Not Waterproof

My girlfriend is in Iceland right now. She shopped at REI and asked for a waterproof jacket. This is what they selected. As it turns out in extreme weather you will get wet. She is soaked every day. I feel bad for her. Its raining hard and windy. It might be a good jacket otherwise and for mild rain or mist. But if you are taking a serious hike or trip and need to stay dry I would not recomend this jacket.

Comfortable for a shell and stayed dry hiking!

In Fall 2019, a group of eight Mountain Hardwear Employees journeyed to Mt. Everest basecamp. This product testimonial is based on three weeks of gear testing in the terrain of the Khumbu Valley. On our way back from basecamp we crammed it all into a 3 day trek back! On day 1 & 2 we hiked 26 or so miles in the rain. This shell held up the entire time! We stayed dried and the only moisture we had was from our sweat- that is why we chose GoreTex for testing on this trek to see how it held up. The hood cinched well and worked perfect with a hat on. I’d recommend this if you’re going to be in heavy rain and need to stay dry. It also layers well!

Tested this jacket out on a miserable day on South Sister with freezing rain and high winds. So impressed with how this jacket withstood the elements! Highly recommend

Fully waterproof

Runs small. I usually wear a L or an XL. I bought a L in this and could not zip it up. Had to return. I am 5'6 175lbs. You would think it would be cut a slight bit large considering you would most likely be wearing an underlayer or jacket underneath. It seems very high quality and fully waterproof. It is thin and it is just a waterproof shell so if you are looking for insulation this is not your jacket.

Holds up

Took this out into the sierras through some summer thunderstorms and it did fantastic. Love that it's light weight and I can cram in my bag. It was breathable but also durable.. I would prefer venting in the arm pits as an option as summer rains get hot but overall a standup item that's been good to me. I also have a size M which is a bit bigger in case I need to put it over my puff/many layers

Great Coat

Bought this for my wife. She loves it! As we live in Washington, rain is pretty common. She wears this coat all around town, when we go for hikes or walks. The coat keeps her warm, dry and comfortable. Bought this to replace a different coat and we will continue to buy this coat as long as they make it. In fact, bought the male version for my two boys. Wonderful coat, love the feel and fit.

Leaked the first walk in light drizzle

This is without a doubt the most useless goretex product ever made. I cannot believe the original price and even at $100 it is a total waste of money unless you want a wind jacket

great rain jacket

i love this jacket. definitely keeps you dry. would definitely buy this jacket but maybe in another color. my only complaint is that i LOVE the color "pristine" but this color combination has a darker brown interior lining. When the jacket is wet some of that color shows through and it makes the jacket appear to have spots on it which is a bit annoying.

Leaked after one season of use

Got this for my SO and initially she loved it. But after a year of very light use it leaks in several places. She's gone back to using her very old previous jacket that looks worn but still does not leak. This one looks brand new, but does leak. It was kept inside a climate controlled house its entire life too, hanging in a closet.

True waterproof

Love this jacket. As other reviewers have said its fairly boxy and leaves room for layers underneath. I found it very lightweight and loved the extra protections for pockets. I'm a sport photographer and often work long days in the rain covering baseball or football games, memory cards or phones in my pockets stayed nice and dry!
