Pretty Good, maybe not for tall people

These are good bibs for the price, vent/breath well, keep me dry after hours wet snowfall, and have all the basics you'd want at this price point. I purchased a Large based on the size chart and past experience with OR ski pants and running shorts. I'm 6'5" and 197lbs with a slim athletic build and a 35" waist I find that the waist and even the thighs are a bit thin/small for a size that is suppose to fit a 37.5" waist and I have the suspenders let all the way out. Even then when I bend over or if I was to drop into a telemark turn the bibs are tight in the seat and even bind a bit. If OR is going to sell bibs they should include a height range on the size charts. Two other minor areas of improvement is that the lower leg flare is a bit more than needed and I would prefer (and left handed individuals might agree) that the chest pocket zipper be oriented horizontally across the top of the pocket rather than angled on the far right side of the pocket. I find it awkward to have so much of the pocket's interior way over on the left side of the bib and the zipper over on the right side. Also, the color of the blue bibs is much darker than shown in the REI product picture

Not durable

I loved the bib but it did not hold up. It didn't even last two seasons before the butt wore thin and started to let water in. It eventually got thin enough to tear and I contacted outdoor research. They said the warranty doesn't cover rips and offered to send a five dollar patch sticker. I expected better longevity in the first place and was incredibly disappointed by their lack of help. I'm genuinely sad because I liked the arcade straps and the bib in general but two seasons at this price is unacceptable so I bought a north face bib.

"User error"

I wore these less than ten times and had pinhole tears on one leg. It was frustrating that the material couldn't stand up to a handful of resort skiing days, even worse was that it the Outdoor Research warranty team was unable to replace them. I would absolutely not buy these again given the issues with durability alone, and will be staying away from other OR products due to their warranty issues, which is also frustrating because I have enjoyed numerous other products they make for both work and recreation.

I have used these bibs inbounds as well as on some ridge hikes and short tours. These are the most comfortable bibs I have ever worn. The lighter Pertex fabric has a good bit of stretch but seems to hold up for almost all conditions. I haven't had any weather or durability issues and these have seen some wet snow storms and crashes/plenty of rubbing in the trees. The fit is a bit tight through the thighs but the stretch of the fabric makes up for it and I really appreciate the comfort and features thru the torso. These aren't as bombproof as your typical gore tex 3L bibs but I imagine these are the better choice for the majority of people.

Excellent product, baggy fit

Took the Carbide Bib resort-skiing and snowshoeing in the Canadian Rockies. Water repellent works well out of the gate, no need to apply wax or waterproofing product prior to first use like some "waterproof" equipment seems to need. I was skiing in slushy near-freezing snow and didn't have any issues with moisture getting in through the zippers or fabric. Bone dry at the end of the day. Excellent ankle elastic gaiters. No issues with getting snow up the ankles. Could use a few more pockets in the chest area. Fit is on the big side, at least for me. I suppose the benefit of that is many many layers can fit underneath with high flexibility in the knees and hips.

Great active fit, Very stretchy, Quality construction

I am 6'4", 220lb and ordered the Carbide bib in a large. Overall, I am very impressed with the Carbide bib. The fit and stretch are great for backcountry ventures and do not impede my range of movement at all! I have used a fair deal of outerwear products from a variety of brands, but I am truly impressed by the quality and detailed construction of these pants, especially for the comparably low price point. I will definitely be getting more stretchy Pertex OR equipment in the foreseeable future. The only negative comment I have is that my phone gets damp with condensation in the front chest pocket. Maybe its better suited for snacks or gear other than your electronics.

Siiick Bibs!

I've used these probably two dozen times for some snow action and for work related activities where I would've gotten wet. Awesome bibs. Lightweight, tough, and utilitarian. Fit pretty true to size maybe a tad long in the leg, but I've got some stubby donkey legs so most likely more so my fault that the bibs. They breath well too. I don't really wear layers under these. Just some thermal leggings maybe. I've never gotten cold or too hot in these. The pockets and zippers are great and allow you to get into the pockets of under layers if needed. Only complaint is the chest pocket is a bit small, and I wish the legs unzipped all the way for easy removal without taking off shoes.

Heed the warnings, these have a weird fit.

I can confirm the weird fit of these bibs. I'm 6' 195, athletic, and went with a Large per other reviews (even though I usually wear a M in pants). It was the correct size as the medium likely would have been too tight on my thighs. However, the bib part is weirdly large and the back of it rises way too high. Otherwise they seem like they would be good bibs. However, I didn't like the fit so I returned it. I love OR gear, but lately the sizing/fit of their pants has been completely bizarre and I will start focusing on other brands if they don't get it figured out. As it is, I bought a different brand's bibs.

Runs VERY tall + not thick/burly enough for resort skiing

First off, these pants run VERY tall. I am 5'9" and 150lbs. I tried on a Small and they were too snug throughout the chest to comfortably fit any layers underneath so I purchased a Medium. Apparently this was a mistake because these things are huge! They looked like fishing waders on me! I used them for two weekends but ended up swapping some gear with a friend (6'2" / 175lbs) and these fit him much better. Just be aware of the length when you buy. In terms of quality they're very soft and flexible, however I do not endorse them for resort use. I think they'd get ripped up easily and are not particularly warm. Use them for backcountry touring and I think you'll be very happy.

Great Bibs

If you are looking for some lightweight bibs for everyday backcountry skiing, these are awesome. I find most bibs to be burly but these are not. The cuffs easily fit over my touring boots in hike mode. The fit is nice. I'm 6'2", 200lbs and I thought they might be a little short but they are just right. I have a size Large. I've used them a dozen days so far and I am pleased. All this being said, I feel like they may get a little beat up with the roughness of ski mountaineering especially with the use of crampons but I have yet to test them out in that scenario. But, I don't believe they were designed to be that rugged so that is not a downside. Can't beat the price for the quality.
