Incompatible with Bosch Smart System battery

If your e-bike uses the newer Bosch Smart System (aka System 3) battery or the PowerMore 250 range extender, this charger WILL NOT WORK because the connector is physically different. The Smart System uses a 4-pin connector while this battery charger only has 3 pins. The description is misleading because it mentions that it can be made compatible with an adapter plug (not included). After searching all over the internet I wasn’t able to find any such adapter. In fact I learned quite the opposite: you might be able to charge the older System 2 batteries with the newer Smart System charger with the appropriate adapter cable, but not the other way around. In other words you cannot use the older System 2 battery charger (referred to as “Standard charger”) to charge System 3 Smart System batteries. Instead you will need to purchase the Bosch Smart System Charger, which should have the Smart System logo on the box and a 4-pin connector.

Not compatible with PowerPack 545 batteries

Bought this when the charger that came with my Tern died on me. While this charger claims to be compatible with Bosch PowerPack batteries it has a completely different plug than what is found on my Bosch PowerPack 545 battery. Not a flaw of the product per se, more a flaw on REI’s part for not being more clear with regards to compatibility.
