Good for my snowboarding boots
They work well on my K2 myasis snowboard boots but i recently climbed a small glacier on Mount Ritter and they did not work well with my Selewa Mt trainer mids. The back tab would keep slipping forward on my boot which allowed both plates to slide forward which could cause some serious trouble, luckily I got through with no bad mishaps but i wouldn't trust them again.
Fit on Softboots
I purchased those to use with my Vans Infuse (size 11) softboots, and can confirm they fit well. So far I have used them on one occasion last season, booting up an iced gully, and I can say they feel firm and stable on the boot. I think as good as it gets with softboots, I didn’t experience any side slipping or other problems.
Good choice for non technical boots.
In the winter months when the trails in the mountains are beautifully covered by snow and ice, there are still some people that like myself enjoying a good hike. Snow and ice turn moderate to hard hikes into more tactical climbs to the summits. All though on occasions I have accomplished such a hike with plain winter boots and in some using mycrospikes. I recommend utilizing real winter tractions systems. Microspikes are ok for easy to moderate hike but for something hard and technical there is nothing better than crampons. These universal crampons have worked out well and I have paired them with a few types of boots. Most recently I use the Keen Targhee winter boot. The crampons come with flexible link bars so most winter hiking boots will work out well. They are comfortable and secure for good hikes. However, you can notice some weakness in real tactical climbs. But for those days I use full on mountaineering boots with auto or semi auto crampons. For most winter and hikers looking for stable and dependable snow traction look no further. These are the crampons for you. If i was grading this crampon on the technical side it would be a 3 to 4 start. However, I'm grading it on the capability of being functionable with regular winter hiking boots where more technical crampons will not work.
Buckle doesn’t keep strap tight
These were extremely frustrating to wear in total spent over an hour adjusting, re adjusting and modifying trying to keep them from coming loose. Detracted from my rainier summit experience.
doesn't work for tech ski boots
the "tong" on the back that leans on the sole back end is too small, and thus the crampon doesn't hold well on many shoes (including my ski-mountaineering boot. Other brands crampons have much more beefy support on the back & front
