Entry Mat for Our Tent
Ryan
We've taken the Yeti Lowlands Blanket with us on every camping trip this last summer and have really enjoyed having it! It's incredibly easy to keep clean and can be thrown in the washer and dryer if needed. We use it as an entry mat to our tent and find it to provide more comfort when putting on and taking off our shoes. It also makes it easier for our toddler to hop out of the tent directly onto the blanket instead of the ground. We've used it camping in rainy weather, deserts, and rocky ground, but the blanket still looks new. However, on our last trip, a mouse chewed through the blanket, leaving a small tear. So keep in mind if you plan to use this camping, just like any fabric this blanket may attract mice for its warm insulation, especially as the weather is getting colder! Other than that, the blanket has held up well, and I would definitely recommend it for its durability!

The Absolute Worst "Blanket" I've Ever Used!

I’m not understanding the rave reviews. If you’re just using it for a picnic under perfect weather conditions, then sure, it works…..but so does a $20 picnic blanket. But if you ever take it camping or even get it slightly damp, then forget about it. We used it as a walk-in mat for the camper van. It wasn’t raining, but there was a light drizzle and condensation in the mornings. The (DWR treated) top part of the blanket soaks up EVERYTHING!!! Water, dirt, mud, dog hair. And it’s almost impossible to shake any of that off because the insulated interior acts like a sponge and gets extremely heavy when wet. Be aware that when they say “waterproof layer” they mean ONLY the underside…even though I believe that’s a false claim also (see photos). I read the description extremely carefully, and no where does it talk about the durability of the top layer, which I now understand why. I own a lot of other Yeti items that I love, which was the ONLY reason I risked spending $200 on this. I was so frustrated with how the blanket performed that I was this close to just throwing it in the trash. If you buy this blanket, make sure to buy it from a reputable retailer like REI so you can return it if you don’t like it. On a side note, washing this was also a nightmare. In the spin cycle, the “waterproof” layer prevents any water that’s been soaked up by the insulated layer from being extracted. Water was literally dripping all over the floor when I took the blanket out of the washer. I guarantee anyone giving this a 5 stars has not used it in less than perfect weather conditions, which is what Yeti is known for…or so I thought. And since I tried to write this review on Yeti's website (but it never posted), it' safe to say their reviews are being monitored/manipulated. So disappointed in the company...

Ruby approved

I bought this a month ago, kept on my bed. I have 3 dogs, Ruby (German Shepherd) Toby ( Yorkshire Terrier) Coco ( poodle mix). I also have a 2 1/2 year old grandson. To date, it has kept my bed from accidents. Outside, my grandson, played, stomped , ate food on. My German Shepherd just loves it. I washed it, put on lounge chair to dry and Ruby jumped on it, then lay on it. She was wet from her doggie pool, the blanket was suddenly dirty… but I let it dry and brushed off the dirt… only problem I found was if you lay it on a carpet it’s slippery

Worth the Price

The carrying bag is great with an extendable strap and handles on top and the sides. The underside of the blanket is thick and waterproof. The soft side on top is water resistant. We’ve used it for picnics on grass, sand, rocky surfaces and even laid it over spurs and other prickly plants; nothing is getting through the heavy material on the bottom and even sharp rocky surfaces haven’t been a problem. We have 2 of these blankets which we also use as flooring for our tent. It does take a second to get used to walk-on barefoot if you have the soft side up since the padding inside moves a little and feels a bit slippery at first. On picnics, we’ve had friends spill wine, water and other drinks on it and it all just slides right off. However, recently we took the blankets camping and had a leak on our bell tent which caused the Yeti blankets to get soaking wet. The blanket is seriously heavy when wet and I thought they were ruined. When we got home I put them in the washer for the first time and 1 of them came out not so heavy while the other came out quite wet and dripping water but they both dried really well in the drier, just set it with the soft side out. This is the first time in 2 years that the blankets get washed. We have 2 other water resistant blankets which we also used for flooring and got soaking wet but those other blankets surprisingly dried out really well overnight. The Yeti blanket won’t do that though, you’ll need to wash and dry especially if water sits. The colors are great; a dusty red and a muted blue. After heavy use over the last 2 years we haven’t had any issues with this blanket.

Big enough for Owner + dog with room to spare

I read the reviews, and I love the color orange so this was a must for the summer. I love the fact I can fold it up and put it back in the carry case without struggle. It is waterproof so the dog's water bowl spills rolls right off. The only downside to this blanket is washing it - it holds water. I took it to the laundry mat since someone had an accident on my blanket, it was dripping wet after the spin cycle... got it home, laid it on the line it was dry by the end of the day. I will try to keep muddy paws to a minimum for the remainder of the summer.

Awesome Pet Blanket

We have 4 of these blankets for use in many ways with our active outdoor lifestyle with 2 Great Danes. First, one blanket lines our cargo area of VW Atlas. Perfect fit with second and third row seats down. I zip tie each corner to the truck to keep it in place for the dogs. Love the waterproof, heavy-duty traits for wet & muddy dogs. Washes well & cleans up nice. Secondly, we use these for taking along with us to town when we eat outside at restaurants. We lay the blanket on the concrete patio for the dogs while we dine. And thirdly, Picnics, of course.

Best outdoor upgrade

This is one of those rare times when I think a product is worth 5 stars. This is an excellent outdoor blanket. We use it almost daily in the summer for picnics in our yard and am back to get another for our growing family. I love that it is thick enough that sticks and pebbles aren't nearly as noticeable as they are with the cheaper outdoor blankets (like, the blanket off the bed ;) ). It's heavy enough to withstand wind, soft for little ones, and definitely waterproof. My only recommendation would be to pattern the fabric side so stains don't show as easily. It washes fine in my washing machine on gentle and low.

Essential gear for couples or budding families!

YETI Lowlands blanket review We had been using a small fleece throw with a little blanket on top, but water would soak through, it wasn’t big enough for us to sit on with them, and they would drag it inward with their many movements, so I sprung for the YETI Lowlands blanket and 4 Coghlan’s yellow ABS tent pegs. The Lowlands waterproof on the bottom and soft on top, has stake loops, comes with a carry case. Perfect. Never understood why they made a pricey blanket before but now as a dad of infants who likes to get them outside or plans to take them on the road, I can’t live without it. Easy to wash and dry too. This should be on every baby registry!

Create the perfect outdoor spot.

We took this blanket with us to Hawaii and it was indispensable on the beach. It is perfect in so many ways. It is thick so it gives a great surface on the sand. Water beads off and sand shakes away easily. Rubber backing means you can put it down on gross ground. Soft comfortable top surface. Folds away easy. Sometimes products require a factory trained technician to repack, this blanket bag has lots of room for non-perfect folding. It made a full day at the beach with our 8 month old granddaughter easy. Babies are messy and this blanket was amazing at shedding stuff. NOTE TO YETI: add a zipper down one side so you can zip 2 (or more) together. Take proper care of this and it should last years. I hope the waterproofing lasts or there is a spray to re-waterproof, all waterproofing wears away when you clean.
