Functional and Elegant
These clamps are for a 2020 Ford Escape, but if you have flush bars, I have not seen a cleaner more elegant, or stronger product than what Thule offers. It’s pricey when all is said and done, but your car will not look like trash when you’re done installing, and you have the peace of mind of security for your gear. You will also need to purchase a boot kit for these.
New Model Year 2024 Trax
Had car 6 months before these were available. Since the OEM flush mount rails do not have a groove along the inside, you have to use the included adapter plates in the pre determined holes. This sits higher than I expected and rails cannot be moved front to back (further apart)
Does not fit flush.
Just installed after waiting forever for this fit kit to get made/be in stock. It floats above the rail. A few Jeep forums I am in said theirs also floated above the rail. Hoping Thule is planning on fixing this.
Thank you for sharing your feedback on the Thule FitKit for your vehicle. This FitKit is intended to sit slightly above the rail on the Jeep Grand Cherokee. This is because the top of the rail itself is not load bearing and is would be in danger of breaking if the crossbar sat directly on top of it. The load-bearing portion of the rack is actually the fixed points on the inside of the rail. This system has gone through the same design and testing process as all other Thule roof racks and was found to be the safest and most secure mounting position for this vehicle.
Functional, but sits too high off Jeep
The kit to fit the roof rack in the new Jeep GC L model works fine, but it sits too high off the top of the Jeep. A lower profile would be appreciated as adding things like a ski rack are impossible with most garage door openings. Given the primary purpose is to attach a roof box for long trips, it is fine for now, but it would be nice to be able to add a ski rack next ski season. I’m addition, from a security standpoint, the rack can be easily removed from the roof even when locked given the bolts that attach the fit kit are not covered and left unsecured. Please consider changing the design to be lower profile and more secure.
Thank you for your feedback on the Thule roof rack system for your Jeep Grand Cherokee. Thule rack systems are designed around the attachment hardware and mounting points present on the vehicle. The factory-installed mounting points and roofline of some Jeep Grand Cherokee models requires the roof rack to sit higher to avoid damaging the plastic molding on the roof. The rack system still passed all safety tests that all Thule rack systems undergo. Removal of the system also requires a particular wrench type that is not commonly used on other items.
Correct Thule parts delivered!
Ordered for 2025 KIA Sorento w/ flush roof rails. I already had Thule Aeroblade (54.75" end to end) and they fit with the parts below without issue. The bars extended 4.75” beyond the towers on each side so the Thule Hullavator and Yakima Showdown I have will attach properly. $399 + tax. The REI personnel were helpful and able to answer my questions. Thule Evo Flush Fit Kit Size: 186112 Item: 1828110033 Thule Evo Flush Rail Feet - Package of 4 Color: BLACK Size: One Size Item: 1828000001 I followed the included directions. They were easy to follow. It took me ~30 minutes, and I was unfamiliar with the parts in the kit.
Easy to Install. Strong Mount Point.
I had purchased Aero-blades for my previous car and was pretty happy with the flexibility they provided. When I got my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland last summer, I bought flush mounts and this kit so I could use the blades with it. Installation was easy and yes, there is a small gap as others have pointed out, but since the roof rails on the Jeep are cosmetic only, this kit provides a strong mount point for the roof racks. I leave this kit installed on my Jeep which allows me to easily install and remove the roof rack when needed. Driving with the roof racks off, I haven’t noticed any additional wind noise since installing this kit which I am very pleased about.
Perfect fit for my Mazda CX50
New model Mazda CX50 so I had limited options for a rack. Had the aeroblade rails. Had to purchase the EVO feet and this kit to mate to the car. Fit is perfect and looks great on the CX50. Mounting is easy and I liked the included torque allen wrench in the foot kit. Prevents overtightening and damage to the aluminum roof rails. Only drawbak is high price, but you get what you pay for. High quality, exact fit, and great look!
Doesn’t fit 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L
As the other reviewer said, this floats above the rail by almost 1/4” - looks terrible.
Hello Jorda, Thank you for reaching out! I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment with the FitKit system for your Jeep Grand Cherokee. As noted in the user manual, this system is intended to have a small gap over the top of the flush rail. This is because the rail itself is not load-bearing and direct contact could cause damage to it when fully loaded. The actual supporting part of the vehicle is the fixed mounting point on the side of the rail that the FitKit screws into. This FitKit went through the same design and testing process as all other Thule vehicle fit and this position was found to be the most secure for this vehicle.
Quality looking rack
I bought the entire rack for a 2020 Honda CR-V. Fits well and seems like it will last forever. It will be used for transporting our skis and snowboards to the mountain and back.
Needs to be redesign
Like all others said there is a substantial gap. I understand Thules response about the actual mounting location being in the center and not on the bar but there is ZERO reason why they couldn't properly fit and cut the rubber peds so they sit decently flush with the rail and around the metal loaded attachment. Please redesign these and issue a replacement for folks that have paid good money for your products.
Thank you for sharing your input on your Thule FitKit 186120. I understand the confusion that can come with the gap between the FitKit pad and the side rail on the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The side rail on the vehicle models this FitKit is compatible with is non-load bearing. The gap between the pad and rail prevents it from damaging the vehicle. If you are experiencing a gap between these components, the FitKit is operating as expected and is capable of holding up to the certified maximum weight capacity of 165 pounds.
