I'm really happy with these boots - they feel comfortable, light, sturdy and high quality. I usually buy a 9, occasionally an 8.5, but I stuck with the 9 and they fit perfectly with a bit of wiggle room. I ordered the Dull Dark Grey and they are much more grey in real life than pictured (I should have known from the color name however they look more of a dark brown than grey in images). Regardless, I am very happy with them and they look really nice.
I'm on my second pair of Montara's after 5 years of 3-season hiking in them, and I adore them. I've recommended them to all my hiking partners. They are very lightweight compared to traditional hiking boots and offer a good amount of flexibility in the sole. I find most hiking boots to have extremely rigid soles, which leads to plantar fasciitis issues for me. These boots are both sturdy and flexible—allowing for comfortable, natural movement in my foot. The height gives good ankle support without being restrictive. The tongue is gusseted and does not allow dirt and dust into the shoe, which is a blessing after a long day of hiking to still have clean feet. When I pull off my socks after 15 miles of backpacking, my feet still look like new! The lacing is very solid and comfortable. The waterproofing is good when the boots are new but does slowly wear off after a lot of use. I've tried rewaterproofing them, but it doesn't seem to be as effective as when the boots are new. However, the boots dry quickly and do not trap sweat inside. I've never had blisters while wearing these boots, which is a first for me with any hiking boot or trail shoe. I hiked Wonderland at Rainier this summer in these boots but have also used them in the desert conditions at Big Bend and have been happy with them in all environments. I also purchased the Teva Sugarfrost insulated boots for winter snowshoeing because I was so pleased with the Montaras. I liked these boots so much that I also bought Teva's Sugarfrost insulated winter boots.
Don't think I've ever had such comfortable, lightweight boots that are equally supportive. I have 2 pairs......one for hiking/rain & the other for gardening. HIGHLY recommend!
These are my new absolutely favorite boots. They are lightweight and were comfortable right out of the box. I was able to try them on in-store and used the climbing rock. I wear them all the time on any terrain. Not super warm but that makes them perfect for summer. In the fall/early winter I just wear them with wool socks and my feet are nice and cozy. Also run true to size
I love the traction and ankle support of the Teva Mid eVent hiking boots. I switched to high top ankle boots from low top Ahnu’s. The fit is similar, but with less slippery laces. It took a few hikes to break in- got blisters on my heels but added heel tape and played with sock style to make it comfortable. Gripped rocks uphill and downhill, little slip on loose rock and felt confident of the grip. A heavy boot, but worth the protection and support.
Great hiking boots! Waterproof, flexible and comfy! Very good grip and sturdy in the ankle. True to size and fashionable as well.
Sadly these were the cutest pair I could fine loved them until I started going up rocks and down sleep slopes and the ankle part is leather and not flexible and will jab your upper ankle. It’s sore to the touch after only 2 days of use. Bummed
These are my 2nd pair of the Teva Montara Hiking boots, I think that says a lot. I like them so mujch because they are very comfortable and provide stability and support. I hike, horseback ride and do heavy yard work wearing these.
Unfortunately I did not get the chance to use these boots quickly enough to realize the heel pain these boots cause me after days of hiking. I broke them in with short, 1-2 miles hikes prior to my trip. After a couple days hiking 10-15 miles my right heel is in so much pain and I hate these boots. I do not recommend this brand I feel I overpaid grossly -- even on sale.
I was so excited for these boots but they were the most painful boots I ever tried. The ankles are so separated from the rest of the boot without any cushion. My ankles were in pain every step down from the mountain. Thank God for REI’s return policy. I went straight down and exchanged them!
