After a REI intro to MTB riding class and some time spent in the Sonoran Mountain Preserve trail system, my wife was ready to graduate to a full suspension bike from her hardtail. This DRT 3.1 was the best choice for her. The bike is well sorted with quality components and features. Thru axles, dropper post, Sram drive train and just the right amount of suspension travel make for a bike that is perfect for her riding needs. The sale price made it a no brainer as I shopped for a new bike. She loves it and has been on the trails now several times a week.
Super nice beginner to intermediate level bike for the price point with the components included. This makes this bike great for all around trail riding.
Good value for the component set, would not purchase at full price (frequently on sale). As my first MTB, has been great for learning and a no risk purchase if I don't like the bike or decided I don't like MTB within 1 YEAR. You just can't get that kind of no risk MTB purchase anywhere else. However, the rear cassette has had a bad gear since day one and at least 6 returns to the store failed to fix it. Drop seat is finicky. It is a great beginner (maybe intermediate) option beacuse the local store (Bellinham Union) has been very helpful with adjustments, recs, and and you can't beat 1 year of free tune ups and repairs for beginners with no baseline knowledge! Factory tires have not been good for PNW mud, so recommend for dry conditions or buy spare mud tires.
