I decided to get a 2 person sleeping bag for car camping with my dog because she always tries to get in my single with me. Opted for these pads based on R value and the fact that the Velcro together. Much easier to manage the two pads pulled apart instead of one huge pad. Can also just use one if I’m solo. They work perfectly in my Sierra Designs Frontcountry Bed. I’m a side sleeper and the pads are very comfortable with no issues with my hips or shoulders hitting the ground. They are hard to roll up but I store them inflated and since I only use them car camping it isn’t a major issue. They are pretty rugged and a year later I’m still very happy with them in my camping arsenal.
If you are sleeping on the ground in cold or wet conditions, this is perfect. It will keep your sleeping bag dry. The exterior feels like a vinyl-canvas and it's slippery and even noisy. If you sweat at night, or if you are camping in hot weather, this will not help you be comfortable. If you add another cushion between this and the sleeping bag (like a mattress pad, wool blanket, or sheepskin), then it's fine. This is best for tent camping, not car camping.
