Quality pant with tasteless design
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are a high quality snow pant for skiing, thick, durable, and breathable. However, the entire design feels like no one ever actually put a pair on and tried them. The only vents are on the sides and they only have one zipper so you can't unzip them unless you go from the top, same with the fly zipper. Extremely inconvenient for such a small change. In addition, as a bib they should have comfortable straps but that is not the case, the buckle in the back is hard and lies in the middle of the spine making them uncomfortable to wear in the car on the way to a destination. Careless mistakes on an otherwise great pant.
Disappointed in quality and customer service
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I skied one day in these snow pants after purchasing them new. The fabric tore a 2 inch by 2 inch hole on the leg the pant along with several smaller abraisans. I was expecting better quality material for an expensive snow pant. I am a pretty aggressive skier and understand if the tear is my fault. However they refused to repair the pants even if I would pay for it. These pants are perfect for lodge breaks and probably would get you to and from the parking lot.
Beautiful pants but returning due to design flaws
Two major design flaws: 1. Zipper that runs down front of bibs. So if you have to drain the tank in the trees in the middle of a blizzard, you need to unzip jacket AND bibs. Disqualifying flaw. 2. Replaced hand pockets with thigh pockets. Poor pocket placement. Skiers don't want stuff pressed against our thigh when skiing. I hope The North Face fixes these functional design flaws because they are beautiful bibs! But I'm returning them due to these flaws
A Hope Unfulfilled
My North Face Gore-Tex ski pants are 25 seasons old and have faithfully served to keep me warm and dry through maybe 10 days of annual skiing out west over that time period. Their waist is cut a bit high but proudly still fit reasonably well. The opportunity to replace them with a new NF bib that was on sale was an opportunity not to be missed. They arrived pre-season and the medium size seemingly fit this 5’ 10 180lb mid-lifer really well. What I failed to do was sit in them which did not occur to do until we were on a trip out west and they were a wee bit too snug to feel comfortable sitting which would be MOST unwelcome during break times after tearing up the slopes so I instead went back to my old reliables and will have to wait to find the perfect bib that affords a bit more comfort. Wish there was some stretch to the upper.
Fatal design flaws - PLEASE FIX, North Face!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been skiing with North Face bibs for over 20 years, and was excited to purchase these beautiful-LOOKING bibs, as my old ones need to be replaced. To my horror upon trying them on, I realized this design lacked the normal zipper allowing one to relieve themselves in the trees (you need to unzip your jacket and pants to make it happen - HORRIBLE design, especially if in thigh deep powder in the trees). Also, they no longer have pockets in the normal place where you can place your hands - they've been moved down on to the thigh, where if I put my keys, they dig into my leg when skiing. Also terrible design. Request for The North Face: PLEASE REDO THESE BEAUTIFUL PANTS TO ADDRESS THESE FATAL FUNCTIONALITY FLAWS! THANK YOU!
Light weight and great quality
Awesome Bibs! Love the one strap pull system and chest pockets.
Many nice features and a couple not for me
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] resort riding. fresh powder in the trees. fast groomers. these bibs have some great features including the self adjusting shoulder straps and the full zip front (although this makes peeing in the trees a little cumbersome to unzip but easy to get in and out) durable yet lightweight fabric. Some drawbacks for me are no hand pockets but two thigh pockets instead. Standard hand pockets higher up vs. thigh pockets are very useful and easier to access. one thigh would be sufficient. The waist cinch is a little akward in its function and look
Lots of nice features for the price
These bibs have lots of nice features. They seem to be well thought out. All the zippers are fully taped. Too deep breast pockets on the bib are easy to reach through your jacket and very useful. Too deep pockets on the leg are also easy to get to because they're below your jacket. Full vents run from the knee all the way to the top on both sides of the leg. One handed pull to tighten up the suspenders is very useful. They have a modest amount of style for bibs in this price range. Only two small gripes 1) they seem to skimp on the elastic material on the gators. My guess is that that part will go out first. 2) in order to unzip the fly you have to zip all the way down from the top of the bib. Which means you'll have to open your jacket and if you have a snow skirt buttoned you'll have to open that as well. But neither of these gripes is a good reason not to buy them. I'm 6'2 185 lb. The mediums fit me well.
Light enough for uphill, Bomber enough for donwhill!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are my freeride and uphill bibs. Roomy enough for leggings and fleece pants on those -20 days but they don't feel or look baggy. Side vents run from waist to knees for excellent airflow when you're skinning. 4 Pockets all very low profile but enough to hold your cash, phone, keys close to your body. Single adjustment self-equalizing suspender system works great, doesn't loosen up as I ride. Sometimes on a chairlift I'll feel the suspenders plastic grommet on my upper back, not a huge issue.
NO FLY
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This bib does not have a Fly. There is only one zipper that goes from the crotch area to the upper part of the bib. Which means if you need to use the restroom, you need to unzip your jacket and remove any layers to allow you to unzip the zipper. Not very practical. Obviously not designed by a male who frequents the outdoors. A two way zipper could solve this; but TNF cheaped out. BTW I'm a long time user of TNF apparel and gear. Hugely disappointed with this bib. Will return these bibs.
