Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Overall, I like my new Powderbound jacket. I haven't used it yet skiing, but this morning it was in the 40's and I only had a t-shirt on and was toasty warm for my pics. I can see only wearing one layer under this coat because it has a quilted built in layer, so it's not just a shell like my other coats. With that said, it's surprisingly lightweight which I like. The hood also easily accommodates my helmet for those blustery or pow days. It has a wrist pocket, which I think I'll put my passes in for easier scanning at the lifts. It has all the other stuff you'd expect, like vents under the arms, and pull cords around the hood and waist to keep the snow out. For me, the length is good, long enough that I have some coat under me when I'm sitting on first chair with ice under me :-), but not so long it restricts my movement. As you can see in the pics, the coat isn't focused on making you look like the most stylish guy on the mountain, but that's OK for me!
REI Co-op Powderbound Insulated Jacket is my latest and the most valuable addition to my winter wardrobe. I love everything about this jacket: breathable not very stiff fabric with protection against the elements, overall design of the jacket with extra layering and freedom of movement in mind, easy to use closures and adjustments, good amount of secured pockets, well sized hood to use with the helmet or the hat, well shaped collar with soft fabric for the chin, pit zips, and my favorite feature, lightness of this jacket with the right amount of insulation. I can't hardly wait to take my new jacket for a spin on the snowy slopes!
Truly great value for $199, I know you can easily spend 4X this amount, but you won’t find as versatile a last layer as this - three days in Park city, 12-30 degree white outs, granted it is dry UT powder, but this jacket is perfect with one or 2 base layers, as long as it does not rain I feel like it would take all day to wet out? Spring skiing will be perfect with a T shirt underneath! Only thing I wish was different was the chest pocket on the outside was a little more waterproof for iPhone. I am 6’ 5” and wear the XL, it’s a little bulky but sleeves are perfect.
I purchased this jacket for all purpose use, to include skiing, hiking, snow plowing and everyday wear. My small town is ranked 4th in the US for least amount of sunshine. Cold, wet conditions are common place and this jacket works well and looks great. I’ve been able to wear the jacket with just a thermal shirt in sub 30 degree temps to ski, shovel and plow snow and hike. Very adequate warmth, relatively light weight, with ample mobility. After adding a sweater, this jacket functioned well in low 20 degree temps.
This was the first jacket I ordered from the REI Coop brand, so I was taking a bit of a risk, but I am very satisfied with it. The jacket is well-made and has plenty of thoughtful touches. Thick elastic around the waist keeps cold air out. The exterior is sturdy and the inside is very soft. I've gotten compliments on how nice it looks (I got the black one). Size-wise, it is a little bit on the big side, but I think that's good so you can wear a layer under it without it feeling tight. I am 5-11, 175lb, and bought a medium. Insulation is in that middle range, more than a shell but still lightweight enough to be comfortable for a walk in the neighborhood. It is perfect for layering. Also, the style of the jacket is great and it looks much nicer than what it cost.
I purchased this jacket in late February 2021 because I was going to NYC for the weekend and the weather was supposed to be nasty. I was looking for something light weight, warm, and waterproof. I wasn't disappointed. I wore a long-sleeved t-shirt and short-sleeved t-shirt underneath the jacket the entire time and I was warm and dry while walking around China Town in the rain. Since then I mostly use this jacket every day when I go to work when I know it's going to be cold and when I sit outside in the cold while smoking a cigar.
I had a favorite jacket to wear while walking our dogs on RV trips in variable weather that finally needed to be retired. The REI Powderbound Insulated Jacket fit the bill for those early morning late night walks. Would work well in windy cool beach nights and also when snowing or rain, maybe 50 degrees to as low as 25 degrees. I might even use it while skiing this winter. The M size is a generous size M and will allow some layering. I generally wear a M and sometimes a L depending on sizing. I think I’m going to like this jacket!
Overall a great jacket. Has all the features you'd expect from a snow sports-oriented jacket. The quality construction of the jacket is excellent, which is typical of REI branded products. The jacket is basic from a style/look standpoint though. Definitely not eye-catching by any means. However, a great jacket that gets the job done. I like the wider velcro cuffs, which make it easier to adjust with a gloved hand. The jacket has lots of room for layering up on colder days. For me personally, the jacket runs a bit too big (even with layers underneath). The sizing is more along the lines of a relaxed fit that is typical of freeride/snowboard/free skier sizing which I like, however still just a tad too big for my liking. The jacket is warm without additional layers, which is great for moderate temp days on the mountain. With additional layers underneath, you'll be nice and warm on the colder days.
Great functional ski jacket. The REI Powderbound is waterproof/windproof, well insulated and kept me warm in 25-degree weather with only a thin base layer. The jacket has a helmet-friendly hood that easily fits over your helmet. It sports a high collar and roomy enough – not too restrictive. The jacket has just enough pockets, including a pass holder on the wrist, chest pocket, an inside pocket as well as a goggle pocket. There are also zip vents on the arm pits. The jacket is lightweight and stores easily.
This is a great jacket for the weekend warrior. It does have great features such as the zippered pocket near the end of the sleeve. Perfect for a phone or other small items. The jacket does have plenty of other pockets. The insulation is enough for any cold weather I might encounter in the local area. There is room in the jacket if I needed to layer my clothing. I would say the jacket does run large. I'm 5'9 and about 170lbs. and the jacket is pretty loose on me. It's an all around great jacket!
