Love this bag! I've had it for about 3 years now, and have run it through the gauntlet with flying, camping, day trips, hiking, using for school etc. The interior and exterior compartments are well thought out with the exception that there's no dedicated hole for a hydration tube. The problem is easily enough fixed by using the laptop sleeve for your bladder and leaving the zipper open a bit to pass the hose through. Bag has good compression cords and a thoughtful top compartment with a soft microfiber lining that's great for sunglasses you don't want dinged up. The 2 water bottle holders are a life saver and can easily hold large bottles. (I use a 40 oz Iron flask most the time)
This pack seems well-made and the features are nice. I wasn't a huge fan of the color choices but ordered the mineral gray. It is darker than it appeared on the screen, which I like. Not a fan of the teal interior, but will live with it. Others noted a flimsiness, which I don't see. The back is padded and stiff, even without a computer inside. Also, there is a chest strap, so I see no way this could fall off your shoulders, as others have noted. Unless you don't use the strap as intended. Overall, I am really happy with this purchase.
I purchased this bag as a replacement for my beloved 32L REI-brand backpack that lasted 6 years before one of the zippers finally failed. This bag is also 32L, but the dimensions don't work for me, unfortunately, and the laptop compartment isn't something I need so it's basically a waste of usable pack space. There are very few 32L packs that come w/o a dedicated laptop compartment so I'd be willing to overlook that if it was wider, but it tapers at both the top and bottom. I bike to/from work every day and use my backpack to haul clothes, shoes, groceries, and other essentials. Unfortunately the dimensions of this make it very hard to fit my shoes at the bottom (for reference I'm a W's size 9) - as that's a basic need for me this bag will be returned. Quality and versatility seem great with this bag so it will probably work if you don't have to carry anything wider than about 9 inches. I put some larger grocery items from my fridge into it to see what it could handle and the capacity for that is pretty good, but once the main compartment gets full the outer compartments are much harder to access. Another note: This bag felt comfortable when I carried a medium to heavy load, but I noticed this bag slipped off my shoulders when I carried a light load. My shoulders aren't broad like a swimmer but they aren't slight, either. Since this is built for a woman I was surprised the straps didn't sit right as that issue isn't something I've experienced with any backpack prior to this. Overall this bag is great quality with lots of storage options, but my needs are quite specific so I will be returning it. I truly wish I could purchase another REI brand pack exactly like the one I used to have and that REI offered more options w/o a laptop compartment... Sigh.
I’ve been searching high and low for the perfect carryon, and my search is over. This bag is big enough for a long flight, but not too big. It has a LOT of pockets, which at first seemed like overkill, but it’s just the right number for everything to have its own place: a padded sunglass pocket, a separate laptop/iPad compartment, a few pen slots and zippered mesh pockets for small things, an outside little wallet pocket that is easily accessible. The water bottle holders on the sides are actually big enough to hold water bottles! The padded shoulder straps are simple yet very comfortable, and it has a minimalist waist belt for when it gets too heavy. For all its compartments it didn’t feel like there are a million straps and zippers dangling from it. I’m really excited to have found this pack!
I'll start by saying this is not a bad bag at all. I love Gregory bags on the whole. There are a ton of pockets, compartments, organizing spaces... What drew me to this bag is the dedicated laptop compartment. I'm trying to replace a bag that I use to take things to/from work that does not have one so I feel like I am unpacking my whole bag to get to my laptop and then not packing anything up until my laptop is in there at the end of the day. My biggest gripe is the back of the bag has ZERO support at all. Super flimsy. I'm sure the idea is that there is going to be a laptop back there, which is obviously the intention. I just feel like if I sat down and leaned back on it even a little bit, and I'm not a large person, I would be concerned about my weight against my laptop. And if I wanted to use the bag without my laptop, the back would take on the shape of whatever was inside. I feel like my 18L day hike bag has a more substantial back as do my other Gregory bags and I guess that's what I was hoping for with this one. Especially since I'll be using it daily. If it were a bit more rigid/supportive, I would keep it because I love everything else, but this one is going back :(
After living with this bag for a while, I can honestly say I hate it. The shape is just weird. Nothing fits in it. The zippers stick constantly. The fabric is ugly, stiff and gets dirty easily. Not the least bit water resistant. All these tiny pouches are essentially useless. I won't be buying a gregory pack ever again.
This pack has multiple pockets with easy openings from the top. I like the padded pocket for eyeglasses, the several secure inner pockets, and the deeper, wider section for bulkier items. The woman's design fits my relatively small upper body perfectly.
Love all the pockets and laptop sleeve. Sides hold my large 32oz water bottles! Straps are very comfortable on my shoulders too. I agonized over which bag to pick. I'm happy with this one and got the grey!
Love this pack needed a new day pack/travel pack this one is perfect l! love that there is so many pockets so I can organize. I use a Reservoir and the pocket in the back fits it perfectly.
I use this as a diaper bag for my infant and toddler. I wanted something with a lot of organization and could outlast the young child days. Diaper bags are kind of all the same and just never quite cut it for me, but this is amazing and I’m glad I made the change before I went through anymore mediocre diaper bags.
