Amazing comfort
I bought this shoe last week. Out of the box I hiked two 14ers in Colorado. Over 8 miles for the break in hike. They performed unbelievable well. Rock trail and patches of ice and snow. Not one issue and feet stayed dry and comfortable. Transitioned from a Salomon shoe and wish I had made the switch sooner. Couldn’t recommend this shoe more!

Comfortable, although not durable
I bought these to hike part of the Appalachian Trail. After hiking parts of Maine and Georgia in them, I have some thoughts... The Good: they are very comfortable right out of the box. They feel great on trail. They have a cushy ride that resulted in zero blisters over 80 miles of hiking. They are lightweight and stable. The bad: they would never hold up long term on the Appalachian Trail, they just aren't durable enough. Full disclosure, I've had two pairs of these now - one pair I took out for a modest 9.5 miles on the AT in Maine. Afterwhich the sole began peeling away from the mid-layer foam (see pictures). After a warranty replacement and a brand new pair, I took them out for 40 miles on the trail in Georgia. During which, the sole began breaking and peeling away from the mid-layer foam again (see pictures). I understand the trail can be brutal, but this kind of damage is simply too much to recommend these for any serious hiker. With the kind of reliable mileage these shoes are getting, you would need at least 21 pairs to get you through the AT. My recommendation: If you're walking a relatively flat dirt surface, these will do just fine. If you're wanting to have some real adventure in these, best to look elsewhere.

Merrells & a Turkish Adventure

My new Moab Speed shoes are extremely comfortable. I have multiple pairs of Merrells and these may be the most comfortable yet. I'm currently romping through western and central Turkey with my son and brought two pairs of shoes with me, both Merrells. Perfect shoes for a great adventure.

Bad midsole

Comfy shoe but falling apart after 90km. Just bring back the Ontario 85 lows.

All-purpose travel beasts

My new “go-to” travel shoes. They’re comfortable in almost any conditions, especially after I swapped out the provided laces with elastic ones with a slide-stop. I opted against the Gore Tex waterproof model, and they’re well ventilated. They’re sleek enough to work out in and rugged enough for trail runs or hikes, but stylish enough to go with “city clothes.” On a 2-week trip to the Holy Land, they were great for a 12-hour flight, long days on hot pavement, short excursions through muddy tunnels, and a warm and dusty climb up to Masada. Pair with some dressier shoes for nice restaurants (and maybe some flip-flops in the tropics) and you have all the footwear you need.

Disappointed

I love theses shoes but resent them too. I have owned 2 pairs. Comfortable, lightweight, with great traction from New Hampshire white mnts to Hawaiian craters. After 100 miles, I upgraded (or so I thought) to the waterproof version. While it was waterproof with all the same great traits the shoes uppers have proven to be not very durable with rips and tears in multiple locations. This is so not up to Merrill standards!

Great idea

I bought the mids, very comfortable, lightweight. The first month the skin right in front of the heel tore. Tear was only maybe a inch, it did degrade the waterproof efficiency. I ended up using superglue to close the tear. The rubber heal in contact with the ground peeled off. The padding around the ankle has split open. All this damage has happened withing a four month period. This is all on one boot.

Merrell has gone way down in quality

I picked up my Merrells from REI on Jun 20, I wear them a couple times a week, they’re starting to come apart already after less than two months. If I damaged them whilst engaging in an activity that caused this then ok, but I have not. I’ve had Merrells that have dtood the test of time, but these aren’t them or those days. Super disappointed in this not cheap product.

Moab Speed perfect shoe for Havasu Hike

Bought these for my hiking trip to Havasu Falls. I put custom insoles in and They were so comfortable. It’s a 10 mile hike to the falls and I wouldn’t have wanted anything else on my feet. Super lightweight and super comfortable.

Great shoes except loop retention loops break

Good shoes except the lace retention loops started breaking after just a couple of weeks of walking in the neighborhood. Very disappointed as I have owned Merrill’s for decades and always considered it a great shoe
