Upgraded to Cygolite Hypershot 350!
I just purchased two Cygolite Hypershot 350 taillights for our bikes. They replace a Cygolite LS50 and a Fenix BC05R. Granted, the 350 costs more than the LS50 and BC05R, but the difference in light output more than makes up for it. My only complaint is the USB charger cover. The very first time I charged this guy, the tab pulled out slightly when I removed the charging cable. There is no way to push the tab back in to the body of the light and now the tab will not stay closed. It looks like the rubber tab is squeezed between the housing when it is assembled. So naturally, the tab wants to squeeze out of the housing. I'm not sure if there is a way to fix the USB cover. This is the one of brightest bike taillights that I've owned, and I really want it to work out.
Blinding. Because that’s how it should be.
I’ve been cycling my entire life. I’ve bought and used literally dozens of taillights over the years. This 350 has truly surpassed my expectations in terms of brightness, functionality, modes, and battery life. It is THE brightest taillight money can buy. WAY brighter than the Garmin radar and other higher dollar taillights on the market. I’ve had motorists pull up next to me at stoplights telling me they saw it for miles and believed I was an emergency vehicle at distance. Needless to say I am thinking about rigging up a second one on my Specialized CREO. The only negative is that when riding at nighttime you will blind motorists. But, that’s how it should be since they fail to put down their phone.
Worked great as a primary rear light, still great
Having too many close calls with cars buzzing me, I seeked out the brightest taillight. This was my goto light before getting the Varia Rear Radar with light. Nowadays I use both, with this Hypershot 350 mounted on the seat stay. It is ridiculously bright, a driver pulled next to me and requested that I change out of the blink mode. I told him "thanks for noticing me, I'll think about it!". I still mount this on long rides as a backup to my Varia Radar light, but depending on the roads I encounter, will still have both active. As reported by other reviewers the battery cover doesn't seal anymore, just hangs there. Charge port still 100% effective.
lovED this
This light was great. Super bright and definitely noticed cars giving me more space when passing. Unfortunately I was on a ride yesterday and despite its sturdy design I hit something that knocked it off it’s clip piece that holds it to the clip piece attached to the bike. I was gonna try and contact REI or the company as I was certain it was less than a year since I got it but I just checked online and the purchase was July 14, 2022. Less than a week! Oh well. If you get it just be careful with bumps I suppose and check it for any loose connections.
Blindingly good light.
I have several taillights for my bike. Always have a backup, especially for night riding. I bought the light with 150 lumens for a friend and ended up riding half a block behind him(daylight) or one block behind(night ride) because the 150 is that bright. Since I am always at the tail end of the group, what better to use than the 350! Drivers blinded by the output on this light beacon. As one video reviewer mentioned, it can be seen from Tatooine(Star Wars). Great for warding off the covid-19 drivers. Would definitely recommend.
Nice light that doesn't live up to battery claims
I have yet to get more than a few hours out of any setting. (The packaging doesn't specify what setting should supposedly last 200 hours and there is no manual). Yesterday on a 13 hour ride through the White Mountains under heavy rain, I had this light give out after only a few hours. I spent the final 1.5 hours in total darkness going down Crawford Notch using my phone flashlight when my front light also gave out. I don't know if it was the rain or the batteries failing. Either way, I'm not happy with the product. It literally put me in life-threatening conditions last night.
Makes You More Visible To Traffic
This is the latest evolution of tail lights for bicycles. There have been many lights in this process ranging in price. Some over $200. Some as cheap as $20. Some were bulky. Some were small. The Hypershot is the best bang for your buck. What do I mean by bang? Intense, Fiery, raging retina burning intensity! At a reasonable price. Do not look directly into the lens. It's that bright. No the battery doesn't last as long between charges but in my opinion it's a fair trade-off. Definitely a great addition to your safety arsenal. I would recommend.
Bright Light
This light is easy to use, charge and battery life is good. It is difficult to tell how effective the light emitted is, because it is always behind me! However, I have been stopped by motorists (who are also bike riders!) several times to ask me where I bought my light from - b/c it was nice and bright. That's a good recommendation - isn't it?!
Solid, dependable, highly visible light
I ride early in the morning and needed a light with intensity, good battery life, multiple flashing options. This is a solid built, dependable, easy to mount and remove for charging. I have found that I can run 3-4 hours using an intermittent flash pattern. The bracket is strong and maintains a good grip on the light so that it won't bounce off on bumpy trail conditions. Visibility is really good from a long distance for cars approaching from behind. This has helped me feel safer on road trips.
others are jealous
I ride with various groups occasionally. Almost every ride someone asks me where I bought my light. Only bad thing is they make me ride in the back so motorists will see us.
