Good Bike Lube

I ride a lot and have used a wax based lube on my chain for years. I have been happy with my old lube but not thrilled with the smells and toxic chemicals that the wax was in. So I was thrilled to find mountainFLOW eco-wax Plant-Based Bike Lube. It seemed like a great replacement. My experience with the mountainFLOW lube has been great. I relube my chain every 100 miles or about once a week and have found it simple to use it has done a great job of keeping my drivetrain rolling smoothly over the month I’ve been using it. I’m also glad to use a plant based product vs a petroleum based lube.

Great plant-based lube for dusty, dirty conditions

I live and mountain bike in "moon dusty" Central Oregon. This time of year our trails are almost impossible to ride on due to the sometimes foot-thick pools of powdery dirt that can wreak havoc on drivetrains. After a 25 mile ride last weekend, the drive train is still super quiet and didn't attract the moon dust or cinder grit I normally see after using other lubes. Mountain Flow Lube goes on transparent, is odorless and dries clean and clear. I really appreciated the twist cap and applicator tip as it means I don't have to keep track of a fiddly cap. I generally prefer plant based products when I can avoid petroleum products so that's an added bonus, too.

Good, all-around lube

The mountainFlow plant-based bike lube performed similarly to good-quality wax-based lube in the dry, summer conditions I've been using it. It lasts for several rides of several hours each, and there was not much gunk build-up when riding in dry dirt. I've used this lube for the past month on both my daily commuter and my mountain bike, and I have no complaints. Application is easy, and the resulting shifting is smooth and quiet. Four stars only because I have yet to test this lube in wet conditions, so I can not confirm the "all-weather" aspect of the lube.

Rode some gravel with Mountain Flow bike lube!

I tried Mountain Flow plant-based bike lube on my gravel bike. First, I cleaned my chain really well then applied the bike lube, and wiped off excess. I rode on gravel and also on the road in both dry, dusty conditions and wet, rainy conditions. I was really impressed with how smooth my shifting and ride felt! The plant-based bike lube definitely stands up to wax or petroleum based lube, & it’s being better for the environment is a definite plus! I’m impressed that this lube is also Certified B Corporation and made in Colorado.

Just Ok For All Conditions

Goes on rather "wet" when compared to other chain lubes. Wiping off the excess took a long time and never got all of the excess off. Overall kept my drivetrain quiet but also made it dirty. Collected a lot of dust and grit on an otherwise clean and dry ride. May only be suited for wet and damp weather but definitely not for dry weather.

Good product, plus plant-based!

I'm no expert when it comes to bike lube but this seemed to work just fine, no noticeable differences in feeling/shifting than my usual lube. I will admit that my chain is in rough shape as I haven't been riding very often lately, but after a half-hearted cleaning and application of this lube it was looking a thousand times better. I haven't gotten the chance to test it in various conditions but shifting felt smooth on a few short rides. It is very liquidy though, I made a bit of a mess applying it and it took several wipe-downs to get all the excess off.

Great lube for mountain biking in dry conditions

I live in the desert, and I mountain bike in very dry and sometimes wet environments, so I need my lube to handle these extremes. I have yet to test the lube in the mud, since I've only begun using it this summer, but I'm very happy with the lube so far and how it's held up in dry, sandy conditions! I found the lube easy to apply, having the right viscosity, and being neither too runny nor too thick. This compares favorably to a "dry" lube I had been using, which ironically was too liquidy and made a mess when applying. The pedaling and shifting has been smooth, and continues to be after a few rides and several hours on the bike. The chain continues to look clean, without collecting much of the desert sand. And as an added bonus, I like that the lube is plant-based and not petroleum-based. Better for the environment!

Go with the flow

I carry the bike lube with me wherever I ride and love that I can use it outside without concern about dripping some in the grass. It's super easy to use with the twist top and my bike chain seems to flow smoothly! Woo-Hoo!

Best Eco-Lube

Super impressed with this chain lube; I've used this lube alongside quite a few eco-lubes, and this performs better than the rest by far. I live in a dry, high-altitude climate with varying weather conditions, and I appreciate how versatile this lube is for performing well in both wet/snowy and dry conditions. No squeaky drivetrains!

It works and it works well

Great lube! Works well in a variety of conditions. Held up well in dry, dusty environments without gunking up too much. Also works well on wet rides and doesn't manage to all wash off during the rain. Further, my bike was on my roof rack during a rainstorm and even at highway speeds there was still some lube left when I checked on it later. Good stuff.
