These shoes fit perfectly. I get plenty of traction from them on pretty much any terrain. At least 100 miles in and zero complaints
The Keen Explore Vent hiking shoe appears to be well made, but they run quite small. I ordered an 8.5 and a Size 9, thinking one of the two would be a perfect fit. Having a foot well matched to Keens, I expected the 8.5 to be the best fit, with plenty of toe room. Much to my surprise neither shoe fit uncomfortably. The 8.5 was both too short and too narrow. The length of the size 9 was fine, but the toe box was much too narrow, which is unusual for Keens. In addition, I found the footbed much too firm. As they say, "If the shoe fits, wear it." Unfortunately, for me, it didn't.
Comfortable & nice looking. My only complaint is that the black color scuffs off the toe and reveals bright white beneath.
Had this shoe for just two months and it already has a huge hole on the side of the upper.
I'm an ER Registered Nurse and these are my go-to work shoes of choice. They are sturdy and provide comfort all through my 12-hour shifts. Highly recommend.
I was looking forward to these shoes for work. Attractive style but the toe box is tight and shallow, my big toe rubs the top as I walk. I would recommend size up 1/2. Sorry to return them.
This shoe is great. I just purchased my second pair after wearing the first pair out with almost constant use. They took plenty of miles, and didn't let me down. For whatever reason, the sole is just that much stiffer than other hikers of similar quality and cost, giving more support and the ability to wear them for many hours without causing that nagging, "get these off" feeling. If you have any foot issues, these shoes are provide me better support and longer pain-free walking than almost any other shoe I have.
Took my first real hike in these since purchasing in December. Handle well in mud and rocks with good traction. No slipping and I never felt any sweating or moisture in the shoe. Had these on for over 8 hrs and no complaints from my feet. I am size 10 and they do fit tight, but do not crush my foot. I have worn these on small hikes and walks with no real issues. Remember, these are breathable shoes and not really made for walking in 4 inches of snow. You will feel the cold weather in these shoes, so I am looking forward to the Ohio weather warming up to see how well they work as it gets hotter. Overall I really like how comfortable this shoe is and the traction that the shoe has in all conditions.
I've hardly owned these long enough to give a truly legitimate review. My first impression is that I like the look of the shoe. They fit well and are comfortable. They're a little difficult to get on because the opening is quite narrow, but once they're on they feel good. I'm a little confused about REI's labeling though. The box from Keen calls these "Climbing" shoes, not hiking shoes and that would explain the lack of any significant cushioning from the insole. The few times I've worn them they've been comfortable enough to walk around in, but I don't think they'd be of much use for any kind of lengthy hike. They definitely seem more suitable for light climbing.
Great fit for me (similar to my Targhee IIs). Well made. Sturdy support. Wonderful heel-to-toe action when walking.
