I bought my first raincoat of TM The North Face in 2010. It perfectly protects from rain and wind. Look stylish. The only disadvantage is a fragile inner coating that is cracked off and leaves traces of clothing. The rest is all super! So I decided to buy the same but updated raincoat again. This is my favorite trademark.
I purchased two North Face Venture Rain Jackets in June 2015. One for myself, the other one for my wife. Mine is in the colour of NF Black/TNF Black/Monster Blue. By the time of writing this review (Nov 2015), I have worn it less than 15 times. The inside blue inner lining around the collar looks already peeled off. The white material under the blue paint/coating can be seen at various spots. Now the jacket looks ugly if hood is not put on. Is this normal wearing, or should I send it to North Face for repairing or replacing? My wife's TNF Black/Glo Pink colour Venture looks still perfect though...
Really loved this jacked and it was met all expectations, but I haven't even had the jacket for a month yet and it was I think my third time using the hood for wet weather and the hood bungee for the back came out of the hood. You can see that there are only two tiny treads that hold this in. Tried to run the bungee back in but it just won't go. I could maybe see this happening after a lot of use, but not before using it less than half a dozen times
I purchased this as a ski, packable hiking and ice climbing outer layer. I am tall (ordered the tall size), and needed some extra room for winter layering, and to cover my wrists when reaching, as well as to cover my butt for some warmth. This has done it all. It is really lightweight, ripstop, looks sharp with TNF logo, Pit zips work and don't jam, front zipper is adequate with a large slider, and the side zippered pockets are deep. I have full movement in every direction. Hood is generous enough to go over a helmet. My only desire would be to add a chest pocket along the zipper flap...that would be perfect. However, for the price and current features, still have to give it a 5.
The website photo and the actual product are two completely opposite things. The website shows a solid yellow jacket, but it arrived in a two-toned mix of odd yellows. This clearly isn't represented on the websites photos. Disappointed.
These jackets are somewhat windproof but not waterproof as described on the web page. The women ones are a little thicker and material seems to be waterproof. Both are venture 2 styles, but does not meet the purposes as given.
This is my 3rd DryVent or HyVent rain jacket from TNF. I guess I haven't learned my lesson. The material felt different, so I thought they had finally figured it out...I was wrong. I golfed with this in a light rain, and within 2 holes, my arms were soaked. It was light enough to play in, and was not a downpour. You can see the beading stop and it start to penetrate. I'm not sure how they can advertise these jackets as waterproof, but they are not. They offered to repair the jacket, but it is not broken, this is just the design. Breathability really doesn't matter if you are getting wet. The only truly waterproof jacket is one with Gor-Tex.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i went to travel to nyc and when i was there everyday was raining so i use this jacket and it was my salvation, this jacket in this colors its really easy to match with every outfit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The multiple modular options make this jacket very versatile. I am able to wear it outside in the FL summer by opening the vents and in mild settings by closing
being 6'4" (1.93M), 215lbs (97.5KG) with very long arms and a bulky chest/shoulders fit is hard to pin down. Often I'm buying an XL size to get enough length in the arms and enough room to move in the shoulders. After trying the regular length XL at a NF store I was disappointed: it fit across the shoulders, but the sleeves just weren't long enough, and it billowed out at the bottom like a tent. I tried the reg L, which fit great across the shoulders but too short in the sleeves and body. BAM long L was the perfect fit. I wear this for mountain biking, windy days hiking, walking the dogs, spring rain etc etc. it's been absolutely perfect.
