Ripped on first ride
I wanted to like this glove. It fits well, it's "grippy", seemed to ventilate well enough and I like the padding (simple and non-intrusive); despite touch screen feature not working. However, after one ride it started to rip: left hand palm patch. If you're willing to purchase a new pair every couple of weeks (depending on your riding frequency), go for it.
Excellent Gloves with a Great Look!
I bought these gloves as my first set for Mountain Biking. I was drawn to their looks and soft feel. I'm very glad that I did, because they've been excellent! I have taken several falls, on normal trail riding and on downhill trails - and my hands have never been scraped or cut! Not only do they protect, they provide excellent grip overall, and they work great on my phone screen - even after I hand washed these! I've got hundreds of miles on these gloves already and they're in excellent shape with no issues. I would easily buy them again!
Great hand protection for trails, not too bulky.
These are a really solid option for actually protecting you hands on an MTB. Most gel padded mesh gloves are NOT. I took a fairly gnarly spill in loose gravel with these on. Skinned my forearm pretty good but not a scratch on my hands (time for elbow pads!) Synthetic mesh ones... you'll tear a hole right through them on gravel, branches, etc... and to top it off, when you bleed, the clotting glues the glove to your hand so your options are ride gloveless back to the trail head or re-wound yourself taking them off later. As added bonus: they are reasonably light weight and flexible still. Not much padding on the palms but this is a good thing too... heavily padded palms encourage poor form.
Comfortable but poor quality
Planning on returning these gloves. They're comfortable and look good, but after just three sessions, ~9 hours of wear, the stitching holding the palm pads in place is already coming undone pretty badly..
Good fit, poor velcro
I've had these about 2 seasons of riding. Fit is decent, they are comfortable and the main glove construction has held up well. I haven't taken any significant crashes with them, but would say protection is moderate, more of a trail/XC glove. Branches, plants still nail the knuckles but the palms are decently protected. I give them only 3 stars though because the velcro closure is horrible, they never stay closed. Even though the gloves are in great shape, I'm wanting to replace them because of the closures, which never worked well, but in the past year don't stay closed a minute.
Dakine Gloves
Good fit and durable. Dakine glove always hold up to multiple rides a week.
Poor sewing. Stiching falling apart
I just got these in the mail and the stitching is falling apart. Poor sewing at the factory. Gloves look and fit great.
Great protection. Comfy. Stitching not the best
Great balance of hand protection vs overall weight and flexibility. They'll save you from skinning a knuckle or three if you graze a tree on a tight squeeze or botched corner or bash them into a brake lever where a lot of lightweight breathability-focused "MTB" gloves DO NOT. Palm protection seems about typical, so you won't skin your palms either but might still break your wrists if you go over the bars and land hand first. There is NOT much padding on the palms. This doesn't matter much IMO since good trail riding posture shouldn't put much weight on them anyways. Very good dexterity since it's focused mostly on protecting the back of your hand. Palms. Feels about like a pair of higher end mechanics gloves. Also not to hot on a summer day. Only complaint: the stitching on the finger tips is already come loose and will probably be the first failure point it I can actually manage to wear out a pair of gloves before I lose them (yellow color helps there too). This is a bit disappointing given a) the price, and b) since I have a couple Dakine backpacks that are VERY well made. So design and materials check every box in terms of what I want in a MTB glove but build quality could be better hence 4/5, not 5/5.
More versatile than their name implies
I know these gloves are billed as cycling gloves, but I use them as a nice lightweight, grippy, hiking glove as well. Great for scrambles, and other hazards you might find on a trail! They fit great they’re lightweight, what more can you ask for?
Dog walker
Ok, I don't use these for biking, but for walking my 3 dogs and they are great for keeping my hands free from rope burns while also allowing me the dexterity to open flimsy bags with the grips on the index finger.
