I do mainly 1/2 marathons every weekend, also training during the week and have done a 100k with this vest. It has been amazing for 4 years now. The only modifications I had to make is adding 2 small pouches for my the points of my treking poles so they didn't rub against my back, their strap design holds too close. And I have to run with no shirt ( i run hot) so i had my tailor sew a much smoother material on the inside chest area to avoid nipple chaffing, now my vest is perfect 4 years strong. Great product, I do not run without it. Holds everything I need. Also bought one for my son who uses everytime we run as well. See pic.
I just got this a few weeks ago. I've done a couple 5 mile runs with it to try it out then a half, 16 mile, and 20 mile run. I'm 6'1" (185.5 cm), 210 pounds (93.5 kg), and my chest is 40.5 inches (103 cm) and I bought a size Medium. What I like: - Easy to adjust the chest straps for a comfortable fit, you can move them up and down the "rail" and then tighten each strap independently. - It does not move, period. - The pocket design in nice, the little pockets in front are great for holding gels/gummies and they don't bounce around/fall out at all. Please there is a key hook in the front pockets, or you can use the zippered pocket for a key. - Zip pocket is good for cell phones and big enough for any phone. - Two soft flask pockets, hold the soft flask at the perfect height to drink from just by tilting head down, no needs to use the straws (I'm using with a HydraPak UltraFlask Speed 600ml Water Bottle, which maxes out the pocket). - I like that there is a little extra room in the bladder pocket. It was really cold this weekend, so I threw in a heavier tech shirt just in case. What I don't love: - There is some stitching on the inside of the chest. I can't feel it at all, but it has chaffed up a few of my tech shirts a little. I'm hoping it gets softer with wear, but if not I might cover with some tape. - I really prefer Camelback bladders, and I really dislike that this one does not have a removable straw - It retains odors really bad, even after I washed it. Seems to stink way worse after a run than my Osprey hiking backpacks every have. - It'd be nice if it came with the soft flasks like the 0.5 size does. Over all I'd buy this again no question. After trying on several different ones in the store, there is no question I got that one that fits me the best. FYI: I knocked the star off for the chaffing and lack of removable straw.
I bought this for a trail half marathon I just entered, I tested it today on a 10 mile round trip run to Home Depot. I can confirm the capacity is 1.5L fluids, plenty of room for snacks, iPhone, rain jacket, and standard 1 LED lightbulb. It’s very comfortable and adjustable, the front pockets are way more convenient than my CamelBak, which admittedly is really for cycling so serves a different purpose. Definitely recommend 👍🏻
I love all the features of the best, but the sizing is wrong. My chest measurement is 37/38 inches, which is right in the middle of the medium range. When I got it, I thought it was a large it was so big. All the slack pulled out and it was still a hair loose. I returned it and got a small, which was then way too small and had pressure points right at the arm hole on my chest. (Makes sense, I’m too big for the small size range.) Really wish the medium fit better. I’m going to try it for a bit to see if it will work without chaffing, but being right in the middle of the medium range, this should fit perfectly, not too large.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this thing. It weighs half of what my old running harness weighed, and carries twice as much, not to even mention having a bladder on it. The pockets let me store my phone, my wallet, and a pocket knife, but I could fit a lot more than that if I needed. There's plenty of room for a snack or two or something else you may want while out running. I have only done two runs so far but it didn't slide or flop around at all on me and sometimes the water even feels cool on my back, which is nice.
My wife got me this vest as we got more into spartan races and did some longer races where we wanted to have our own water and food. This is a great comfortable vest when running. It stays in place and doesn't get in the way when climbing over and under walls and doing all the fun obstacles at spartan races. I have plenty of water with the pouch in the back and pockets for bottles in the front. There is also a zippered pocket for my phone and small pockets for meal bars and snacks, and mustard packets :). Everything I need without taking up too much room. This is a great vest I plan to use for many years to come.
I own many osprey bags. This one was my first trail running vest. This vest fits like a glove. Feels like it’s part of you when running. 1.5 liter of water is the perfect amount for 10k - half marathon in the middle of summer. Plenty of room for phone food and other gadgets. My only complaint. I didn’t wear a shirt on my last 6mi trail run. Temps run up in mid 90s humidity around 75%. The bag chafed my back a little. On the lower part of bag. With a shirt on no issues.
This vest is so light and comfortable that I forget that I am wearing it. It holds enough water for my longer runs in the sun, and the bladder and hose work flawlessly. I never realized how much I needed this vest until I broke down and bought it. I would definitely buy this exact same one again if I ever need to.
This thing is great! I do 5 and 10Ks pretty regularly and in the summer this is just amazing. Breathes well, holds enough water, sits well. Plus it has a bit of storage if you want to bring your phone or gels etc.
I'm 6'3" with a chest of about 43". According to the size guide, I should be a large. Thankfully I was able to try on a large at a local shop (they didn't have any other sizes) and I realized that it was already going to be way too big i.e., was very loose with the straps tightened all the way; I could take it off like a t-shirt. I bought a medium and I find that it too is too loose: straps are tightened nearly all the way. Definitely a downgrade from my old and tore-up Duro 1.5 that had M/L sizing, adjustable straps on the side (something that would make the new pack much better) and I am surprised by the lack of magnet for the hydration hose. All and in all, it's too loose, moves too much, gets looser as you use up the water, and the lack of magnet makes me really wonder what the designers thought the hydration hose was going to do while running.
