Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Weather-resistant, stylish, long/warm parka
This is a great winter parka for what it is. It's long and a little on the heavy side, but fairly weather-resistant and very warm. That said, I'm not sure it's quite warm enough for true high alpine mountaineering use, nor is it light enough for backpacking (at least my style of backpacking). So where does it fit in? Probably as a winter resort jacket, that's also stylish and 'sensible' enough to wear around town, to work, out at night, etc. I got this jacket in the summer of 2021, but obviously didn't use it much until Thanksgiving in Missouri (temps: 20's-30's), when I found it much more useful/warm than my ultralight down jacket (Mountain Hardwar Ghost Whisperer). I also used it while walking around Mammoth Lakes, CA in November during some pretty cold/windy weather and again during the snowstorms of December. It's a perfect jacket for daily use and the fact that it covers your butt is great for when you're sitting down or standing around. I would NOT use this backpacking or mountaineering (too heavy). I WOULD use this at a ski resort during a very cold day for sure. The hood is great and has a nice bill, plus there is a bit of a draft collar integrated into it. I'm 6' / 180lbs with a thin/athletic build and I have a size M, which fits me perfectly with one layer underneath. Part of me wishes I had a L for layering, but the M is fine since it's so warm. I found the interior pockets really useful, as was the waist cinch to seal in heat. A word about the 'waterproof' fabric: No jacket is truly waterproof, and if you are in driving rain you need to find shelter. That said, this piece does shed sleet/snow really well and provides an added layer of protection in mixed conditions that normal down puffy jackets just can't. It also has synthetic insulation mapped in key places, which is smart. I was surprised by how much I found myself wearing this over the past month, and it's grown on me quite a bit. REI (to their credit) keeps churning out better and better gear that competes with the upscale outdoor brands. It's a niche jacket, but a good value given the versatility. What could be improved? I would love it if there was more variety in the colors they offer, the zipper opened from the bottom (like a belay jacket), and the hood was detachable or could roll up and stow in the collar.
Most comfortable parka I've ever worn
This is the most comfortable parka I have ever worn. Let me tell you why. First a little about me; I am 5'11" and an average build at 180lbs. I typically wear size medium in shirts and jackets and I'm always cold in the winter. Now onto the coat. This coat fits me perfectly. As a parka it is so much lighter than other parkas I have worn, and almost just as warm. I like the length as it covers my bum, and about halfway down my thighs. It is a no frills kind of coat though. It's not super rugged but will work great if you're in the snow or the cold; I don't think I would trust it for Backcountry or bush whacking. It has pockets that are the perfect height for my hands and the sleeves are an excellent length too. It has 2 inner pockets to loosely hold things (they don't close), 2 outer pockets that zip, and 1 chest pocket that zips. It also has pull cords for the bottom of the jacket, the hood, and 1 to pull the hood back. All pretty much standard. The loft of the down is really nice, but I would like to know what areas are synthetic vs down. I am a 1 layer under a coat kind of guy, and this provided me with plenty of warmth in 30 degree weather (I haven't been able to try lower yet). The insulation is good everywhere with two exceptions in my opinion. The pockets are warm and cozy, most people will wear gloves and this won't apply, but for casual wearing; the back of my hands got a little cold after about 25 minutes, but very tolerable. The other area I noticed was on top of my shoulders. This area also makes sense because the loft is squished on the shoulders from the downward pressure of the coat. Other than those 2 areas, I was very warm. The draft collar is very full and does a great job around your neck and chin, and it also prevents the plastic draw cords from touching your face or neck (I hate when cold plastic gets you on the neck). I wear baseball hats a lot and because this hood works with helmets, it also works very well with my hats. The sleeves at your wrist have a very comfortable under layer that doesn't rub funny like a bungee wrist can. (See the picture) A glove will work very nicely with this style of cuff. The double/2-way zipper locks really nicely and should keep water out; however I would not expect this coat to be as good as a dedicated rain jacket, but it will do fine with snow/sleet. So where does this fit in my wardrobe? Right between my down jackets and my old goretex snowboard coat. I have found myself wearing this mostly for casual use like walking, commuting, and gentle winter sports. Overall I love it and wear it all the time because it is warm and comfortable. 5 out of 5 in my opinion.
A Parka That Excels in Cold, Wind, and Style
This parka exceeded all my expectations—stylish, warm, and highly functional in extreme conditions. I’ve used it during a frigid East Coast week with temperatures hovering in the low 30°F range and strong winds. The parka's length was a game-changer, providing critical protection against unbearable wind chill. The cuff gaskets, which the product description underplays, are outstanding. They effectively block wind from creeping up the sleeves, add an insulating layer, and feel soft against the skin. In terms of waterproofing, the material held up impressively during a coffee spill and a follow-up test with running water; the water beaded right off. Another standout feature is the 2-way zipper, which made sitting more comfortable and allowed for quick heat ventilation. Beyond functionality, the parka also received several compliments for its style. Many were pleasantly surprised by the brand when I shared it. Overall, this parka combines utility and style for unbeatable winter protection. I’d recommend it to anyone in search of reliable, stylish outerwear this season.
Very warm, but odd fit for athletic gear
I'll keep it simple-- this piece has plenty of features to make it a very warm and comfortable coat to wear, however the fit is a bit odd for athletic activities (hiking, skiing etc). I have a thin athletic build, and the insulated lining makes the coat hang off of me like I have a sizable gut. So it's not flattering, for one; and secondly its bulk kind of gets in the way while hiking. I think the designers tried to make this more versatile by offering a bottom zip and clearing way for more mobility, but it didn't work for me. Two nice features to mention (as shown in the photos): 1) there is additional insulation at the neck/collar, which helped keep heat from escaping the core, and 2) the sleeves have really nice elastic-material glove gaiters. This coat is great for car-camping, and I could see it really shining at cold sports/spectator events, socially-distant winter things, etc. but it doesn't strike me as a successful piece of active gear. Pros: VERY warm, bottom zip, insulated collar, "puffy" insulation without looking like it Cons: odd athletic fit, bulky
A parka to consider
I’ve had the opportunity to test this jacket over the past few weeks, here are my thoughts: The Stormhenge 850 Hybrid Parka is a great balance between casual, dress, and performance. The two-tone pattern is subtle enough that from a distance it appears completely Black. However, with a closer look you can see the more unique texture. I found it appropriate to wear both casually running errands as well as to and from the office. I’m a fan of the more reserved branding. The fit is good, allowing room for a mid layer without having a baggy appearance. The zipper is smooth and allows the bottom to open, which came in handy while driving. I did experience some restriction in the arm movement, but nothing unmanageable. In low to mid 20°F I was plenty warm. Although I haven’t had the chance to test, I’d imagine with proper layering you could take it much lower. Overall I’m impressed with the parka and think it’s a great option to consider.
Warm jacket - comfortable fit
This down parka is very comfortable and the fit seems accurate. I normally wear an XL, and this fit well. I do think it would get snug if I had multiple bulky layers on underneath. The sleeves are a little long, which allows for freedom of movement during skiing, snowshoeing, or climbing where the arms are moving. The jacket is very warm and insulates well. I really like the cinch-down hood, which has a strap in the back of the hood with a spring cinch that allows you to keep the hood from flopping around on your head. Great jacket!
Nice Jacket. Zipper quality not great
Been a long time fan of REI but this $300 jacket fell short. While it is relatively warm, the zipper quality is bad. I bought it in the beginning of 2022 and used it a few times. I followed the instruction and washed it the first time recently and the zipper broke. A plastic tab broke apart and one of the two zipper puller fell off.
Good jacket, bad zipper
The jacket itself is nice, warm and comfortable. But the lining inside is too loose and as a result always gets caught in the zipper. Once a week it happens and it takes a long time and a lot of effort to get it out.
Stormhedge Parka lacks Features it Need.
This is a nice parka. BUT, why does it not have adjustable wrists like the jacket does? The parka's wrists are rather loose and have almost no wind resistance even though there is a inner wrist sock. Also, the hood does not adjust as well or as easily as the jacket. The hood seems sized for a helmet. IF the parka had the same features as the jacket it would be a 6 star product. Those features would cost maybe $3 more. And it would be a lot more useful in windy cold weather.....just where a Parka is supposed to be worn.
Happy and warm
I wanted the Stormhenge jacket, but my size already was out of stock for the season in late December. I decided to go with the parka and am very happy with it as a go-to frigid-weather coat. Today I wore it to take out the dogs in 0-degree temps with a windchill of -15. I was very comfortable wearing a t-shirt and heavy corduroy shirt underneath. It's not quite perfect. As other reviewers have stated, the zipper is a bit hard to pull. I also wish it had adjustable cuffs and a drawcord at the waist. It also runs a bit on the large side. Those are just minor niggles and not really complaints. I would give it a 4.5 rating if I could.
