but I have been converted to a Freewaters fan. There is no break in period, the straps are adjustable and you can take the back strap off to make it into a slide sandal. I love the rainbow- the colors are quite neon but the white does tend to get dirty quickly. This is a great shoe for everyday use, but with the flexible sole I wouldn't use it on the trails.
Wow! So comfortable !
Great Sandals for everyday kicking around! They are super comfortable and very light in weight. One of the best features is the straps are made of cloth. It thought they might pull or stretch and they give great support. I have an 8 1/2 to 9 size foot. And the 8-9 size sandal fits perfectly. All in all a sweet surprise!
Super Comfy From the Get-Go!
I've been wearing these sandals pretty much since I unboxed them. The sandals were immediately comfortable the moment I put them on. I had no problems adjusting the straps, although I have to say a half size would have been even more comfortable for me because although the straps tightened up well, there is still more give around my toes than I normally like. They arrived just before I left on a 3 day camping trip so I took them on a short hike and of course, just daily walking around the campsite and they held up well to everything. The only thing I didn't do was take them into the water. Other than the strap having a little too much room, I did notice a little bit of foot fatigue after wearing them. I have very, very flat feet (pretty much no arch whatsoever) and while the shoe is extremely comfortable, there is almost no arch support. The colors are pretty and maybe a little more muted than the way they are in the picture, but I like them. The orange stripe almost appears reflective at night. Other than the lack of half sizes and the lack of arch support, I would definitely recommend these shoes for anyone looking for a lightweight camping/hiking shoe.
Soft comfortable sole but awkward look
Let’s start with the good points. The sandals were pretty comfortable, have a soft sole and I love the Pride colors on it. After wearing them for a few hours in different walks and trip to the market, few things became apparent. They became sticky after a few times of sweaty feet. They are shapeless and too wide. Lack of sharp details. Which probably means that I will not be my ‘go-to’ summer sandals. I think I also prefer something that has toe covering/protection.
Nice but not for narrow low volume feet
As someone with size 11 narrow and low volume (flat) feet it is almost impossible to find sandals that aren't falling off or make my feet feel weighed down. First off - these are way more vibrant out of the box than they appear in the photo - I was able to cinch them down but it left very little overlap on the velcro part and the sole was way too wide. Wish they offered a narrow option! They seem good quality and the colour is really nice though.
Nice coulors
Pros: The design is great. The colors are brighter than on the screen, the orange is neon for example. The sole is thick and comfy, for me a bit to thick. I decided for size 9 after I read the reviews, I'm usually between 9 and 10 and have long toes and narrow feet. Wearing them in water during an easy/moderate hike was okay, not slippery. Cons: was wearing them for a whole day before we went on a hike and got a sore heel on the left side. I had the feeling that the straps have different lengths, but they don't. A padding on the back strap might help. I used a padded plaster. Not sure if I'll keep them. Before Covid19 I would have gone to my next REI and ask them for advice. If I would exchange them for one size larger, the straps in the front would probably to long. None of the shops nearby have them in store to compare. Guess that's the drawback when you do online shopping.
