I purchased these boots last year for a trip to Tremblant for Christmas 2022. My family did a woodsman day where we spent the day in subzero condition ice fishing, dog sledding, and hiking through like a foot of snow to a Bison reserve. Also did a couple of hikes with my dogs where we were in knew deep snow. These boots worked great. The keep my feet warm and dry (paired them with smart wool socks). The only draw back I will say is the shoes ket coming unlaced which is always a problem for round show laces.
These boots seem well constructed and relatively light for the level of insulation and waterproofing. BUT... They fit my feet very poorly. Sizing was on par with other boots and these were sized correctly for me. Oboz designs their boots to have a "contour" to the front of the boot sole. Meaning that when standing on flat ground, your toes are not putting any pressure on the ground. This is intended to have a "rolling" step motion and prevent the need for the boot to flex at the forefoot. Instead, this causes the boot to put all the pressure of the step across the ball of my foot and no pressure or control into my toes. This caused forefoot discomfort within 15min of standing and walking. Returning ASAP.
First impressions. These are some rugged looking boots! First hike: the top of the boot felt tight around my calf, in fact the whole boot seemed pretty stiff. Later hikes, no stiffness issues. I weigh 200 lbs and the sole on this boot seems impervious to pointed rock intrusions. It has fantastic ankle support and the relatively narrow tread sinks in and grips in snow and mud. I HAVE to mention that this is some of the most aggressive tread I've ever seen, as I'm certainly one to appreciate those things (be they shoes, car, bike, or motorcycle tires). They don't feel "clunky", and on the flats, I can really scoot in them.
I bought the Oboz Bridger 10” boots at the beginning of the season. They fit my wide feet very well with no pinching of the toes or forefoot (I did buy the wide boots). In March, I was in Salida, CO during a major winter storm that dropped over 2 feet of snow. I wore these boots hiking and snowshoeing during and after the storm and they were great. My feet never got cold, they were 100% waterproof, and were very supportive through my ankles. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking to buy winter boots.
I bought these to test them out for winter camping and winter snowshoeing around Mount Rainier. For 2 years of use, probably 30 mi of snow camping on trails. I highly recommend these. My feet are always warm, cozy and secure. Best pair of winter boots I've ever owned.
I just got these boots and the one of the metal pieces that hold the laces is broke
Like the boot but returning them due to cheap lacing, plastic hooks. Very disappointed and have to return. This boot should have metal devices, what the heck OBOZ!!!
I only pull these boots out when there’s a lot of snow on the ground. For anything else, they’re a bit overkill. They perform as advertised. The waterproofing has held up over the course of the past few years, as has the insulation. The one thing that I wish these boots had was a little bit more flexibility. Even after a lot of use they’re quite stiff and make me feel less agile than other insulated boots I’ve worn over the years. Aside from that, however, these boots have served me well and will continue to do so.
At last. A pair of winter boots that fit right out of the box. Loved the insoles as they worked perfectly with my feet. Boots are warm and feet stay dry but I am not wading through streams or ponds with them. A bit of ankle rub on one foot but I am working through that as the uppers become more limber. Good for winter hiking and general winter outdoor wear.
These are comfortable and warm, my only negative would be the soles are a little clunky, they tend to grab projections and I find myself tripping on things I would not normally trip on. Over all a good boot at a good price.
