Used this for a weeklong camping trip to RMNP so far. Kept him dry in the rain in the lower elevations, and beat the, as he described, “hurricane winds” hiking up to 12,000’; hood didn’t fly off at all. I still layered up to three bases plus a hat for warmth in the 30s or below, but there was enough room for all of it. Velcro cuffs are iffy for me; they help keep the mittens on but seem like they are going to wear out prematurely. Pocket design confuses him a bit, he can’t always tell when they are unzipped because of the fabric overlap, but also he’s 3.
Bought this for my toddler during the sale this spring and we finally got some cold and snowy days to try it out, and so far I am really impressed! He stayed dry and warm with just a sweatshirt underneath in 30 degree temps (I forgot his extra fleece layer that day, but he was honestly fine without it!). The elasticized bottom and sleeve cuffs stayed in plays for two hours of playing and didn’t let in any snow. The hood is warm and stays in place and the grey-green color is beautiful. Seriously no complaints (though I can’t speak yet to how it holds up with regular wear, but it seems well made). I want this in my size!
She wears this daily and most recently to her first snow tubing trip at Liberty Mountain where she remained warm and dry.
Excellent jacket, kiddo loves it, it fits great and it keeps warm
