Herschel Supply Co.  Pop Quiz Pack

I needed a backpack for travel, and this Herschel bag fits the bill. I wanted something lightweight but sturdy, with enough space and compartments to keep my things organized. I use it as my “personal item” when I fly along with a navy Away carry on roller bag. I chose the light tan color (can’t remember the name) and it’s the perfect classic preppy neutral w my navy bag. I have tried so many other backpacks and ended up returning them bc they are cheaply made or have weird zipper situations, but this one is perfect. I had been using my kids’ old Herschel school backpacks and decided I deserve one of my own :) I know it will last years and years

I purchased a Pop Quiz backpack for my daughter's first year of high school. She was looking for a classic backpack with a leather base. After one day of use, the synthetic leather on the handle started cracking and peeling apart. A few days later, the material on the base of the backpack also started disintegrating. The rest of the backpack seems to be well constructed, but the poor quality of the fake leather is unacceptable. I currently have a warranty claim with Herschel and am expecting delays as I'm sure countless customers are trying to get replacements for this defective product.

Very pleased with this backpack, which was a replacement for a normal size Retreat model. Backpack is for work use, and very pleased with the grey hatch colour - looks smart and I hope will not show dirt too easily. Love the various organiser pockets, especially the sunglass section at the top. Fits my 15" laptop perfectly, along with everything I need for work. Only criticism (which is small) is that currently it's a little difficult to unzip the 2 back zips, as the covering flap is quite stiff - but I'm sure this will loosen up with time. Very happy, would recommend.

The bottom of the bag and the handle on top is not the nice fake leather that the other bags have, it’s just the canvas material that the rest of the bag has. This is my second pop quiz, and I prefer the leather one I had before this one, as I bring my bag to the gym a lot and I want the extra durability on the bottom. It’s not the end of the world (it’s still a decent bag) I just wish the website made it more explicit that the—saddle brown!— bottom of the bag, unlike a saddle, is canvas, not leather.

Great bag, have used the pop quiz daily for 8yrs now. Zip broke after 8yrs and Herschel replaced mine for free, pretty awesome warranty. Love this bag for the protected top pouch, the soft padded laptop compartment (comfortably fits my 16" MacBook), and just being comfortable to wear. I have used it for uni and work without any issues. Only issue with my new bag is the zips and bag are quite stiff. I know this will resolve over time, but would be nice to not have to fight with my bag.

This backpack seems sturdy enough but my issue is with the zippers. The zippers are hard to pull to close up the backpack. I can deal with it if its just one zipper but all the zippers won't close easily. On the positive side once I do zipper up, at least I know the contents won't fall out of the backpack easily. I'm hoping that with time, the zippers will give more easily. Other than that, it seems to be a sturdy backpack that will last a few years.

I bought this last year. It still staying strong. I thought it was suppose to come with a water bottle pocket inside the bag, it did not. I also thought it was suppose to come with a earbud wire hole thingy, it did not. I didn't really need those pockets personally so I just stuck with the bag instead of returning it. However if that is a deal breaker I suggest choosing a different style. Overall, I would say the bag does its job.

I recently bought this backpack for the upcoming school year and it has quickly become my favorite. The high quality and unique design make it stand out among other backpacks I've owned. The front organizer is a great feature for keeping all my school supplies organized. One thing to note is the leather at the bottom is somewhat delicate and can be easily damaged. Despite that, it remains one of the best backpacks I've ever used

When I was doing research into this product, I made sure to purchase a backpack that had side pockets. This backpack has pockets on the side, but they are sewn shut, meaning one cannot carry a water bottle unless they want to keep it in the main zippered section. Additionally, returning a product seems to have been made intentionally difficult.

I got it as a gift for everyday use as a grad student, I am always on the go. This backpack can carry everything I need. Although the item is black, sometimes I notice a lot of dust and dirt, but i guess it will become a little dirty bringing it with me everywhere. Overall, I am satisfied with the product and my back is grateful for that.
