perfect for short rides
This is a very sleek waist pack that really hugs your body. Perfect for a very short ride when you just want to bring a couple tools, CO2 inflator and your phone. If you have a water bottle cage on your bike, you can use the bottle pocket for stuffing in a windbreaker, tube, or something. Pretty small for a mtn bike tube, so combines well with a small seat bag for your tube. Docked a point because there doesn't seem to be a way to carry a mini pump. Additional dividers in the main pockets keep stuff from sliding around and I like that the main pocket material has some stretch. Some padding for your back which works well, but their attempt at ventilation is a fail so it runs a bit warm. I have NO hips and waist packs are normally impossible to keep in place, but this one manages to stay in place pretty well and doesn't cantilever out.
Simple and form fitting
I've ordered a second pack for my wife so we can both be hands free while hiking. I purchased this fanny pack over a year ago and it has performed better than I expected. It's super comfortable and holds my essentials, so they aren't bouncing around in my pockets as I hike. The water bottle holder comfortably holds either a half liter Nalgeen up to a 24 oz single wall Kleen Kanteen. I've used a double wall 20oz water bottle filled with ice water but the fanny pack kinda dragged down, so that was a bit hard to handle for the pack. Final thoughts: If you're a minimalist with the stuff you take, you're going to love this pack. If you need bulky items or more than would fit in jeans pockets plus a water bottle, you should look elsewhere.
Best Hip-Pack I've used
I have used a few other styles of hip-packs over the years and was tired of straps digging into my stomach, straps loosening mid-ride, and bottles on the sides causing uneven weight distribution and pulling. This pack solved all of those issues for me, the straps are wide and the pack wraps around your waist giving a very secure and comfortable hold, and they have not loosened mid-ride. The middle bottle-hold is very secure and performs great with or without a bottle, is easy to use with gloves on, and can even hold a spare-layer. The pockets are big enough for most ride essentials including most mini-pumps, and the padded internal pockets are great for protecting phones or gps units and organizing all of your tools and snacks. It cleans off well and has survived a few crashes with no damage. My favorite part is how well this pack performs with just a few items, or stuffed and with a 1L bottle, due to the great design. Highly recommend this pack.
Don't know it is there.
I have used this twice so far and like it more than I thought I would. This is a great minimalist hip pack. As other have noted, the upright water bottle position makes it awkward to access the bottle while peddling. But I rarely drink while peddling anyway, even with hydration packs...so no big deal. I can fit a small first aid kit, spare tube, tools, and snacks along with my keys and phone. It is slim, and hold the bottle and gear close to the body, even on rough, technical terrain.
Poor design.
Very disappointed. I will be retuning the pack. Uncomfortable, especially with a full water bottle in the pack. Unless you have a very small smart phone there’s no way an average size smart phone will fit in the pocket.
Comfortable & Functional
I was previously using a 1L pack that had no room for a water bottle, which worked for rides under 90 minutes or so. I wanted something that could carry a bottle, so I could do 2-3 hour rides with two bottles (one in pack, one on frame). This fits everything I need: tube in left pocket, multi-tool, tire lever, tire plug, mini pump, wallet/keys, and a snack in the right. The belt is easy to adjust, it sits comfortably on your hips, and doesn't move a bit while riding, even with a full bottle. If you don't have a bottle and have a very packable jacket/vest, it will fit in the bottle holder. I am also often able to access what I need without taking the pack off or rotating it, which is nice. My only quibble is that the clip for a blinky is the Bontrager logo on the left side, which is pretty off-center. Definitely closer to where cars would be, but kind of odd -- something to keep in mind if you ride to the trail where you are.
Not for carrying a mini pump
The rear is divided into 3 sections and neither side pocket will hold even a small mini pump so one needs to rely 100% on CO2 cartridges if there is a flat.
Great pack
Great pack for shorter mountain bike rides. It fits a multi tool, CO2 cartridge, phone and keys. I don’t even notice I have it on most of the time. Worth every cent.
Well made, perfect for after-work ride
Purchased for my son-in-law to use for after-work rides. Really nicely made.
