Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Not as waterproof as I'd like
Loved the visibility. A few quality issues made it feel odd to me. See photo, but there were some odd deformations that appeared at some point. Not sure what caused these. My partner noticed, took a photo, and thought it looked like it was getting these dimples or indentations wherever a drop hit it. It also seemed to get dirty very easily. It had only been in a relatively clean backpack or worn, but the sleeves showed a ton of dirt marks. I actually wore it in a shower to try and lightly rub off the dirty marks, but that didn't help. I eventually decided that I was feeling a bit damp when I finally got to test this in rain. That was enough for me to return it.
Best Bike Rain Jacket in years.
I’ve been wearing this jacket for 3 months now and, overall, I’m very impressed. At first I was disappointed with the hood which fits comfortably over my XL helmet because it kept blowing off, but I learned that if I tension the draw string on the back of the hood it held it firmly to my helmet and didn’t blow back. We’ve had one of the rainiest summers in years and I’ve remained exceptionally dry wearing this jacket. So much so I bought a second one. The only improvement I’d recommend would be a few more reflective stripes. I quite often ride at night, thus being highly visible is really important to me.
The zipper works after break-in period.
I picked this jacket up from REI about 6 months ago. I have worn it mostly for walking the dogs after dark. Thanks to its color and reflective strips, it is very visible (My daughter calls it my grossly incandescent jacket). The jacket also works well as a wind breaker. I have only been caught in one rainy downpour for about 20 minutes, but managed to stay fairly dry underneath. Initially, the zipper was hard to zip at the base unless you got it just right, but after about 20 good zips, it has worked much more reliably. On colder days or cold bike rides, I recommend a base layer for warmth. I am 5'10" and 148 pounds, and the medium fits just right.
Great Rain Jacket
I started bike commuting and needed something for the rainy days and wind. Rained the next time I rode after buying this. Kept the rain off. The under arm vents help dump excess body heat. One thing I can’t remember seeing in the description is that it has a double zipper so you can zip open from the bottom of the jacket which helps with cooling off while riding. The hood has a cinching strap that allows for lot of adjustment so you can also hood up without a helmet on when you’re not riding. The length seemed good. Saw some previous reviews saying people sweat a ton while wearing this… my commute is 12 miles one way with some good hills so I sweat regardless. I Did not notice any additional heat buildup. It is very packable and light weight. Highly recommend.
My ample paunch
I ordered mine per the sizing guide (I got an XXL), but maybe should have gone one size up to factor in my belly. As a result it feels a bit short at the waist. Guess I’ll keep riding until it fits me better! Yes, as someone else mentioned, it is lightweight, but if you’re riding in colder temperatures, the idea is to do layers of an onion. This jacket is a good outer layer against wet and wind… I can wear one or more layers using other garments underneath to stay warm. It traps moisture and heat as you sweat, but there are pit zips to minimize that effect… use them! No rear pockets, just the two in front and the napoleon up high. Then again, if it’s raining, you’d probably tuck whatever it is into a rear pocket on a jersey underneath. The snap system on the hood is smart - fully open fits a helmet, one snap down fits your head, or roll it up, snap it and stow it in the collar. (But what if you have a light on the back or front of your helmet? Worth considering.) The cuffs don’t have elastic so if you’ve got them ‘battened down’ (strapped tight), you’ll need to undo the Velcro to take them off. Overall I really like the jacket and expect that it will help me keep bike commuting through the Chicago winter!
Great jacket with a so-so hood
I've used this a few times biking locally and on a bikepacking trip. I like the ventilation - it kept me pretty dry except during times of generating lots of heat and sweat. It is designed to be a shell and is packable, just what I want. I struggled to get the hood to not blow off of my helmet. Maybe because I have an XL Specialized helmet with a short visor, it just doesn't want to stay on. I recommend a visor or hat for using this for walking around - the floppy hood kept getting in my eyes when I don't have the helmet on.
Does an OK Job
I am a bigger guy, so finding (any) bike clothes that fit is a challenge. This rain jacket fits. both oil arm length, back length and girth. I think this is a jacket that can be used in both wind and rain, but I am not too sure yet how it will do as far as passing moisture out once the body heats up when it is damp out. It does have vents, and the hood, is huge. In fact, I would almost say it is too big, depending on what type of hemet you use, if any. I think it is a good buy, at the price REI has and you can't beat the guarantee.
Early impressions- Men's Junction Cycling Rain Jkt
I'm commute by bike in Portland, OR so good rain gear is important. For years, I've used a rain parka from a local company and like it. When I saw this REI rain jacket on sale I decided to give it a try. Here are some early impressions: PRO- 1- Ultra yellow color is great! Good for visibility in traffic. 2- Sizing is pretty good; I wear a 35 inch sleeve in dress shirts. The XL sleeves were too short for me so I got a XXL. I think the sleeves will be long enough to overlap with my waterproof gloves. Haven't tested that yet in heavy rain. -3- Small zip chest pocket on left side is a good feature. -4- Large hood folds up into collar so I can ride, in rain, without the hood open and collecting water. I prefer to not ride with hood up because it limits vision. -5- Dual slider front zipper is good for venting & access to inner layers. CON- 1- The tail is cut too short in back; I'm afraid there may not be enough overlap with the waist of my rain pants when I lean forward. 2- Not enough reflective material for night riding in rainy, low visibility weather. IF I decide to keep this parka I'll definitely sew on some additional reflective tape in places where it won't compromise the waterproof shell. -3- No drawstring in hem of parka. I'd recommend to a friend but definitely with qualifications as noted above. I want to give this jacket more of a workout before I decide.
Pretty Good All around Jacket Except....
I wear this jacket everyday I go riding as others have said great rain jacket and keeps you warm for my early morning rides... hood, pockets and bright color makes this jacket even more appealing BUT the zipper is sooooo awful. You have to waste time getting the zip to work right. COME ON REI... the zipper sucks fix this and I can give this jacket 5 stars.
Solid jacket - very happy with it
Bought this to replace a similar Pearl iZumi jacket which had worn out after many years of use, and I actually think I may like this REI jacket better. Keeps me dry and warm on my commute. Highly visible. Adjustable hood is nice to be able to wear when not biking / wearing a bike helmet. Solid construction feels like it will last a long time.
