Sizing Notes

For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

Pretty good!

I haven’t bought a pair of hiking boots in years but want a decent pair for tromping around in the snow/ice and for alpine climbing. I ordered several pairs of boots to try on to suit these needs, and these made the top 2! Great fit for my low volume feet. True to size. However they felt a little tighter on top of my toes and a little loose in the heal compared to the boots I ultimately kept. I went the Salewa Ravens for my low volume feet and skinny heal. For the first time ever, I didn’t get blisters with the Ravens and strategically placed glacier pads! Sorry for not plugging a shoe carried by REI here but want to share info for folks with similar foot struggles.

Great boots. BEWARE SIZING!

This boot seems great, like an approach show in boot form. Not much padding and very grippy. The toe box is quite narrow though. But beware the sizing. I am a 9.5 so ordered a 42. Online conversion chart said this was a 10.5-11 depending on the source. However, in la sportiva land a 42 is actually a 10 US! It's tiny for a 42. And there doesn't seem to be any bigger options available. Basically if your are over a 9 US you can't really own this boot. It's very disappointing.

Great out of the box!

I bought these last minute in Jackson Hole for a trip up Gannett Peak in the Wind Rivers last summer, after my previous mountaineering boots literally disintegrated 3 miles up the trail. They were comfortable right out of the box. My feet are on the narrower side but I like a roomy toe box and didn't find these too tight. I normally wear a women's 8.5 but sized up to a 9/40.5 in these. I hiked 50 miles round trip in three days with a 40 pound pack in these, and also crossed two glaciers and ice climbed up to the summit. A pair of Grivel semi-auto binding crampons worked great with these boots. I had zero blisters or other foot issues with no break-in period at all. They were stiff enough for climbing, supportive enough to make a carrying a heavy pack doable, but flexible enough for fast hiking. Would buy them again.

Versatile but…

Used these for guiding in British columbia. They were great for what I needed them for going from a rain forest environment to alpine. They only gave me a blister once after walking on a fairly flat trail for several hours. They did not however have any sense of being waterproof, my feet were absolutely soaked anytime I was hiking in snow even after waterproofing them . They are also fairly narrow and squeezed my forefoot and toes especially when they had to be tightened for going downhill. I also sized up to a 9.5 from an 8.5. I would not recccomend these to anyone with a wider or slightly wider foot. I would also not recommend them for any kind of wet climate. If you’re hiking steep terrain in a dry climate and have a narrow foot abs wanna spend insane amounts of money on a sturdy boot this is the boot for you. Finally, I will be trying to return them or warranty as the toe cap bent in on itself and the shoe is unusable without causing my toenail to turn black. This after one summer of guiding.

I could be severely injured if not dead !

The hook it has and the yellow strip on the shoe both together got me , I fell down pretty badly and I was lucky that only one of my finger broke and left me with few bruises! The yellow strip from the right one, got stuck inside the hook on the left one and I couldn't walk . my both feet was locked to each other ; It was hiking downhill on Harpers Ferry, MD and walking on a normal speed. I was lucky it didn't happen on my hikes in west ; it could have killed me!!

I used these on Rainier and Baker and they were great! They didn't cause any pain and held up in the snow for long summit push days.

So far I love it!

Great backpacking boots and beginner mountaineering boots. Used these to climb Helens and had a great time kicking steps. I feel like they’re overkill for hiking however I have used them hiking in the hot sunny days and was fine. They take some breaking in but I love that I can use them for multiple adventures.
