Second Arcteryx atom I’ve owned. Last one was from 2019. They updated the zipper tabs and hem length. It’s longer on the bottom and the zippers have a rubber pull tab. Side panels stretch and add breathability. I’m 5’7 175 lbs and the medium had a little bit of room not skin tight. The small doesn’t fit my back. In the medium it doesn’t feel like my lats are going to rip the jacket. Good standalone with weather in the 30s-40s. Would be a little too warm for me if active in temperature in 40s. If it’s super windy and cold outside doesn’t do a good job stand-alone. Great insulator in freezing temperatures when paired with a shell.

Great jacket, until the zipper broke.

I really enjoyed wearing this jacket for about 3 years during the colder climate. This season though the metal zipper slider broke in half! REI won't cover this and I submitted the warranty request to Arc'teryx and have never heard back from them. I've never had this happen before to any of my jackets, but definitely surprised it happened to such an expensive jacket. I think the quality could be better especially for gear used by active people.

Beautiful and highly functional in layering system

I love the everything about my Atom LT Hoody in 24K Black - the look, the feel, the warmth, the mobility, the light weight, the durability, the pockets (fit my Venta AR gloves one in each side pocket when I need my hands free), the elastic cuffs, the zipper and the hood design. I thought the Norvan SL Insulated Hoody would always be my favourite but the Atom LT is now king in my closet. I'm using the following layering system now: BASE=RHO LT Zip Neck MID=Delta MX Hoody OUTER=Atom LT Hoody or Norvan SL Insulated Hoody And this layer system has been fantastic down to -10C so far.

Nice jacket overall, could be harder wearing

Bought this jacket after wanting one for ages and reading a lot of positive reviews. After receiving I found myself really looking forward to wearing it for all occasions from watching my son play football to showery walks on holidays. Cooler weather, rain showers, not a problem, this jacket takes it all in it’s stride. Disappointed when after a 3km stroll wearing a pack the face fabric has visible signs of wear. Upsetting having only owned the jacket a few months. Still a great jacket overall, face fabric a bit delicate so don’t wear it with a rucksack or let anything catch the fabric.

Great garment but falling apart

I bought the Atom LT on 9th of March, have worn it 2 times, have not washed it yet and the left sleeve started coming undone - the stiches where the elastic waist band is. This is quite unfortunate as I have spent a lot of money on the Atom. I did really enjoy the fit, feel and warmth and I would recommend it to everyone, however it is really unpleasant to have it falling apart for such an expensive garment...Now I am afraid I will not be able to use it and I have scheduled a couple of cold weather expeditions where I wanted to use it... one of which is climbing Grossglockner I hope Arc'Teryx stands up to it's name and does something...

Love the Jacket, check the color...

So, I love this jacket! It's a perfect mid-layer or light outer-layer! Flexible in places that matter, durable for my daily activities, warm enough in winter, water-resistant enough that I don't feel bad for a quick dash in the rain. I even love the redesign features, having two pre-resdesign and two post-redesign. My only qualm is the color... the "dracaena" looks pretty much brown on every screen I've seen it. Brown/beige on REI, Backcountry, the Arc'teryx site. Came in the mail today: 100% army green, even in the sun. A little disappointed, really. Everyone I've shown it to and shown the product picture to seems to agree with me.

Abysmal quality

I bought my Atom LT on the outlet store last summer but didn't wear it until the fall. I used it for 30 - 40 hours of backpacking over a two month period, and sporadically on short hikes and while walking my dogs. I had bought a second jacket in the same class as the Atom from a budget brand and only used the Atom when the forecast was calling for high winds due to its amazing hood. Midway through the fall, I noticed the back side of the Atom's zipper garage had begun not only to pill, but appeared to be shriveling up and dissolving (see first picture). I've owned a number of Arc'teryx items and have come to love the brand based on the quality of it's clothing, so I was surprised and disappointed to see the fabric of one of it's signature items fail so quickly. Nevertheless, it didn't seem like a big deal to have a seamstress sew a thin piece of felt on to that area as well as the other parts of the jacket that rubbed against my chin which had also begun to show premature signs of wear. I decided to wait until next spring to have that work done and put the jacket into storage. It got unexpectedly warm and windy this week, so I took the jacket out of storage and noticed, for the first time and to my dismay, that there are two large holes in the insulation in the back of the jacket (see second picture). Shining a light on the jacket revealed that much of the remaining insulation in the back has begun to thin and separate. A detailed inspection also revealed insulation escaping through the stitching (see third picture) and pilling on the brim (see fourth picture). My budget insulated jacket, in contrast, still looks new, despite even more use than the Atom. My Gamma LT, which I always wore over the Atom and the budget jacket, and which I've never been delicate with also still looks new. I will never buy another insulated jacket from Arc'teryx and may turn towards other brands in the future for my high-end, outdoor performance clothing needs.

It is not valid for men

After a month of use, I have worn the jacket four counted times, and the interior is destroyed (see photos). I don't have a beard, but according to the manufacturer, the wear on the jacket is "normal with use." The jacket is very soft and pleasant to the touch, unfortunately, if my chin does that to it in four days, imagine what the vegetation in the forests does to it, which also have multiple tears. If it's a little windy you need to wear a third layer, so don't wear it "on its own" as they say on the web if you don't want to freeze. Due to its lightness I can recommend the women's jacket, to carry it in the backpack in summer, as long as it is used with a third layer.

My Favourite!

I pretty much live in this jacket. I wear it out and about, or even at home. We've had quite a cold winter so it's been my go to jacket for hiking. I'll often wear it during hikes or sometimes pack it as an extra layer. It's comfortable, breathable and lightweight. I love the colour too! Now we're in to the spring, I'm still wearing it quite a bit whilst the temperature is still rather low. An all round great jacket!

The face fabric of recent models is very fragile

Arcteryx Atom LT used to be my favorite jacket for years. It is lightweight, warm and versatile. I used it as mid-layer for hiking, biking and walking around town. However, I am disappointed by the latest models. Indeed, the face fabric starts to pill just after about a year. The pills are very easy to be seen at external chest region and around the internal chin region. See the attached photos. The jacket is manufactured 2018 according to the tag. I have another one manufactured in 2019, let's see what will happen after several months. I think I would not recommend the recent models.

Fabric puckering with logo

This is a flagship item and a classic. It performs well and gets a lot of use. However... I noticed that the 2020 updated version of this jacket has a lot of fabric pulling/puckering around the logo. It is very noticeable. This just seems incredibly cheap looking and low quality... not what I would expect from Arcteryx standards. I would image it has something to do with the thinness of the fabric or lack of backing? I hope this gets fixed in the future. Since this jacket comes with a hefty price tag I would expect a cleaner logo. I purchased a 2020 atom lt for my girlfriend as well and hers had the same issue. Photo attached.
