Pretty but see-through and large
I ordered the Patagonia Capilene Cool Train shirt in Evening Mauve in a Large. The color is pretty, kind of a dusky mauve that would look good on a lot of skin tones. But the shirt is see through enough to show my nude bra and was very baggy in the back. I’m 5’6”, 37” bust, 30” waist, 45” hip and I think a medium would have fit better, maybe even a small but I don’t think it would fit my hips at that point. The sleeves were a great long length.
Doesn't stink, wicks well
Good top, fits well for the most part, does what it's supposed to do. I would prefer it a little shorter in the torso - it's so long it gets "caught" on my butt, but I'm short-waisted. I'm impressed with the anti-stink function. Capiline is notorious for amplifying any sweat smell, but this does not. For reference, I am 5'6", 150 and got a large (NOT a fan of anything tight around arms/shoulders)
Average fit, fabric feels a bit strange
I really want to like this shirt and I think I might keep it to see if it fits better with a little more weight loss, but my initial thoughts are meh. Definitely runs small, and it was very snug in the shoulders/upper arms for me, but I do have broader shoulders than the average woman. Bust is always snug for me so that's not surprising. The fabric is very light, like, nearly transparent. Easily could make out the pattern on my bra. If you're expecting something soft with easy give/stretch then this is not that; dry, the fabric has a bit of a smooth slippery texture that's not exactly soft and supple. It's not all bad; the deep scoop is great, the length is great, even for a long torso like mine, and the sleeves are plenty long for longer arms. I think it could be a winner if you're willing/able to size up and have more average proportions.
Great top-nice material & good fit
I’m petite & this top is not a perfect fit, but it looks nice. There is a little bit of extra material at the armpit but there’s no bunching, so that’s great! Sleeves aren’t too long. The top is long enough that I’d feel comfortable wearing with leggings (again, I’m petite so it covers my bum). The material is lighter than I expected, but it’s super comfy & nice alone or as a light base layer. Very happy with the purchase.
The perfect Weight for any activity
I first discovered Patagonia Capaline base layers when I was taking an Outward Bound Wilderness trip in Leadville, CO, August 2009. I wore a SS and layered with a half zip long sleeve, they worked perfect alone and together. I wore them every day for 7 days in the wilderness and it never got smelly even when climbing a 14er. They became my favorite everything layers. The fabric has a soft light hand, dries quickly, is uber comfy and looks great. I’m 5’10, athletic build, 34DDD. I ordered a medium and a large. The medium fits too but the large is roomier for me at his time. I’ve gained 20 lbs since January from a medication. I felt like I just wanted a little more room because Im self conscious. I’ve since stopped the medicine and expect to lose most of the weight. I’ve worn it twice in 2 days and it is already my grab and go layer for before/after the gym, on a early morning hike, or around town. I love it and already had compliments from my friends. I wish it came in black, winter white, and red to wear under a flannel shirt!
Beautiful color
Beautiful color and soft fabric. However bottom hemline is odd and fabric is too see through. Will stick to capilene daily fabric/cut.
Great hiking shirt!
I have had 2 of these shirts in blue for quite a while, so thought I'd add another in a different color. Lightweight, comfortable, practical, with sun protection and appealing design (more open feminine neckline than the crew neck and a shirt-tail hem that looks good tucked in or left out).
Comfort and quick dry!
LOVED to death. This is my second iteration of the Patagonia Capilene Cool - the first was a tshirt that made it through three years of backpacking use (well, 2 1/2) before my pack wore an enormous hole in the fabric. It is so light, so quick drying, so incredibly comfortable - wish I could wear it every day. Really wish it lasted a little longer, but I did of course buy a replacement so still great enough to re-purchase.
Great fit and fabric!
I'm 5'6", 140 lbs., 36C and the Medium fits perfectly. Not tight in the arms or tummy, great length and cut. The fabric is light weight and I can confirm it dries quickly after getting drenched on the river! Great for sun and skin protection.
Not Quite right for Me
I liked everything about this shirt except that it was so long that it didn't look right, so I returned it.
