I purchased this bike as an early 70th birthday gift to myself. The main reason I wanted to get an e-bike was so I could keep up with my young border collie. Well, this bike doesn't disappoint. This old guy can now keep up with my my little guy. I mostly ride in eco and trail but man let me tell you when you hit boost this thing flies. I do try to keep boost to a minimum as I hear it can be addictive. While I no longer do long epic rides, the battery really seems to hold on for a long time and I can usually go on two or three 10-12 mile rides before I even think of recharging. So what do I not like about this bike. The obvious is the weight. This old guy has a hard time even getting this onto my bike rack. I have to pop a wheelie and then drop the front tire into the tray and then lift the rear. I can't wait until technology gets the weight down on these things. A surprise benefit of this is that it makes my other bikes seem flyweight including my fat bike. The handling does not compare with my Yeti mountain bike but that is to be expected. I still prefer to take out the Yeti for short rides with my older 15 year old dog and it just feels right wereas the C'dale feels like the 50 plus pound beast it is. I don't like that charging seems to take forever. I am always worried about accidentally leaving the charger on too long but it takes forever to charge. Also, the little cover over the charger port was risky dink and broke off its keeper the first time I used it. I assume that at some point it will fall off and I will end up using duct tape to keep it sealed on the trail. One tip also is to carry a extremely small Allen (I think 1 mil) in case you need to tighten the battery cover. I heard a rattling on a ride and realized the battery cover was coming off. When I took it off to examine the mechanism to keep it attached fell apart in my hands. Fortunately I didn't lose any small pieces and my multi-tool and the right size Allen or I would have been out of luck.
I really like this bike, it handles well and has a decent component package for the price.
Got this for my gf and she loves it. I’ve jumped on it and the power is smooth… the bike feels more nimble than expected (due to the ebike weight). Cannondale put together a great package! One minor gripe… the plastic battery down tube panel feels flimsy.
We purchased this bike in size small after ordering a different brand in size small that clearly was too large. Unfortunately, there was no bike in her size to test ride prior to purchasing it, but by comparing the specs of the Cannondale to the first bike she ordered, there was a much better chance it would fit. Cudos to REI for its 100% satisfaction guarantee! The overall experience with the shop personnel was great. Despite the store being extremely busy, they took an appropriate amount of time going over virtually every aspect of the bike as this was her first e-bike. They also fine-tuned the shocks to accommodate her weight. One would think that should be compulsory, but I have first-hand experience not all shop personnel do this. A minor downside to our experience is that the bike did not come with the oem chain stay protector it was supposed to come with. The technician took care of this by fitting it with an after-market one. We have not put many miles on our new e-bikes yet due to the weather, but the initial ride blew my wife away. Despite years of riding a dual-suspension mountain bike, she was initially a little intimidated because the bike weighs about half of what she does and the 29-inch wheels were larger than what she was used to, but any doubts evaporated from the minute she started to ride it. The bike handles well, controls are very intuitive, and the ride is almost effortless even at the lowest power setting. We can't wait to hit the trails as soon as the weather permits. At some point she will need to trim the handlebar width to accommodate her, but that is an easy modification and no reason not to give a 5-star rating.
9 months in, the charging plug cover fell off, never to be seen again. All the cockpit controls were loose and so I tightened them. Took it to REI and they replaced the plug and cover. Which quickly fell off again and has never been found. I 3D printed my own cover for the plug. 10 months in I got two error codes: E010 and E020. I took it to REI and they updated the software. 2 weeks later I got the error code again: E020 Other than that it performs awesome! It is really fun to ride!
