Super breathable but still very warm... At the same time, you won't want to skin up anything with them on when the temp is above freezing. But they are perfect for the down or days on the resort. I haven't had to wear liners with them on some pretty cold days above treeline so far. I have pretty small hands for a 25-year-old dude and I went with a medium which is perfect for me. Fit as expect. I always wear a medium. Could do small but I like a medium in case of needing a thin liner. My only thing is the fingers are a little thick and I ride the shift binding, so sometimes it's hard to transition the binding for up or down with them on.

Warm!

I don't have the greatest circulation in my hands but these babies kept them toasty on several days when the mercury dropped below -20C, even at rest. Totally windproof, I was also wearing these on one of those oh-so-lovely rainy winter days we are graced with here in southeastern Ontario and they remained completely dry after exposure of about an hour. They are a tad bulky owing to the cinch-able long cuffs for every day use but are totally manageable if you are patient. The leather used appears to be of high quality and hasn't shown any sign of wear, although I'm not really putting them through and real work.

Great gloves, good ideas, poor execution in usage

Good gloves with good warmth, works well in 20 - 40 degree weather. The leather is supple and flexible as well as durable, can withstand snowboard toe edge powder grab recoveries all day no problem. The dexterity is an issue. Handling of phones and buckles lacking due to a lack of precurve and compression of insulation due to the lack of this feature. Interaction with snowboard bindings also poses some issues due to the poor dexterity. Arcteryx fission sv and black diamond guide are both great gloves that incorporate this. The internal insulation is poor at rejecting moisture and absorbs it quite readily. This results in a situation where you cannot put your fingers in when they are wet as they create binding friction between the internal layer and your finger so you can't seat your fingers properly within the glove. Furthermore, the problem is exacerbated when your fingers are wet because you are constantly taking them out of the glove to actually interact with objects. If you are buying gloves to be interacting with things frequently, look elsewhere. I am returning these because of this reason. These gloves NEED a liner. Otherwise, these gloves are quite well thought out and engineered. The structure of the finger leather (longest strip runs over finger to under rather than left to right increasing the durability due to the lack of stitches in the most common grab point), the cuff straps are removable, replaceable, and reorientable (a bit long for my taste but nothing a quick twist around the wrist can't fix), good reinforcement points and pull tabs, good coverage, good etip functionality, good leather suppleness, the insulation doesn't move around due to their new vertical x grid linked insulation technology. OR does very well with engineering as usual, and the things I want out of a glove do not come at this price point. If you want an elite glove, you will be paying more than this to be honest. Alternatives: Gordini < Rab = OR Carbinde (this glove) < dakine phoenix < black diamond guide < arcteryx fission sv

Super Warm

Okay, this was an indulgence buy. I’m not big on gloves, but when doing 30 degree and below backpacking treks these have been absolutely AMAZING! No regrets whatsoever. Pulling them on with the straps and having them hang when I don’t need them have been additional features I’ve enjoyed. Perfect for what I need.

Good for me to -15F

I picked up a pair of these for a snowmobile trip to NY state. When I woke up Sunday morning it was -15F...Never got above 10 degrees F all day. I wore these straight with no liner and my hands were never cold...grip and thumb warmers aside, they kept my hands warm when we were off the sleds. My big concern was the back of the hand from the wind but it was alright. Dexterity's a little low but that's what you get for super warm hands. I wish the cuff was just a little bit bigger to make it easier to get on over cuffs. The bridals are nice so you don't have to worry about dropping gloves...never noticed them which was a concern at first. All around, 9/10. I'd prob wear these skiing or snowmobiling from -20F to +20F...Anything warmer and your hands would prob get hot.

Good not Great

I use these exclusively for skiing. I live on the West Coast of Canada and primarily ski at Whistler, therefore in wet/windy conditions a lot. These gloves are pretty warm and the wrist straps are awesome for ease-of-use when having to take the gloves off. Biggest downside is the Waterproofness. These are gore-tex gloves, but your hands still get wet after a day of skiing in wet snow conditions. I wasn't terribly impressed with this as OR states that the are 5/5 for waterproofness (I would hate to see what anything less than 5/5 would be if this is the case). The gloves look cool, but are quite bulky and therefore I often have to take my hands out if I want to do anything precise (eg. do up my bindings, etc.). Not a bad buy, but the fact my hands get wet when I ski with these is a pretty big bummer.

Good glove but still has some room for improvement.

I like the leather material covering hand which is durable and strong against scratch. The fabric covering wrist and lower arm, however, is easily ripped. On the first day on skiing, it was ripped when I fell. It should have been more thick and strong fabric. The inner parts of the glove easily separated from shell and coming out with hand when I take it off after skiing. I have to be careful and hold the fingertip tightly especially when my hand has moisture after 2 hours of skiing.

Great gloves for cold midwinter days and lots of snow

Overall great glove. Kept my hands warm and dry during cold ski days. I fell into a steam and got them soaking wet and they still kept my hands warm for the rest of the afternoon. These are very warm gloves. On warmer spring days or if your hands run hot they may be a bit too much. They do dry slowly with all the leather on the fingers and palms, but that isn't too big an issue if you avoid taking them for a swim like I did.

Carbide Sensor Gloves

Gloves are a bit smaller than expected for XL. The fingers are a bit short. Gloves kept my hands warm, but only down to about 20 degrees. Wet hands are difficult to get into the gloves. I do like the gloves, and will keep them, but they aren't a wet/low temp glove for me. I really like the wrist leashes. I thought I would remove them, but they are really great to have.

Not good for a cold day

These were not as warm as i expected. Used them for snowshoeing, it was about 18 F, fingers got cold. They are good for anything above that.
