These shoes have been great spring shoes as the snow melts and portions of the trails are muddy or still have snow and puddles of water. The sizes run larger than other shoes I wear by about a half size. I entered a size 11 online, wish I had tried a 10.5 or 10 if I had gotten these in person at a store. The shoes I have are very comfortable, but I wish they fit tighter. You can see the excess room and loose fit in the photos, I hope this would be addressed if I had a better size shoe. I would have also benefited from a salesperson showing me the little pocket to tuck the tension lacing into so the laces don’t flap around. I cinched mine tight and had a trip hazard on my first walk, then I figured out the tuck-in pocket. These shoes have great traction and are not really for urban or extended use on pavement, since the traction sole material is tacky and soft. With aggressive chevron lugs, these are great for gripping in mud, melting snow and the loose, sandy granite soil here.. I have been using these for less than two months, so I can’t speak to long-term durability. Extended use on pavement seems like it would quickly wear down the aggressive tread. Out of the box, these are very water resistant shoes. I stood in water for 30 seconds, almost to the ankle and deep enough to test the lacing. No leaks, but it seems the seam would leak at some point with more use and stretching, but they are impressively water tight when new. The shoes feel like they are best used hiking in the spring snowmelt and the sandy mud. Long rocky hikes in hot conditions do not seem appealing in these shoes. The almost waterproof material won’t breath well in hot weather. Good, aggressive shoes for the spring snowmelt conditions I have used them in. Unsure about durability after extended use, maybe I can update in a few months.
I picked up a pair at Uloha in Honolulu, Hi a great shop If you need gear in Hawaii. I hiked the Ka’au Crater trail about a 7 mile loop and 2500 climb. Mixed terrain from rocky to climbing in muddy terrain with lots of rain. The boot provided great traction and fit like a glove and kept stream water out. When I got home and started cleaning noticed separation of material where toes bend. Did not feel any water leakage during hike. I returned to Uloha and they gave me another pair. I really like fit and feel of boot and hope this pair don’t fail the same way on Mt. Olympus. Photos give an idea of terrain.

After going on my first 5 day camping trip with the family and using these boots for all of those days without taking them off, only for bed, not ever wanting to switch them with my toe shoes or flip flops I have decided to buy another pair for work. We went to sequoia National park with lots of dirt and plenty of walking and never have I had more comfy feet protectors. For my second pair I bought REi insoles and it’s an even better fit and feel. If you want boots that feel good while you are in your feet all day then I recommend these but a long shot. The boot/shoe bends just enough that it didn’t hurt my Arthritic toe which all other shoes do.
used this boots for a hiking trip to Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands and Grand Canyon and they were very confortable and easy to take in and out when getting in to the RV, Definitely love them and recommend them.
This boots were great out of the box and checked all the boxes for me. Lightweight, easy on / off, waterproof and great color schemes. BUT.....after several months of wear and tear they are starting to fall apart on me. As you can see in the pics, the seems are coming apart between the sole and upper. Likely a one off issue in my mind as have never had an issue with Salomon before, but curious if others are having this issue.

This shoe is my new favorite! Its light weight and quite durable. This is great for most terrains with the only limitations being the amount of flex you get over some heavy extended rocky hikes, though the heavy lugs didnt get shredded in those conditions. I recommend this for everything but pavement. I did have an issue with the eyelet on one side of one shoe snagging the lace
I have had these 4 months, and have used them for daily dog walking. At first I was very pleased with them. They're lightweight and comfortable but still give plenty of support. Unfortunately, they don't seem very durable. The outer material on both boots has started to split, and they now leak. Not what I expected considering how much they cost.
Dear Geoff, I am sorry that you are having issues with your shoes. Our customer service has sent you an email so that this can be looked into. Kind regards, Jan
My hubby has some of the craziest arches I’ve seen (vs my duck feet) so he usually needs a lot of support. He normally wears ASICS, Hokas, etc. and found these to be lovely. They are light, supportive, and “look freaking sweet.” We live in the PNW and they’ve handled rain and mud very well from hikes to disc golf. The only potential con is that they’re clearly made to be moving, so standing for long periods (fishing) was a bit uncomfortable, but he goes through that with all hiking boots. He normally wears a 10.5 but we got an 11 so that he could wear thick socks comfortably- we needed that. Love them, especially for the sale price!
These shoes are very comfortable and great for trails (especially with melting snow). I found that they are waterproof just below your ankle and have great support. They are a bit snug on the sides of your foot and the arch in the center of the foot is comfortable and supportive. If you have very wide feet or do not like arch support, you should try them on in the store before buying. I live in Minnesota and the winters can become very cold - I found that these shoes are good down to 15 F but not -15 F (the insulation is minimal). These are excellent for trail running as they are light weight and have deep traction on the sole, which gives great grip in the snow. As with most shoes, they do not have traction on ice (I added yaktrax for that). You may have noticed that I called these shoes and not boots. This is due to the lace system which struggles to keep the shoe tight around your ankle. This makes these feel more like a shoe and not a boot. If you are looking for a boot with great ankle support, I would not buy these.
Held up great through 30+ miles on the PCT. Hiked through some snow & slush but they kept my feet dry and comfortable. No need to break them in, they are a nice hybrid hiking shoe. Not a whole lot of ankle support, even when quick lace system is tight, but that’s actually just fine for the way I hike. I wanted the freedom of a low top hiking sneaker, (Hoka ATR-6) with Gortex and ankle coverage. These did perfect. Im usually a 13 wide & bought these in size13 they fit great.
