Feels like I’m being hugged. Doesn’t feel like a back pack. So many adjustable parts to suit your body shape and size. Even with weight in the bag, it seems lighter. Will never look past Osprey again. Defo 110% best quality. Not the lightest of bags, but if I plan doing the west highland way I want to do it with comfort. Just don’t pack the unnecessary items. Mrs got an Osprey also as you can see in the photo. We’re both over the moon.
I'm super bummed about this pack… I got the Aura AG 50 L for a 2 night 3 day backpacking trip through Bryce Canyon and had a hard time. My personal issues about the pack: After 2 miles in, my hips became swollen and irritated due to the rigid hip belt. In order to keep the load close to my back I had to really cinch down the straps which caused tension. Second, the back suspension/ air way system seems like an amazing idea, but really it wasn't. I wanted to love it, but having the load off my back created an unbalanced load leaving me back heavy when going around unstable terrain (not what I want). I really loved the quality of the pack and amazing zippers that held up great. Each day I would hike I would have to unclip my hip belt and let my legs get more blood flow. Hips were left bruised and numb, my lower back hurt, BUT shoulders felt great. I tried re-packing and distributing weight many different ways so I knew it wasn't user error. I'm bummed this wasn't the pack for me:(
Thank you for your honest review! Size and fit can greatly affect how a pack feels when carrying it. Our Customer Service team is happy to help and take a look at the fit of your pack to ensure that the discomfort you've experienced is not a Size & Fit concerns. Please send our customer service team an email at customer.service@osprey.com with the below photos of you wearing the pack and we can take a look and offer some recommendations! If you can, there are a few angles that are particularly helpful: From the front with your arms by your side, From the side with your arms by your side, and from the side with your arms out in front of you.
So, I did the exact wrong thing, short notice trip to hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back, and all I had was a daypack (also an Osprey). So on the way, we stopped at the Flagship REI and I picked this up (I ordered it online the night before). The folks there fit it for me. So the first time I ever carried a backpack was a brand new one I had never used and hiked to the bottom of the Canyon and back with zero issues!! (well, no issues with the pack, anyway). I highly recommend!! If you're gonna do something stupid, do it with awesome gear!!
This has been my go-to backpack for mutli-day trips, as well as winter day hikes that require snow shoes. Even when loaded down with five days of food in a bear can, and autumn backpacking gear, this pack is fairly comfortable once you have it adjusted right. The one downside is that my hips will sometimes get pinched if I don't have the waist strap exactly right, which requires some negotiation with the pack. I also wish that the pack was wide enough to fit my Garcia bear can horizontally, but that's a fairly minor gripe. Overall, this pack is comfortable, can handle heavy loads, and has held up to rough backpacking trips and stress from carrying snowshoes and microspikes.
Spent my first eight-day segment on the Camino de Santiago with this and it’s was great. I’ll begin an 18-day segment with my 22 year old daughter in September and plan to use it again. I also bought the same one for her to hike the entire 500 miles with. Excellent pack.
I used this pack for the first time on a hut to hut cross-country ski trip for three days. I expected, due to the fact that I hadn't worn it before, to have some aches and pains and some break in, but I was blown away at how comfortable this pack was, and I had zero issues with rubbing, discomfort or pain. I loved the pack for its comfort, I felt like I wasn't carrying a backpack at times, and the little details that Osprey added are amazing. I love how easy it is to adjust the fit on this pack - they call it fit on the fly, and it is a great name. I was able to adjust the pack quickly as needed to make it feel like nothing while out on the trail in the snow and cold temps. The ventilation was also good - so it wasn't hot on my back. I love the little details, like the rain cover, the side pockets being able to hold a water bottle a number of ways (one of which is really easily accessible while the pack is still on - my friends who had to take off their packs to have a drink were jealous), and all the various ways to tighten or clip things on was awesome. Being able to strap my poles to the pack was a plus, and the amount I was able to fit in this pack and keep separate due to the design of the pack was really helpful. Also, EVERYTHING was easy to access - the side zips to the main compartment were really appreciated. This pack is burly - I think it will last me a long time, incredibly comfortable - I took it out of the package and loaded it up and had no issues, and designed with a ton of thought by people who clearly knew what they were doing.
Very spacious and comfortable for hiking
Very comfortable! I am a 5'7" 140lb female, puchased the M/L pack. Easy to pack, has great features. 10/10
I’m 5’2 about 125lbs. . I borrowed an older version . Was So looking forward to the new AG version . It kept hitting me in the back of the head very uncomfortable . Went back to the store three times to have it adjusted. I bought small/X small. They said it was the correct size.. for my frame.
Overall I love the backpack. It fits well and is comfortable. I do not like the very front open pocket as things slip out.
