Best traction on ice and snow!

These spikes are great! My husband and I wore them hiking in snow and ice conditions and didn’t slip once. We watched other people slipping wearing chain traction but we were sure footed in these. Easily packable and very easy to clean. Highly recommend.

Putting Hillsound Flexsteps on my boots
Rmyers
Attractive looking spikes system, however I found them more difficult to put on my boots. I order the Hillsound Flexsteps, one size larger to fit over my boots and was disappointed. It takes me approximately three or four additional steps to put these spikes on my boots. With a competitor spike system, I simply loop the rubber strap holding the spikes over the toe, then pull the heel strap over the heel - all done.

Did the job...no slipping!

Decided to upgrade from and older pair of cleats I owned that only had coils on the heal and carbide tips on the ball of the foot. These larger, sharp cleats were amazing for a recent winter backpack trip. Lots of clumbing up fairly steep trails that were snow and ice covered and i was blown away at how stable my walk was. No slipping at all. Took them off to compare and it was a huge difference. They went right back on my boots. When walking on a hard parking lot surface on our way in, I expected I would feel them since they are relatively tall, but I really never noticed them.very pleased i have them.

Great traction and they stay on!

We had tried a number of slip on traction devices in recent years. We hike a lot on fairly uneven and steep mountain trails that get very snowy and lots of ice. The problem I usually have is within a few miles, I throw one or both cleats. I bought these for myself and my wife and we both have logged about 30 miles with them on our favorite trails, lots of ice and snow. They provide superb traction and most importantly do not slip off. I can’t say anything about their durability as we just started using them, but if they last as well as I suspect they will, we will be happy hikers for many years to come.

Great balance between traction and weight

These are a very good middle ground between some of the cheaper/less "spiky" devices meant for running, yet not as intense as a full on crampon. The spikes don't look that deep nor do they look effective, but for really hard packed snow or icy conditions, they really do the job. On slush or loose snow, though, it's not necessarily the best, but for the price point, you're not going to cover all conditions. I have a medium and wore these on a size 10 Danner 2650 hiking shoe, and they fit fine without stretching the rubber too much, so the durability should be fine.

Streets and trails

First used these on ice-packed streets and sidewalks while walking the dog; cleats worked so well I went out of my way to stay on icy patches rather than the concrete. Then took them hiking in a variety of conditions on the Gunflint Trail along the Minnesota-Canadian border; their grip made for much-surer footing, definitely on packed, crusty and refrozen snow, but also in loose snow situations. Easy to put on, secure once you tug them into place, and definitely sturdier than the similar brand than they replaced.

Great Product

I am very happy with my purchase of the FlexSteps. At first I thought that I was going to have a hard time using them especially when I was wearing my running shoes. The traction system really came in handy this last week as we had a freeze and not once that I slip while wearing them. This was really important to me as I had injured my neck and I could not take a chance in taking a spill. Have used them on my eye boots as well as my running shoes and the FlexSteps work with both without any issues.

All around traction

I found the Flexsteps to be the perfect blend of traction and comfort. Although the spikes are slightly shorter than some other options like the trail crampon, there are 18 of them and I have felt secure everywhere that I used them. The toe strap is a great feature that I haven't had on other cleats that I have owned. I have mostly used these on trails where the snow is well compacted.

Great traction devices!

I got these for my wife to use for winter hiking, when there’s not a lot of snow on the trail, and she loves them. The grip on snow and ice is really good. They adjustable strap on top could make them tighter on your shoes for winter runners. Overall, great product!

Never Slip, complete confidence

We used these on a trail in Michigan that was 90% ice covered. Not a super hilly hike, but on the small hills, we were able to navigate them with ease. They allowed us to walk at our brisk pace never once feeling like we were going to fall. They stay on our boots very securely and while they do add some weight your shoe, it's never really that noticeable. Haven't tried running with them yet, but cannot imagine it will be any different. Highly recommended, don't go for the cheap ones, spend a little more for these and it'll be worth it.

Damaged the soles of my boots

These crampons ruined the treads of my boots and my wife’s boots due to the numerous hard plastic “grip” bumps on the surface of the product. I had to use a rotary tool today, to grind the plastic bumps off, to prevent further damage to our boots. In addition, I’ve used these maybe 4 times on packed snow and ice and I’ve lost 1 metal tooth in my left crampon, and 1 in my right crampon. I will never buy the FlexSteps Crampons again and would opt for an all-metal design like the FreeSteps6 instead. I’m giving it 2 stars because it still provides traction on ice, even though it’s a flawed product that destroyed 2 pairs of boots worth approx. $400. Not impressed.
