Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Versatile & Comfortable
These shirts work well everywhere. They are soft, warm but not hot, tough, and flexible. I have a whole bunch and I routinely wear them to bed, yoga, runs, hike, the gym, and keep a couple crispy to wear around the town. Very happy these have returned. Slightly looser fit around the arms, but still tot to the chest. Not a mock collar, but sits a little higher on the neck. Sleeves have nice cuffs that grasp the wrist and prevent the sleeves from overtaking the hands. These are easily my favorite long sleeves from a fit, use-case, and material perspective.
Totally satisfied.
Took three of these of varying colors on a backpacking trip to Banff. My only regret is not bringing more. They are incredibly soft and light. I was originally attracted to their softness and simplicity and was sold by their price. If you're looking for a simple summer hiking shirt, look no further. If you're looking for a casual long-sleeve shirt, this will also do. Probably not thick enough to use as a base-layer for winter activities unless sweat-wicking is a priority.
Super soft and comfy but not smell proof
I bought this shirt in hopes it would be a less expensive alternative to wools anti stink properties. To start, the shirt itself is super comfortable, one of the softest synthetic shirts I own. However, while after hiking and sweating in it all day on the trail it does retain some odor. It's definitely less than if I just wore a polyester workout shirt, but if you're looking for odorless from the antimicrobial coating in the thread you will be a little disappointed. Overall, the colors are nice, it's amazingly comfortable, and limits odor to some extent so for the price on sale under $30 I'm happy.
awesome, comfortable hiking shirt
I wore this daily for 44 days straight 20+ miles daily on the Shikoku Henro 88 and it was one of my favorite items. SUPER comfortable, quick drying (and looks good). Very light weight Washed (mostly) daily and reliably died in the morning after air drying. Very light weight- I layered with a mid-weight and mostly wore on its own once I had warm up a bit. When I was not moving, I definitely wanted to add my mid layer or puffy. Great at wicking away sweat. I’m planning to buy a couple more (the colors are nice- I went with the dusty green). My only negative was it Sun-faded a noticeable bit highlighted by the non-faded parts my pack was covering. I’m sticking with my 5 star rating, though, because I really loved it.
Great Lightweight Sun Protective Shirt
I am a female who now owns three of these shirts that I wear very often because I work outdoors (farming) I had to buy a men's small (even though it's still big on me and the sleeves could be hemmed by about 5 inches) because REI does NOT sell a crew neck UPF lightweight shirt like this for women. I like the full crew neck protection and don't understand why female versions are always V-necks. I've worn this shirt for farming, yard work, hiking, biking, beach days, outdoor music fests, etc.
PLEASE bring back the old version
I bought two of these new ones, and they are great! But PLEASE bring back the old ones... in t-shirt too. I’ve never written a bad review before but I’m am because of how great the old ones were. Just trying to give helpful product feedback. They were more durable, comfortable, fit better, great double seem stitching down the arms, the wrists didn’t stretch out. The two old ones are the best shirts I own, period. Return the old ones, and I’ll buy every color! Thanks!
fantastic backpacking base layer
Gave this shirt a thorough test run with 5 days of backpacking in fall, mountain conditions, and it's easily one of my favorite cool weather backpacking shirts already. -The seams are minimal, flat, and positioned to not chafe under backpack straps -The fabric is very comfortable and breathes well, without the slick feeling of many synthetics -The whole shirt fits nicely, with no restriction of range of movement or bunching up -The anti-odor finish stood up well to my usual 3+ days in the back country man funk
sizing is small
Compared to the _old_ Sahara T's, these are at least a size smaller. I also prefer solid colors to the mottled look.
Questionable Quality and Inconsistent Brand
I've been a long-time customer of REI, having previously bought and enjoyed their Sahara long-sleeve T-shirts. I own two of these shirts in different colors - gray and green, and their quality had made me a loyal customer. However, I recently ordered the same T-shirt in white, and I'm sad to report that the experience was far from satisfying. REI claims the composition of the shirt is 92% polyester and 8% spandex, but my recent purchase has called this into question. On wearing the white Sahara shirt, I was immediately struck by how it felt different - thinner, scratchier, and less comfortable than the previous versions I owned. The difference in quality was so stark that it felt more like a cheap imitation rather than the original quality I was accustomed to from REI. What disappoints me more is the persistent high price tag attached to this decline in quality. This shirt costs $40 plus shipping, a price I was more than willing to pay for the quality I've previously experienced. But in this instance, it felt as if I could have purchased a similar shirt from a discount online marketplace for a fraction of the price. My advice to potential buyers is to steer clear of the white Sahara T-shirt. While the gray and green versions I own are still of good quality, I fear this might not be the case anymore given my recent experience. REI, as a well-known and trusted brand, I find this inconsistency in your clothing line very disappointing. It's a shame to see the quality of your products being compromised, and it casts a shadow on your brand reputation. I hope you address this issue seriously, as you risk losing loyal customers like myself due to this glaring discrepancy in quality.
I expected it to be better for hot weather
This does not breathe as well as other lightweight synthetic shirts. It's great for cool/ slightly warm weather. This is not a good shirt for high exertion hot weather. I'll definitely keep it as a base layer for the winter and use it in the shoulder seasons. I like the fit and would wear this around town
