Great... but pilling

The Good: Amazing shirt. I wore it on a few hikes so far and it's very comfortable. I sweat a lot and the moisture wicking has been fantastic. It drys quickly and I was comfortable in just that shirt hiking from 39 degrees up to 60 degrees so far. (As a Wim How guy) Also, being merino it doesn't stink. I sweat in it and wore it a few times in the mountains and it didn't stink at all. The Bad: It started to pill after the first wash. I followed the instructions and hung it up to dry (no dryer) so I'm concerned with how it will hold up over time. Honestly I don't know and it might be fine but when you pay $75 for a t-shirt (sorry Macklemore) the picky side kicks in.

No t-shirts were harmed during this review

All weather bike commuter in need of another base layer (can one actually have enough?). Loved my lighter smart wool t-shirt, so decided that another couldn’t be so bad, right? “Right!” my torso loudly exclaims. Fitted for comfort, long enough to protect one’s cycle-position modesty, and just thick enough to provide essential base layer temp regulation. Even in sub-freezing weather, I simply use this layer, a fitted yak wool sweater, and a workshirt-like wind jacket, and I’m good-to-go. But, wait, there’s more! This actually makes an amazing warm weather shirt too. Merino wool is the all weather go-to fabric. Highly recommend this particular fit.

Performed better than polypro or cotton.

Comfortable, insulating, yet also not hot. Doesn't absorb odors. Cleans up well. I used mine all week as a boat shirt on a recent St Croix dive trip. I've used cotton and polypro shirts for this application in some prior dive trips. Ocean water makes them stink by the end of the week of diving. (I don't know what it is about seawater that has that effect - it just does). But his shirt didn't stink at the end of the week. The shirt also cleaned up nicely once laundered it back home in Colorado. I will buy again.

It’s soft and makes you happy

My husband bought the blue one on a whim. He was not sure what it would be like for running, as he mainly runs in synthetic fiber shirts. Let me tell you he won’t take it off. He loves this shirt so much he bought 3 more and wishes all his shirts were made from Smartwool, not just those for running. I am only writing this review because I feel if he can derive this much joy from a running shirt, others should know about this secret too. Ask yourself why would you deprive yourself from this joy? It’s like woven happiness for your runs.

Very nice base layer - runs a bit large

This is a great shirt for a base layer or by itself as a t-shirt. The fabric is really nice looking and soft. I usually wear an XL but these seem to run a little large, so I got a Large and it fits perfect for a base layer: snug but not tight. Also the fabric has a decent amount of stretch to it, making it very comfortable. I will probably also get an XL to wear as a more relaxed fitting t-shirt to wear by itself.

Wanted to like, but had to return

I bought two of these shirts for travel and activities (hike/bike etc). The look and fit was very nice and I wanted to like the shirts. However, when I warmed up and started to get a little sweaty, the shirt felt very scratchy and itchy. The feeling went away when I cooled down, but came back as I warmed up. Maybe my skin is on the sensitive side. The anti-odor is true and it smells way less than a synthetic shirt after being worn a couple days. I wanted to like them, but I had to return because of the itchiness. I might try a wool blend instead.

88% Merino Wool

This shirt is 88% merino wool. It has a nice long length for us taller people. Loose fit for the typical sizing. Only complaint is the large “plant based dye” logo that is on the shirt located on the bottom corner. Indigo blue color is a navy rather than a bright blue in the pictures

Great shirt

Bought a few of these to wear when hiking and they are great. I have worn them for 4 days without getting too terribly stinky. Comfortable enough to wear all the time, I may replace all my t-shirts with these.

Great shirt for the outdoors

This is a very comfortable shirt that is a combination of a great wicking fabric as well as very stretchable to allow freedom of movement. Used 2 of them while backpacking on the pacific crest trail
