Excellent for hiking except..

I hike 3-4 times a week into the mountains of western North Carolina and have been using both Oboz and Keen for years. The Oboz Sawtooth ll are a great fitting shoe and I always feel have a good feel for the ground and really enjoy wearing them on more technical terrain. If this rating was only based on utility I would give it 5 stars. The problem has to do with construction of the black portion of the sole of the shoe. It started to peel away from the rest of the sole very shortly after I started using them; initially on the very front of the shoes and then on other segments underneath. I will admit that I am a very aggressive hiker, cover altitude and distance (40-50 miles per week) but for the price of this shoe I was disappointed. I did buy some Loctite shoe glue and did repair the parts that were separating but on the toe area it looks sloppy as some of the glue seeped out onto the leather while it was setting. The problem with this repair is that unless the black sole is completely glued at the edge it will look unsightly so I now have a functioning shoe that I will not wear to the store. I will not purchase this model again. Hopefully this review will help others.

They changed the Fit

Purchased these after wearing out an older pair. I purchased the same size, model. Unbeknownst to me, Oboz changed the size and they fit much tighter to the point of them being useless. I thought they were tight when I tried them on but chalked it up to them not being worn-in yet. However, after wearing them on some day hikes, they gave me blisters and hotspots (which the old ones never did). Anyway, I’m agitated that they changed the fitting, making them more narrow. Why did they feel a need to do that? I’m looking for a new pair now…probably some Keen’s.
