I absolutely love this jacket! It's technical and lightweight and surprisingly warm, at a much better price than other brands. My biggest complaint is that REI didn't make a 1X size. I def gained some COVID weight and couldn't quite get the XL to zip, so I had to size up to the 2X which was HUGE, I found the arms to be super baggy. Also surprisingly short for the size, It rises up past my belly button when I lift my arms up. It doesn't look too bad when I sinch the bottom in, but still, it doesn't make sense to not make a 1X size when there is such a huge jump in sizing. Oh well, at least I can layer a bunch underneath.
Almost everything about this jacket is perfect. It does run a little small, and I was glad I ordered the 3x, but it still fit me well. However, like a lot of REI plus size tops, it's much shorter than I prefer. I'm not especially tall but it's in no way hip length on me. That being said, it's still a great jacket for biking to and from work as well as hiking/walking. I just wish it at least had a drop hem in the back or was longer all the way around (or there was a tall version).
Like others, I'm find that REI brand plus sizes tend to run a little short. I'm 5' 8", so slightly above average for a woman but by no means super tall. This jacket was roomy in the waist and too long in the arms, but hit midway between my hips and natural waist. I wound up buying the Hyperaxis jacket in the same size, which is a more form fitting cut and just barely long enough.. I would have preferred to keep this slightly lighter weight, more packable option.
I absolutely love this jacket. It looks streamlined and is really warm without making me look like the stay-puff marshmellow man like all the baffled puffy jackets. It weighs nothing, packs down super small, and is extremely versatile. The fabric is cozy, more like a fabric hoodie than a puffy down coat. LOVE IT! BUT, the zipper is terrible. I second the other review about the lousy zipper. I bought my jacket in December and even though it is not tight on me, the zipper springs open at will. Such a shame. I hope REI will fix this problem because otherwise the jacket is perfect.
Love the Jacket, but zipper not robust. I bought in late Dec 2021. At least 2x the zipper has come apart/misaligned. YKK makes a good zipper, think the version on the coat is too small.
I got this jacket yesterday and have already used it today. The plus size 3X fits roomy enough to layer but maintains a non-bulky silhouette. We are having weird hot/cold weather in northern NH right now and this jacket is already coming in very handy. It is light in weight with a hood that stays put, it is packable and the right kind of warm for those in-between weather days. Bonus feature: It did a great job keeping the wind out when I was outside with my dog this morning.
I have worn this jacket a several times now and like it. I am a 2X and it’s not cut to fit anyone with curves or hips. It is great quality and made very well. Light material but keeps you very warm. Perfect for hiking and can be stuffed into a backpack easily. I just wish the fit was more flattering for people with curves.
I have been wearing it everyday since I purchased it. REI is not know for carrying much in “extended sizes” so I was excited to find this. It fits perfect. Great as we transition to fall, light weight and packable. The material has been holding up against 3 jumpy dogs and one coffee spilling woman.
Great lightweight jacket that is warm but not too warm. This one is perfect for around the town, hiking, walks... kinda anything. And because it will pack down to almost nothing you're not going to regret having it with you. The sizing feels a bit bigger than it has been in the past, so a smaller size than I've done before was what worked for me, but YMMV.
I honestly love this jacket. I use it both as a rain jacket and as a light weight jacket that is capable of everyday use. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
