These Gore-tex bibs have a great feel and function. Fit is good (I am 5'9" and 160lb) and a medium is great. There is a decent amount of stretch, so movement feels great and the side zippers are great for a bathroom stop. Two pockets low (one with a zipper) and a small chest pocket (fits phone very nicely). Only think I would add would be leg vents. Other than that, these bibs are great.
Materials, stitching and zippers are very good. I am 6’1”/220 lbs with a 38 waist snd 34 inseam and bought the XL. Sizing states 40-42 waist, but I think the large would be tight. Thinking if you’re at the large end of a size order the size up. Though there is good thigh room and they are stretch material, so if you want them to fit tight your prob be good ordering your exact waist range. They’re a lined shell so expect to wear Long John’s underneath for cold winter sports. My only complaint is the lack of a cinching feature for the wide legs. But if you are skiing or boarding or using meaty boots they are cut well. But for XC ski boots it a bit too wide.
I really wanted to love these bibs and have them be my only pants for touring and resort riding. They keep you warm and dry, and are very comfortable. If you find these on a deal and need a reliable versatile snow pant, look no further. However, I have a few complaints that unfortunately will probably lead to me continuing my search for the perfect pant. Keep in mind I have high standards and am truly seeking my unicorn pant, and some of the imperfections with the pants may not be an issue for others. - Sizing: I've experienced this with all of the bibs I've tried - the Small is too small, the Medium just too baggy. The Medium worked ok for me (5'8" and 160 lbs) but was a bit baggier than I would like. - Pockets: Why are the pockets so far down on the pants? When I have anything in them it hits me in the kneecap. Move them up six inches to sit on the thigh and they would be perfect. - Venting: It's hard to vent upwards towards where your jacket covers, vent downwards instead to allow for easier unzipping and more venting ability. Overall a great snow pant for the value!
Let me just say that I don't give a lot of stuff 5* reviews. But these pants leave me no choice. They are incredibly well designed. Water rolls right off them, no leaking through the seams. They are light weight and breathe well, with just enough of a liner to help them breathe and not get clammy when you're exerting heavily. I did not have a chance to get them out in extremely cold weather, but they're not really insulated, so you'll have to layer. Pockets are well placed and the right size, reinforced in the areas where you need it... altogether a well designed and executed garment! They're not really insulated so you'll need to layer in cold weather, but there's plenty of room to do so. If you are using them for something other than skiing/boarding and/or mostly ski bluebird days, you MIGHT want to size down one, particularly if you are between sizes.
This was my first pair of bib-style snow pants and they did not disappoint! I am a fairly small person so my previous pair of snow pants were a pair of REI women's Talusphere pants. They worked great but the legs were slightly too short and were held up at the waist with on a single piece of shock cord. These pants, on the other hand, fit great and remained secure with the shoulder straps. I do suggest wearing these with ski, snowboarding, or snow boots as the cuff of the pants have an elastic cuff integrated in the inner lining but none on the outer shell. Otherwise I ran the risk of stepping on the pant legs. I hiked to Camp Muir at Mt. Rainier and glissaded down last weekend. The Gortex held up to the abuse, keeping me dry and protected from the snow and ice. An added plus: the pants have a front center zipper for going number 1 and zippers running down the hips on each side of the pants, allowing me to open up a flap in the back for...well, you guess. All while keeping my legs warm. Two inches of cord are tied to each zipper to allow for easy opening and closing with gloves, too. These will be my go-to pants for the foreseeable season.
These snow pants are awesome. I'm 5'9" and 185 with an athletic build. I purchased the large; it is perhaps a bit baggy, but it works out on the slopes. The front pockets are secure and in a perfect location to carry your phone, wallet, etc. The bib is really a high waist, which adds to the warmth without being restrictive or bulky. I haven't tried them in deep powder, but I have every confidences that these pants will keep me warm and dry. Highly recommend.
My previous ski bib experience was with Flylow Baker bibs and comparatively, these are lighter and more flexible. I'm a bigger guy and they have a much more generous fit and flex when bending, which is a lifesaver when putting on boots or sitting on the chair, The material is definitely not as rigid and waterproof (have yet to experience heavy rain or ice in these) but I think given general resort skiing conditions these will definitely stand up. There is an inner layer to the fabric which is comfortable against the skin and adds the tiniest bit of warmth versus if it were one layer of fabric. Pockets are great and easily accessible and I don't find that they hinder movement at all. Great bibs!
Everything is great except for the side snaps and it's a total deal breaker. Whenever I would bend over to strap in the side snaps open and the zippers work themselves down.
These are super comfy and super dry. The issue I have is that beyond the use on the ski hill one design issue makes them basically useless in snow over 6 to 8 inches. If you are not wearing ski/snow board boots the inner snow-liner at the cuff of the boot is useless. The elastic does not allow for adjustment when wearing smaller boots. It does not get tight enough or have ability to get tighter around smaller boots. Case in point we just got dumped on and I was out shoveling wearing work boots and with every step the snow liner came up filling my boots with snow. Its about a foot and half of fresh powder, but now I have wet socks and cold toes. I understand this is not what these pants are designed or intended for, I just want to give people a heads up if they are looking to use these as more of a utility snow pant and not just for going fast down the white stuff. The cuff keeps snow out if the boot is big enough to make a tight seal, which is why I say they are great for skiing and snowboarding. I will end by saying other than that I think they are designed well and comfy. Love the multiple zippers and the small front bib pocket.
Used this for 4 days of skiing in Park City under pretty cold, snowy conditions including lots of fresh powder. I suppose that the best thing to say about these bibs isn't that I didn't have to think about them at all. This reflects the fact that they fit well (I'm 5'10" and 180 lbs with 43 inch chest and 34 inch waist and wore a large), were nice and waterproof and breathed well. The powder cuff kept snow out of my boots. The pockets were convenient and easy to access. I suppose it would be nice to have loops for a belt if you wanted one. The suspenders are integrated into the bib so they aren't replaceable. Time will tell about what to do if the elasticity goes out over time as you can't replace the suspenders.
