perfect lightweight shorts
I have these shorts for a few weeks and cannot run with other shorts anymore. They are perfect for warm and humid conditions. The liner is super soft and comfy which is very important for my Long runs because I run Marathons. The blue with yellow is also spifty looking. The back pocket with zipper is great for 2 gels and the dude pockets hold your keys well. There is also a small hidden pocket inside the liner which is great to put some money in. These shorts are super light and they have enough freedom do do interval training. I wish they had them in more fancy designs and colors. But the men’s shorts are shears pretty bland.
Not as good as the older version
This is a very good short, except for the side pockets. The older version of the Sherpa had an elastic opening on the side pocket so you could reach in and get out a gel or lip balm without looking. The new shorts have a secure flap that -- after a year of experience -- still require me to stop, use both hands and look at the pocket to get it open. That's great for a key or money, but there's already a zippered pocket for those things. Side pockets need to be easy access at full speed, and these aren't. So these shorts have been relegated to the short-run pile, and I still use the old Brooks Sherpas with the elastic side pockets for long runs and races, when I need access to the other two pockets.
Perfect for phone and gel storage
My son is T1 diabetic and also a cross country and track runner for his high school varsity team. These are the only shorts we have been able to find that provide a space for him to put his phone and energy gel packets securely within the shorts. they are the only shorts he wears now. He has been able to get rid of his cumbersome running belt because the shorts provide all the storage options he needs. He also says they are very comfortable and lightweight. Please don’t ever stop making the shorts. because we need to buy so many of them, I just wish they were at a lower price point. As a high school teenager, he wishes that there were more color options that had less design in them. He prefers the plain colors.
Great feel, incredible material especially the flat waist. Wasit fits slightly large/loose, but nothing that cant be tightened comfortably. I hardly notice that they are there. Very functional, great storage for long runs. Just for fun I saw how many gels would fit and I got about 6 (4 huma and 2 GU's). Would've given a higher rating but there are a few improvements that can be made. The worst is the drawstring, it is very hard to get a snug fit without losing tension when making a knot. Also my iphone 8 barely fits in the back pocket so if you have anything larger I wouldn't count on it fitting. Last is the liner rides up a bit, and doesn't stay in place.
great shorts
My wife told me to stop wearing my “dick shorts” (ie, 3” inseam). So finally I complied and these shorts fit the bill for both of us. Great craftsmanship in mutually tolerable inseam
Excellent Running Shorts
I had Nike and Lululemon running shorts before I got these. I am always wanting to try new brands of running shorts to see which kind I like the best. These are better than all my other running shorts. The fabric is light, the pockets are great to hold your phone and car keys, and (the best part) they do not show sweat stains. My only complaint is the elastic waistband is a little awkward when tied, but that is not a big problem. I usually prefer to buy 2in1 running shorts, but I just wear compression underwear and it feels the same. I will definitely be sticking to Brooks running shorts for now on.
Nice shorts, great for trail running
Solid shorts, liner is comfortable, zippered rear pocket is perfect for a car key. The side pockets can be a bit aggravating to get things in and out of though, maybe they are too narrow for a proper goo pocket and a little too much overlap of fabric? I keep getting my shirt stuck in my fingers when I’m trying to get in and out of the pockets. A few years ago I had some sets of ASICS shorts with almost exactly the same configuration except the (4) side pockets closed with elastic. I liked that much better. Anyway, I do use the side pockets for goo and microtrash. The big plus is once you manage to actually stuff something in them, you don’t ever have to worry about it falling out again!
Great running shorts
I’m a heavier runner, fairly athletic, 5’9”, 210...not the typical runner body style. I got the Large and the fit is a little off. The waist fits fine, but the upper thigh is a little snug...still very usable, but slightly noticiible to me. Still love the shorts though. Perfect length. Not super short, but long enough to be fairly masculine. Great sweat wicking material. Dry quickly. Overall, super comfortable. Would buy again.
Good basic running shorts
No frills, all function. Wish they had a pocket big enough for a phone.
Good, really good, but $$$ with some tradeoffs
super comfy - really gets you all tucked in. You will have to use some glide or other running lubricant if you don't want a rash on occasion, but I have frequently done 1-hour-plus runs over 8 miles and have been rash-free without using anything. However, rain or very hot days can change this. Pockets are awesome and will keep things nice and snug The only problem is the lining goes pretty quickly if you wash them after each run and sling them in the dryer. I know you should probably hand wash and line dry, but I am an American now and simply cannot bring myself to do such arduous tasks :) Anyway - very good shorts. Pockets - good pockets - makes them versatile for lots more than running.
